The Argument against MM Projects
I've seen more and more MM (Media Mogul) projects popping up left and right, and just wanted to throw this article out there. Enjoy.

Price of Media Mogul projects
I'm sure you've seen the papers, "hey, if we get 200 people to Media Mogul, we get 1k gold!". Let me tell you. One MM project won't, and never will, ever get 200 people successfully to Media Mogul. There's not that many people that are willing to see their inboxes cluttered (see third reason), too many two-clickers that don't pay attention to articles, and too many people who are lazy enough to avoid the hassle of MM projects. A good MM project might last for a few weeks, and get maybe 5-6 people to MM from a couple hundred, raising 25-30 gold. They could raise more for that for working in the time they spent putting together the MM project and getting people interested and gaining popularity. I'll tell you a fact here - I haven't seen a single MM project bring a newspaper from 0 to 1000 subscribers. No newspaper in the world has that much popularity, and to be honest, barely any newspapers can raise a few hundred subscribers for a newspaper. Not to mention, the cost of advertising to gain publicity would probably be about the same as the money raised, hence little to no profit for personal profit, the government, or charities.
Organization
As I touched on in the first paragraph, people could raise more money working, merchanting, whatever, rather then organizing a MM project. Not only does it take a ton of advertising and work to gain publicity for that small change of it being successful, you have to work to publish updating articles, keeping track of subscriptions and newspapers, and overall, it does take a lot of time. Organizing a MM project is one of the hardest projects to organize, because you need certain things in place, such as the publicity, friends, subscribers, papers, money, etc. I can tell you honestly that all the work put into running a single project is definitely not worth the dramatic outcome that everyone's hoping for and nobody will get.
Cluttered Inboxes creates problems for citizens
Think of it. Sixty different newspapers in your subscription box, an article being published every minute, and never being able to find your favorite newspapers or important articles. Not only would you have to find articles manually with no article search system in place, it would create problems for citizens that would be otherwise solved without MM projects. Plus, like I mentioned, many MM projects don't succeed, and why make all these citizens suffer for a project that has a very small percentage of succeeding? Citizens miss the daily orders because of this, or how about that lulz article everybody loves - but of course, you can't find it, because your subscription box is full. I'm sure many citizens would rather have orders and good articles in their newspapers then a bunch of spam articles for no reason.
Success Rate
I've previously mentioned this, but very, very few MM projects are successful in actually getting MM's, and I don't think I've seen a single MM project raise over 50 gold yet. To be perfectly honest, there's not enough active people that are willing to volunteer to help, and when a project does get a person successfully to Media Mogul, most of the time they already have 800-or-so subscribers and publish a high-voted articles gaining subscribers, while the project takes credit. I've seen too much of this, and quite frankly, I'm tired of seeing people wasting money and time to a project that never works. I'm going to suggest one thing: Find a new project, something new and unique, to work on. Not only does this shake up things, it gives you a new perspective, and a better chance to be successful.
Media Mogul Projects - Taking the place of quality articles?
Over the past few days we've seen many "subscribe here, get a Q1 weapon" or "vote and sub, free Q1 food!" articles, which, in many cases, are legit, and help people. The problem is not with the articles, but rather, with the articles they're replacing. Many presidential press releases, battle orders, pro-American articles, or resourceful articles are pushed out of the Top 5 due to these articles, along with MM projects also taking the place of these articles, even if they're not doing well. We've seen aspiring journalists give up because they have nowhere near as much votes as some other people, but little do they know that advertising and publicity over time plays a huge factor in your articles, and that you can't be successful immediately, but so many people don't realize this, and give up. There are many, many quality articles I've seen that just don't gain publicity, because of the citizen that wrote it, or other things. The reason it doesn't seem like many votes is because of all these articles receiving a ridiculous amount of votes for free stuff, which many can not afford to give away. In a sense, it's a game of money, and quantity, rather then quality, which it should be.
I ask you - what side are YOU on?
