The Collected Knowledge of eRep's Greatest Minds: Introduction to the eRep Wiki

Day 2,152, 12:54 Published in USA Ireland by Mercurius100
Can I help you find something?

Do you have a question about something in eRep but don't know where to look for answers?

Want to know how something works? Or the history of how something used to be and how it came to be what it is today?

Or have you just found a very nice looking button that you really want to push, but you would like to know what it does first?

More often than not you can find what you are looking for on the eRepublik Wiki.

Part game tutorial, part history textbook, and part reference source, the eRepublik Wiki is a treasure trove of information about eRepublik from the earliest days of beta testing to how game mechanics work today.

The Wiki is an amazing reference source when you want to look up something about the game. If you want information on eRep the Wiki is the place to go.

Let's take a tour through some of the material that's available and how the Wiki's features can help you become a better eRep player.

Complex military game mechanics (mostly) explained.

I'm Gina, your tutor. Ready for a few hours of studying?

Let's say hypothetically that as a new player you have no clue how the military module in eRep works. I know, despite how obtuse and complex military gameplay is you're awesome enough to have picked up on every facet and idiosyncrasy of the military module. But hypothetically say you haven't. Don't worry, the Wiki has an enormous amount of information to get you up to speed.

From the smallest scale on what everything on your battlefield screen means.

To what actually happens when you click the Fight button.

To the very large scale of how wars between nations work.

And so much more. The Wiki's primary purpose is to be a knowledge base on game mechanics. eRep doesn't have a formal manual for how to play the game, but if you want a comprehensive walkthrough on just about any topic the Wiki is the place to go.

Particularly on a major topic like the military module you'll find not just the basic introduction to how the overall machine works but dozens of linked sub-pages and related topics on all the nuances that really make things work.

Read through the military section of the Wiki and you are well on your way to becoming an expert on what clicking the Fight button actually does and how fighting actually leads to wars being won and lost.

What the heck is a CoT, and what does it have to do with me?

What knowledge should we enhance today?

After figuring out how fighting works, and how wars work, you'll need to figure out is where to fight. Who are the good guys worth fighting for, and who are the bad guys worth fighting against?

The Wiki is here to help, specifically the section on Alliances.

See the international organizations that allied countries have formed to wage war on a global scale, like Circle of Trust.

Little wars happen between individual countries, but World Wars happen between Alliances. Want to read the history of World Wars in eRep? Check out the World War History page on the Wiki.

Then after reading about allies to fight for, maybe you would like to meet and interact with some of these people from other countries who we fight alongside every day. The Wiki has a page to help with that too!

Thanks to the Wiki, you now know why the country is fighting in today's particular battle, and where those people fighting in battle with us are from.

The dirty scoundrels of politics and the dirty scoundrel things they do.

Studying is an investment in your future.

Do you like making babies cry? Can you lie to people with a straight face? Do you have awesome hair?

If you answered yes to these questions you may have what it takes to be a successful politician!

If you're looking into a career in politics, the Wiki is where to gather the knowledge you need to get started.

What elections and elected positions there are in eRep?

What powers does a Country President actually have?

What does Congress actually do?

Why is Party President an important political position?

No tutorial on making babies cry though, you'll have to use your own talents for that.

Selling crystallized frozen water to indigenous residents of the North American Arctic regions.

If you aren't doping you'll never make it in the world of academics.

Think you have what it takes to turn an ePaperclip into an eFortune?

But which type of paperclip to start with? Ask and the Wiki shall provide the answers.

The different products in eRep that you can produce.

How much companies produce depending on the country they are located in.

Taxes that affect companies and their profitability.

And if you're interested in something a little more under the table, there's always the black market.

All this has happened before, and all this will happen again.

Would be great if we could spend more time together.

The eWorld today didn't come into being as it is now. Years of history has gotten us to where we are today and what has happened in the past continues to shape the eWorld going forward.

Knowledge of what has come before is very important for understanding what is going on today. Bonds of loyalty between old allies can endure the strain of time while animosity between former adversaries can be long-lasting.

Both history and current information is available on every country in eRep, with the depth and amount of more recent information depending on how good a country's players are at keeping an updated history.

A history of the major conflicts in eRep history offers a quick way to figure out why some countries are so close and why others hate each other so much.

There's also tons of info on how eRep was played in the past. You'll get a lot of references from old players about how things used to be. Want to know what a Defense System was for or why business owners long for the economy of yesterday, or where the heck did the pictures for this article come from? The Wiki has plenty of answers to make some sense of the ramblings of the senile.

Making the Wiki work for you.

You really impressed me today!

So aside from being a reference source, what else is the eRep Wiki useful for?

I'm glad you asked.

Did you know that you already have your own Wiki page?

Check out your eRep profile. Ever wondered what this icon is for?

Click it, you know you want to. Voilà, there's your very own page of the eRep Wiki dedicated to your greatness.

What, you say it's empty? Of course, you've got to add information about yourself and your eRep achievements.

But why bother making a Wiki page about yourself? There's a couple advantages the Wiki offers that you can take advantage of.

Your Wiki page is your space in game. The customization you can do on your profile is very limited. Shouts and newspaper articles are fine when they are new but are outdated and buried very quickly. Your Wiki page easy to update and keep current. It's always available linked from your profile plus you can drop the direct link in newspapers, shouts, forum signatures, and anywhere else you want to promote yourself.

The Wiki is also a part of the eRepublik site. So unlike any outside web pages you could make about yourself and your eRep greatness there's no annoying warning messages greeting people who follow the link to your Wiki page. You aren't some evil person trying to trick others into visiting a malicious website!

If you have a newspaper your paper has its own Wiki page too.

Want to write about how amazing you are but don't know how to start? Check out some of the other people with their own Wiki pages. Like this person who I'm sure has nothing better to do than update his slightly outdated Wiki page.

Here's a little something for your trouble.

It's a joy to work with you.

Since you are editing your personal Wiki page, might as well share some more of your eRep knowledge and add to some other pages.

And get paid for it.

Wait, what? You can earn Gold in eRep by adding to and editing the Wiki?

You can earn Gold in eRep by adding to and editing the Wiki!

Is there a better way in eRep to make money than by showing off how smart you are on important topics such as yourself, your history, and your accomplishments?

In summary, the eRep Wiki is awesome.

It's the secret guide to the game. Now you know the secret and can use it to get ahead of your peers while other players live on in blissful ignorance.

It's the most comprehensive reference source on all things eRep. Anything you need to know, look it up. Then show off your immense knowledge to your friends

It's your own personal space for writing about yourself and the amazing things you do in eRep, conveniently linked to your in-game profile page.

Plus editing can earn you Gold.

And you thought you'd never use those lessons on the Dewey Decimal System.
