Starkad's Guide out of Occupation 1.01
First steps in eRepublik
Hello everyone,
and welcome to Starki's Guide out of Occupation (version 1).
Since we are currently occupied, the irish media is full of articles calling for all irishmen to unite and work together, to get rid of the brits, etc.., but there are hardly any articles giving specific advise on HOW to go about achieving those goals.
This is what this article is aimed to achieve.
I'll try to keep this short and simple, if any suggestions dont make sense to you, feel free to give feedback by mail or in the discussion section below. This guide will be updated and re-posted on a regular basis.
Step 1: Join the Forum and visit daily
Reasoning: Since the enemy can read our news, but cannot read our Forums, the Forums are the perfect platform to coordinate. They are not subject to admin censorship either. So join immediately!
Step 2: Be active
Reasoning: Nopain, no gain. The more active our community is, the more damage we will be able to do, and the more coordinated we will be. Fight as often as you can afford, and pay attention to army orders.
Step 3: Move to China
Reasoning: The simple underlying formula of this game is: Money = Damage. Damage is what we need to achieve in battle, and money is what is required for it. Wages in China are double what they are in Ireland. That means you can inflict twice the pain to the enemies of Ireland. If you are new, and lacking the money, I will personally sponsor the move if you promise to stay working in a chinese company for at least a week.
Step 4: (This is for players with AT LEAST 10 companies only, others read on Step 5). Try to get chinese citizenship
Reasoning: Since China is enjoying full on economic bonuses, the output of your companies will double. Again, Double the Output = Twice the pain. If you are an ordinary player with few companies, keep irish citizenship!! This is vital as we need a solid voting base in case the enemy tries to conquer us "democratically" in the Dail.
Step 5: Buy Smart
Reasoning: Don't bother buying irish only. It sounds very smart, but it is not. Buy whatever, wherever you can get it cheapest. Because the cheaper your weapons and food are, the more of it you will be able to buy...and the more you can buy, the more damage you will inflict.
Also compare food prices. Q5 Food is the equivalent of 5 units of Q1 Food, Q4 Food is the equivalent of 4 Q1 Food, or 2 Q2 Food, etc.. So if Q1 Food costs 0.7 IEP and Q2 Food costs 1.12 IEP. Dont touch Q1 Food just because you are used to buying that.
This guide will be regularly expanded, based on your feedback and other stuff that still needs to pop up in my head....so watch out for the version number and please give this your vote so people can read.

I have way more than 10 companies. I know the smart thing to do is to get temporary citizenship in a country with resource bonuses. But, sometimes there's a difference between doing what's smart, and what's right. I just cannot bring myself to abandon eIreland so easily, even if I suffer financially.
I mentioned what I think needs to be done about the occupation in a response to a shout from Loyen, 2 days ago. As long as we are careful with our friends list we can still communicate in-game with shouts and group mails, and avoid Brit eyes.
I too, cannot bring myself to changing citizenship to make a few extra yen.
eIreland has never had the benefit of a full bonus - so why bother ever being an eIrish Citizen? The reason is simple - I'm eIrish and proud to be! Sure we dont get full bonus, sure things are tough right now, but no, I'm not abandoning my country.
However, I do agree with Step 1, 2 and 5

I cannot agree with Bhane and DerBrad more. Everything they said was true im temporarily in croatia and working for croatia they are our good and loyal allies and its close buy even if i dnt make as much money ill have enought for the rebelion. Oh yea can that rebellion please come soon im really sick of their being no eireland anymore
I moved to china and have 150 people working in my companies. This is good because I personaly paid for about 6 RW in the last month or so and spent way to much gold doing damage in battles. If an Irish player has the bussiness base to earn extra money, get high strenght, fight around the clock, that is good for ireland. Some might call it greed but the only thing you can do with money in this game is use it to fight, and mine has always been used to fight for Ireland. Most of Edens and Terras bigger tanks and company owners are in China now. The economic bomus make it very productive. Anyone who wants a job in China send me a PM.
If many eIrish change their Citizenship, they may find it difficult to get it back if needed quickly. We are a small country with approx 40 cs passes each month. Prepare to join a long queue when you feel the need to return.
I have to respect everyones patriotic feelings and I will certainly not object, but let me just make one remark and consider this:
Those of you who played this game back in V1, or even back in Beta will remember the times "citizenship" didnt exist. "Citizenship" was merely a concept introduced by the admins as a way to combat the many political takeovers taking place.
Back then, without official citizenships, our loyality was determined not by what flag was flying next to our name (there simply werent any), but by who we fought for. And for me...this didnt change.
As long as you dedicate your time and ressources to fight for eIreland, you will always be eIrish. And doing that will make you more eIrish than any fencesitter with an irish flag who talks but doesnt fight will ever be.
This is not about extra money, its about extra weapons and food for the irish struggle. If you feel bad having something "extra" from "abandoning" irish citizenship, then donate that "extra" to the IA if you must.
Its good to be a patriot, but dont let your patriotic feelings cloud your judgement. eIreland is gone, and we will not come back if we dont play this smart.
Actually Der Brad, please correct me if im wrong....as long as we have no congress, everyone applying for irish citizenship will automatically have it granted, no?

No, you will have to wait until congress returns before you can get irish citizenship back. With only 40-ish passes each month, you may have to wait months before you get citizenship back.
Did they change that rule?
In the past it was: no congress = freebie citizenships for everyone. Thats why it was so crucial to always be on the map by the time a congressional election took place.
Just wondering anyway, I didnt write the guide with that in mind.
Hence why I suggested for only a selected few industrial heavyweights to change nationality.
Down with Ireland
I'd prefer that these "industrial heavyweights" were available to run for upcoming congress, pp and cp elections. We need experienced players when we get ourselves back on the map.... not a queue of experienced players trying to get back into the country.

There could be a middle of the road solution to this debate. It would take some coordination and cooperation but that can be done. If to supply the IA we have a select few move to get the bonus so that it is more economical for us then so be it. But we should also keep trusted Irish citizens to be on hand to prevent the PTO attempts that may arise or have enough people to actually show other countries we are a viable nation. It may look bad if we all abandon our citizenships just because we were occupied.
Anything your American comrades can do to help fan the fires of revolution?

Absolutely agree with Anthony aswell. I tried keeping my suggestion moderate for that exact reason.
But on another note, can someone shed some light on my previous question regarding free citizenships? Was that rule scrapped?

No longer the case - Only congress can approve a CS change now. Therefore non-eIrish citizens must wait until eIrish congress returns before they can become eIrish Citizens
Sigh... it would be so much easier if you welcomed you British overlords and embraced them with you crooked hands, eUnited Kingdom isn't that bad ...
