8 Day 593, 22:13 Canada

The results of The Shameless Plug Award for Best Article of the MonthSPABAM…or more simply, BAM are in. This month saw a wider spread of points, though we did see one article get a decisive 10 point lead and was voted for by 11 out of 15 judges.

Here is how the scores went down. The judges selected their Top 5 articles for the Month of June. Their #1 choice received 5 Points and the rest were ranked all the way down to their final pick, worth 1 Point. Here are the Top 5 Best Articles for the Month of June:

1. The Freeholder Press - Alias Vision – “DAL Rising! (and other June election analysis) [WGC]"
The Score: 5, 5, 4, 4, 4, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3 = 40 / 17.8%

The Plug: Alias Vision has returned to claim his place as a media great with the latest instalment in his much respected series of congress election analysis. Two things make his post-election review top notch: 1) His comparison of stats from prior elections 2) His analytical breakdown of each provincial riding. Granted, AV’s long-term congress experience gives him an great inside edge in knowing what’s in store for eCanada after each new congress is chosen. This BAM win just goes to show that the sun has not set over the printing house of TFP.

We’ll end by offering the thoughts of one judge: “Alias Vision provides an in-depth, yet easy to read analysis of the recent congressional election. Chock full of statistical deliciousness, Alias' article is well worded and researched. All congresspeople seemed to be known to Alias, with upsets even being mentioned, demonstrating a great knowledge of the subject material. Very well done Alias.”

The Best Lines: The times they are changing - In all only 13 Congressmen were re-elected, the lowest amount on record. Some big names did not make it and a few surprises were waiting citizens on this balmy Friday. The DAL arrived with great fanfare and their politics and policies resonated with Canadians. The CSD and CEP are still the main forces in Congress and it will be up to them to be active and set the agenda lest the newcomers overshadow them.

2. The General - Coda - "Support a Platoon Program CONTEST #2"
The Score: 5, 5, 5, 5, 4, 3, 1, 1, 1 = 30 / 13.3%

The Plug: What began as a fun activity to rouse up some troop morale and participation become a bit of an overnight success story. Coda has proven herself to be more than military leader concerned with supplies and tactics. She’s been finding new ways to engage eCanadians to become interested in the CAF and to keep troops active in between military operations. The results: 500 GOLD! and a victorious 12th Platoon. Read about it here.

The Best Lines: Today I am restarting the new Support a Platoon Program. I am going to be incorporating more tasks and fun activities for the soldiers to do in order to get sponsored….We're putting soldiers head to head to gain support for their platoon.

3. Canadian News Corp. - emilio sanchez - "Canadian Health Services Update - Read If You Need Wellness!"
The Score: 5, 4, 4, 4, 3, 3, 2 = 25 / 11.1%

The Plug: Normally the Shameless Plug Awards do not nominate articles that are political advertisements or government announcements, but then it was noted that emilio sanchez selflessly launched “Operation Healthy Nation” 8 months ago and then initiated the full scale implementation of Canadian Health Services just over 5 months ago. If anything, this award is not so much for the article but for the ongoing and improving success of CHS. It’s one of the few good news stories out there that has not had its rainy day.

The Best Lines: 2. "CHS is committed to working with the Canadian gifting industry, and will strive to purchase directly off the Canadian market whenever possible. The criterion for purchasing gifts will be the Cost per Quality." To explain further on this: We will now be buying gifts from the market and not just our contracted suppliers. This will help the gift industry with sales. Also Cost per Quality means that if we can buy gifts for less than you paid, we will refund you the extra amount you sent to us.

4. The Times Standard - dabman - "Does Having a Presentation Affect the Elections?"
The Score: 5, 4, 4, 3, 2, 2, 1 = 21 / 9.3%

The Plug: dabman has earned a lot respect as both congressman and a journalist (see his Map of eCanada, advance polling methods, and his own astute political platforms). Unsurprisingly, he has combined both to prove that neither are that important…whaaa? So what we bring you is yet another exception to SPA rule about political ad nominees. But this is more than just a typical election platform. It’s a well-calculated experiment to determine the coefficient of variation for the number of votes earned with no presentation as compared to prior elections with presentations as applied to the reliability theory of voter confidence in an incumbent congressman. Either that or he did not have enough time to make one…yet, word is that we’ll see the findings of his experiment released someday soon. Congrats on your return to Congress, dabman, and your Top 5 BAM win.

The Best Lines: In a bold move, I have volunteered myself in an experiment to quantify exactly how much the presence of a presentation affects voter turnout for specific candidates. I have *no* current presentation, and I will not have one during congressional elections. My past history of votes tends to be relatively stable, so we'll get a chance to see how significant this effect will be during the election.

5. Spem Reduxit - Rigour6 - "Where to Live in Canada"
The Score: 5, 4, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1 = 16 / 7.1%

The Plug: “Where to Live in Canada” marks the first full-on Spem Reduxit article (other than its release announcement), making a great first/second impression on certain readers. What this articles offers is more than advice for a new player looking for a better home. If anything, it works as a reminder to hardened eRep veterans, the ‘Jet Set’ who see citizenship as nothing more than a cheap Q1 moving ticket, that new people coming to the game may want not want to pick up and move from their home province to the closest Q5 hospital. Is the Spem Reduxit proposal practical? The popularity of certain organizations like SCOTIA would seem to indicate it’s a possibility.

The Best Lines: Why are 48% of Canadians willingly choosing to live in less than Q5 hospital zones, and why are 7% of them continuing to live in Q1 zones? Because pride of place for them is more important than individual advantage. These people, all 42% of them, represent a pool of committed and underutilized force, not to mention the many people behind them who would join and continue to play if their home territory has higher quality health care.

Those have been the Top 5 articles for the month of June – the best of what are already the best. Speaking of which, here are the results for the remaining 10 nominees. There are more than several among them that could have easily made it to the Top 5.

6. Brucks News - Bruck - "President Jacobi Ignores Congress, Supreme Court in Fresh Scandal"
The Score: 5, 5, 3, 2 = 15 / 6.7%

7. eCanada Uncensored - Monkeedude - "Preposterous Party Presidency Elections!"
The Score: 5, 4, 3, 2 = 14 / 6.2 %

8. Polar News - Fram - "[VOTE] 3 in 1 Special"
The Score: 5, 4, 2, 1, 1 = 13 / 5.8%

9. Defense Daily - Gaidal Cain - "Welcome to Defense Daily"
The Score: 4, 3, 2, 1, 1, 1 = 12 / 5.3%

10. The Alternate View - Derek Harland - "So Many Choices for Presidential Elections"
The Score: 5, 3, 1, 1 = 10 / 4.4%

11. The Petz Press - Petz - "Canada's Only Q5 Housing Company Sold for 45 Gold, 200 Gold Lost"
The Score: 3, 2, 2, 1 = 8 / 3.6%

12. The eCanadian Underground - Keldire - "eCan Thefts, Another Viewpoint"
The Score: 4, 2, 2 = 8 / 3.6%

13. The Spiral - Adasko - A Warning to All eCanadians: Propaganda is BAD!"
The Score: 5, 2 = 7 / 3.1%

14. The eCanadian Underground - Keldire - "A Warning to all eCanadian Citizens!"
The Score: 4, 2 = 6 / 2.7%

15. elReporter - Rayin - "Cultural Contributions of a War Reporter"
The Score: 0 (I give special regards to Rayin who presented a great article, yet did not vote for himself)

…and one last thing – “Earn 50 Gold in 40 Days” could have easily made it to the Top 5 and certainly would have been placed in the Fab 15. Whoever wrote it deserves a nod, even though it was deleted by the admins (we can appreciate a clever plan nonetheless).
