Taking A Plunge

Day 1,654, 23:11 Published in Canada Canada by Nosyt

Well I’ve done a considerable amount of thinking about erepublik this evening. Ironically last Summer I found myself taking my first real vacation from erep, after going a good 3 months without logging on. My own breaking point came from attempting to manage a rapidly expanding MU single-handily, and after that I decided that I shouldn’t get too involved in this game anymore. For the past year, if there was something I didn’t want to do on erep, I didn’t do it. By letting go of any sense of responsibility, by leading a “Hakuna Mata” lifestyle, I figured I could avoid potential burnouts. Getting on to all that thinking I’ve been doing, I’ve decided to risk a second burnout, become 100% involved in erepublik for the first time in a year, and run for president. 😮

My biggest dilemma in deciding weather to run or not to run, was weather or not I could even get an endorsement. I’ve no intention of being involved in the primary process while I’m on the ballot, yet this process can’t be delayed any longer than it already has. In light of this, I asked Nicholas Boyce to tackle them single-handily this evening, (he’s probably still sending out those tedious PMs >.>) and amazingly he’s accepted. Having helped out with them in the past, he’s got the experience to fly solo. o7

Running in this election is something I’ve always intended to do, but something I’ve always avoided. I’m well aware that the job can be very demanding, draining, and I’ve often felt that I couldn’t live up to my own expectations, let alone the rest of eCanada’s. Considering it’s still Summer this is probably the best time for me to give it a shot. The main reason I’ve decided to run now, is very much similar to why Connor ran last month. I’d like to see a real election and offer at least a token of competition. Over the next few days I’ll release my own series of campaign articles. I’ve got fragments lying around, I’ve been considering this run for awhile so it’s just a matter of putting them together at this point.

I’ve got a cabinet that I need built in less than 4 days, as well as a platform to present. For now I’ll be sleeping on it, then spend most of my workday tomorrow pondering it, as well as gauge the communities' response. If anybody has any interest in taking an active role in the eCanadian community doing something send me a PM, I’d like to see who out there is watching and waiting to step up. Here’s to an interesting election, and with any luck an interesting month. o/
