Have no idea whether the money we are going to pay is alot, little or reasonable. Well it cannot be fully reasonable because paying for your own regions can never be full on reasonable. But moreso in the grand scheme of things is 4 grand a month payable by us?

That to the side, I agree the struggle has gotten kind of boring and would be relaxing to have a congress once again.

Speaking as one that would continue to take the fight to Slovenia if for no other reason than to be a royal pain in their ass for screwing us about the original agreement, I will tell my opinion.

1. "Article I: Exchange of region" should read "Article I: Surrender of regions".
2. I am not pleased that we must pay anything.
3. Romandie has cattle and Deutschschweiz has iron, they are being compensated with bonuses.
4. Article IV, paragraph 2 is a good exit clause but I would like to see an ability to extend to the 8th day of the month.

5. The agreement is simple and easy to understand.
6. There are no conditions other than a cash payment.
7. We will have a congress.
8. We will have cattle and fruit bonuses.
9. The payment of 4000 cc (about 20 gold) is manageable and much less expensive than fighting.
10. The fact that Slovenia is willing to treat us as 'big kids' is appreciated. One of the main problems that I had with even talking to them was the smug attitude. As long as Slovenia will respond to us as a peer and not a 3rd class country I am good with this.

This is not so good for Swiss: if Slovenia decides to wipe you again, they are not being punished a lot. You should have insisted that they shall pay back all monies received from Swiss from this treaty. Then it would be a fair deal.

But you do not consider that they will most likely pay nothing anyhow. If they are breaking the agreement what do they care?

First, fighting is all we got in this game.. What's the purpose of building stuff and training is we aren't going to fight? Politics are meaningless if we have to beg some enemy for their permission to let us have a congress that can't really do shit.

What's to keep poland or serbia from taking over where Slovenia left off? The eworld is dying. Our enemies know this. Switzerland has a paltry ~240 active players and its not looking like we're going to see any kind of a mass injection of new players. This is it. And, until our allies can get on top of their own threats, we will remain 240 active citizens. And that assumes that all citizens will be ok being under Slovien rule.

We aren't a threat so a treaty is simply their way to exert dominance over us. Besides, do you really think Slovenia cares about 4000CC month?? It is a token of their ownership. We are admitting to being conquered and defeated all so we can get a few more resources to make weapons we aren't allowed to use against our enemies. So, basically, we get to allow a few people the opportunity to get congress medals. If there's more, please explain because I guess I must be missing it.

So, I guess I gotta know - as a Swiss citizen, am I permitted to engage Slovenia and her allies or is this our welcome package into the TWO fold?

eRepublik is a fight button bracketed by a bunch of meaningless shit. I for one would rather keep bringing the fight to them.

I think, while your position has merit, is myopic and inexpedient.
You open with saying that the treaty will not allow Swiss citizens to fight. Well, yes it will. Just because we are not allow to fight Slovenia in our battles (they are not allowed to fight us as well, mind you), it does not mean we cannot fight for our alliance and in other wars. There is no shortage of wars, I'm sure we can find somewhere else to fight.
Then you move on to our low amount of players. We have not had luck with a baby boom, despite our many projects, so that only leaves us with one other option, immigration. The only way we can have immigration is with congress, and thus we need regions (aka, the reason for the treaty). Immigrants such as yourself strengthen our nation, as many Swiss have left or eDied.
Next, you say this is the way for Slovenia to exert domination over us. This is not true, both parties can leave the agreement on any month, it is non-binding. Besides, I would rather pay a small sum to Slovenia to guarantee us regions compared to the massive costs of the war effort that will inevitably fail, leaving us further broke (which, at our current treasury level, isn't really possible), and further demoralized. The regions will give us congress, food bonuses, and access to the 5,000 gold we won in the epic battle competition, money we could use to help build back Switzerland. I don't know about you, but I don't have anything left to fight with, and frankly, I am sick of war.
To answer your question, yes, you are allowed to engage Slovenia's allies and TWO, our alliance standpoint has not changed in the slightest. I cannot fathom why you are so opposed to a mutually beneficial peace.

Having an opposite opinion is not a bad thing in and of itself. If you have and present a well reasoned argument to substantiate you opinion then there is room for debate. Debate makes you think. Thinking changes things. If the person doing the thinking is not an idiot this is usually for the better. 🙂

What is myopic about not enjoying surrender or biased treaties? Is it myopic to say that eRepublik is little more than a "fight" button? If you have doubts about it, take a look at the missions that we are given. Fight, Train, Fight, Defeat, rinse and repeat. What generally matters is who we are fighting against.

I think its sucks that Switzerland got wiped by Slovenia of all places. I mean, c'mon. Slovenia? A population and GNP 1/4 that of Switzerland? That's silly talk. It tells me something. We can make it easy for everyone and make a treaty or we con continue to be that thorn in their side keeping them in a constant state of alert. As you say, you're tired of war but that ship has sailed. War happened. What the treaty suggests is surrender.

I don't concur. As long as a people us unwillingly occupied, war is still underway. Swiss was not violating any other nations. We were not threatening anyone. We made alliances and fought alongside those allies. Does that warrant losing our territories?? Does that warrant paying an aggressor to permit us to have a pretend government?? Is this your definition of peace? Negative, Ghostrider, the pattern is full. Call it what you want but it stinks of occupation to me.

Conversely, what's the purpose in building and training a tiny bit, spending WAY too much rl money on gold to fight with and having nothing to show but some statistics on my profile? It is even worse for the regular player. They work hard to save EB's and collect a rocket or two from missions, bazookas, stockpile a few Q7's, then dump it all into a RW war that we will give the region back eventually anyhow.

Maybe the purpose of building stuff and training without fighting some useless war every week is so that we can build infrastructure (communes), train noobs and grow this damned country. As it is we are stagnant. Nothing changes. People get excited for stupid RW's and then get depressed when we lose.

Fight. Bring the fight to them daily. Look, we aren't the only ones who are fighting Slovenia. They are being attacked by Croatia as we speak. If we continue to fight them, this treaty may not even be needed. We can't beat them on our own nor can we beat them sitting on the sidelines but if we continue to attack them over our regions while our allies are attacking them internally, we will have an impact just as we are having now.

Why are they willing to negotiate with us? They know they can usually beat us in a 1 on 1 fight but we aren't the only dog in the fight. Our allies are attacking them as well and our RW's are a distraction. And, sometimes we win - just like we did last week. We were on a high. It was cool that we succeeded.

If we throw in the towel now, there is 0% chance of Slovenia coming back with a less one-sided treaty. If we keep fighting and keep draining their resources, we may be in a better position to negotiate. Did anyone suggest that in addition to returning our regions, we assume control of a couple of Slovenia regions or that they pay us to stop the RW's? If you're laughing at that premise, you don't get the concept of a negotiation. We hold more power than some might think.. If not, there would be no discussion of a treaty. If we were powerless and little more than a nuisance, Slovenia wouldn't be bothering with us.

FWIW, I know for a fact (unless they lied, and they have no reason to do that) that Pickles Patriots (which BTW we are getting back together over here) has a Canadian, a Frenchman and an Estonian in our ranks. Our rl Turk has been absent of late but I am sending an e-mail to find if he is OK in rl. The whole Syria thing has me worried. He mostly plays just so we can occasionally PM.

Anyhow, I am supposing that some other rl nationalities are here too. I don't ask and they don't tell unless they are just chatty and want to. I don't ask where someone resides, what their political, religious or social views are. They just must be friendly and accepting of others views. I could write so much in response to this...but I don't think it is necessary. This goes for all new players. If you want something, go get it. Be active, write articles, message people. I have held open cabinet applications both times I was president, and some have almost all other presidents. I have had nobody respond to that invitation, so before you accuse us of complete elitism please, please try. Do not have a false sense of entitlement. Everyone in the government now or in the past is/was there because they tired. It is not a right. Please get active Swiss!

I have to agree with Troggdor here. Even a year ago when I was CP we always asked people to join the governments. We had old and new faces but not everyone lasts to be active around here for the long run. The pickle patriots have been a breeze of fresh air when they came and I'm trully happy about that. And I want all of you RL swiss to be in the government. As for Asmadi goes, he does his job. He is the opposition that every government needs. If he was even more active doing that, we could even see his idea of changes. I've never seen a problem with his position.

If someone inadvertently upset you in saying something you find offensive about Switzerland I assure you they didn't mean it. It is called an "off the cuff" response. Perhaps instead of getting butt hurt about it, you explain yourself in a manner that makes sense. I would love to know more about Switzerland and anything else you would like to educate us on. I have been to a few different countries and have been awed by them. I have "friends" in this game that I can only assume are from the Middle East and one of them posts new pictures of wondrous places in Iran, Japan and many more. So educate us.

The guys and gals I play with in this GAME seem to be for the most part great people. I don't care where a single one of them are from because ultimately, IT DOESN'T MATTER!! Because.....? That's right!!!! IT'S A GAME!!
