Despite having enough of congress to pass through any MPPs or Declarations of war they liked, the BfB showed their true colours and remained committed to a free and neutral Belgium last month. The 'Free Belgium' party (free from who - Belgians?) however, used their US and EDEN military backing to increase the EDEN share of congress to 50%, and consequently many of the new congress are flying US flags and sporting US military avatars. This was an amazing achievement, seeing as a few days before the elections there were just under 20 members of 'Free' Belgium (who got 14 seats), to 36 of Res Belgica (who got one seat) and 120+ of the BfB (who got 14 seats). This would give us a party member: congressman ratio of nearly 1:1 for free Belgium! Great ATOing - those Belgians didn't have a chance of PTOing Belgium!
What this shows is that either the US don't trust the Belgians to elect the right people (because they know best what is good for you?), or that they are attempting to get 50%+1 of the congress and an American President in order to use Belgium to strengthen their presence in Western Europe, and/or to line their pockets - i'm sure we all remember Batterytime and Maddyman (who doesn't even have a newspaper!) and their great election campaigns which got them over 25 votes each (more than the number of their party members!).
They will of course reply is that several of these 'former' US soldiers are helping Belgium and using their congress positions to good effect, which so far is of course true for a few of them. However, when you consider that they had too few congressmen to enact any laws, and they spectacularly lost the presidentials, could this not just be a ploy to lure real Belgians into supporting them until they get that majority they so desperately desire, which woud allow them to enact more laws like this:

Or do you disagree, and think that the US are best suited to running Belgium, with their EDEN allies. After all, all of those Hungarian, Serbian and Russians did run against them... oh wait - they didn't. Well, there were those Phoenix backed PTOs by The Group and Imperial Troopers... oh wait, they were Romanian and Spanish. And ALL of those Phoenix MPPs the BfB congress voted for, and the blocks they performed on Spain and Poland... The BfB clearly cannot be trusted...
PS: If you didn't know, depsite all of my claims to the contrary (all 0 of them) I am not Belgian, and am just an UK citizen trying to help the anti-TO. If you feel that invalidates my arguments, please tell me which parts are now not true. Also, when are you going to answer my question, Rod? When will YOU leave as part of your 'BLTs' - or will we have to wait for EDEN to PTO Belgium again and have to have it wiped from the map to remove you and save the economy.

Daniecox, I happen to be one of those in the Free Belgium party. And I know that quite a number of Belgians see the party as a means for EDEN to take over. I can assure you this is not true. We all want what's best for Belgium, and every single one of us cares enough to try and help. No stupid laws, no trying to force Belgium into an alliance... We just want to help.
And I, for one, am 100% eBelgian. Sure, my battle history and my donate lists may say different. But look at them closely. They stopped when I became eBelgian. I got out of that, out of blindly following orders without thought. And I found Belgium to be a nicely neutral country. So I'm here, trying to do my part to keep Belgium neutral.

Why do the Americans need to help Belgium, it is doing fine as it is. The BfB had enough seats to try to pass a Phoenix MPP last month, but they didn't. Thanks for trying though, 'former' US mobile infantry soldier.
I don't see why you insist on putting former in quotes. I am perfectly Belgian, now. And I wasn't in congress last month, in case you didn't notice. I had nothing to do with the BfB passing or not passing an MPP last month.
You are as 'perfectly Belgian' as the Grinch was. Or as German as Shoot. And from experience, EDEN congress members in Belgium tend to try to harm it, as soon as you get a majority. Why do you need to come to Belgium from the US, you can still act neutral with US citizenship, and the Americans would be the first to complain if Hungarians/Russians/Serbs came to 'help'?

This is not about EDEN/Phoenix, this is not about Belgium, really. This is about free will. Are you trying to imply that I came to Belgium because I want to see it taken over? Watch the next month, please. Keep track of the laws, the proposals, and everything. I can't make you believe by telling you, but I can show you, and the rest of the world, what I believe.
There are no Russians/Hungarians/Serbs incongress, so no I don't see you complaining. The US can semi-take over Belgium and NOT immediately destroy it, believe it or not. An influx of citizens from another country gaining a majority in congress is a take-over, regardless of what you do there - there is no need to watch the proposals. If you came to be Belgian, why did you join the party full of Americans, not the one with Belgians in?

Zyria: While I certainly understand the appeal of leaving the alliance business and claiming to be neutral the case still stands. You joined the american party because they could get you into congress. Probably because of the orders you got from above. If you truly want to support belgian independence it's possible without resorting to foreign voters and I'm a living proof of that. I left the PTO force, made a manifesto, financed an ad campaign and put my trust in a Belgian party and Belgians themselves. Suprisingly "Voila!" I'm in congress. If somebody in command puts you where you are they always want something in return. We just have to wait and see what it will be for the current american congress members. Hopefully nothing harmful this time 😉

With EDENs help you are neutral. Why? Because in every important fight between Phoenix and EDEN is not much more Belgian fighters on Phoenix site. If EDEN leave Belgium, there will stay only Phoenix, and not many true Belgian players.

It's generally considered bad form to bring RL into the game. Otherwise, all these articles would be about what things like Belgium did in the Congo, what the Serbs and Croatians have been trying to do to each other for centuries, etc.
But if you do enjoy the RL roleplaying, I'd suggest the eRepublik forums, where a lot more of that stuff seems to leak out.

You are just sore that I have a logical argument as to why the Free Belgium party are a PTO party - you may be nice enough as a minority but with a majority... who knows, but last time you maxxed out tax and tried to get a 200BEF minimum wage

Because we don't believe you to be neutral. You are a UK citizen, proposing that you are all for "neutrality". Perhaps that's true, perhaps that's false. But there is a standoff for a reason, so this "neutrality" stays around. I refuse to believe that all of BfB is all "neutral", when it is backed by Phoenix votes. Why is Belgian neutrality a lie? What have they done, or tried to do? I am not arguing that I am neutral, as I said in my article, but that if Belgium isn't then Spain and Poland could just crush it. You are PTOing Belium, regardless of what you do. It is very hypocritical to be an 'A'TO force, only to stop Belgians PTOing their own congress. just admit you are here to shore up EDEN control of Western Europe, and for no other reason - you may have originally come to stop a Phoenix PTO, but that is no longer an issue, as Phoenix aren't running. keep your citizenships, but just hold off voting next time, unless you have proof that a non-Belgian Phoenix PTOer is running against you. See what happens then, and if you don't like it you can PTO again the next month.
