It is taxes that pay for the IA weapons that you get for free, and the weapons given to you in the past in boot camp!
to compare irelands production cost to countrys with a better production bonus is unfair, of course its going to cost more to produce food/weapons in ireland but for the foreseeable future this is not going to change,.
Maybe its time to give something back (taxes) to ireland rather than giving it to others, after all Ireland helped you get where you are today after all.
