Stalemates and Stale Hate

Ayo 😁

So...tons of stuff going on, non? Let's talk about it!

Round TWO

It's strange to think about it, especially since America quickly threw up a French wall and ran away at the end, but Serbia actually lost the war, all things considered. They did, after all, lose Aquitaine directly to Americans, as well as Midi-Pyrenees, albeit the latter to the French. However, to the Serbs' credit, they avoided a major disaster, which they appeared in for after losing Basilicata to Italy and Apulia to Croatia, as well as a horde of various other losses to the Croatia blob. Yet, they did lose three regions, and looked susceptible to much worse losses at certain times.

However, America looked very weak at the beginning of the campaign, only holding Serbia back with NE victories and plenty of distraction in the Balkans. With Hungary becoming America's new target, it was really no surprise that Serbia would make its move, breaking through the Pyrenees wall and preparing to strike America while its back is turned. Aquitaine has already fallen to Serbian hands, while Hungary strikes Alaska. Thailand is also preparing its move into the States, while UK is loading the ships for a naval assault. Montenegro is also prepping up its own airstrike. And last but certainly not least, Poland is coming. Six fronts. Can USA survive?

A Balanced Top

Local news here in Canada but most likely unheard of elsewhere, Spain continues to occupy Canadian territory. Despite bursts of negotiations over the last few months, and mediation with other nations helping along the peace process, there have been no major breakthroughs in the conferences. However, this is no mere 'TWO occupies enemy nation' scenario. Spain is an interesting case, as a good part of their nation is quite fond of CoT, even after the CoTWO severance.

With Canada and Asgard in general getting very close to CoT, some members of Spain that are pro-CoT themselves no longer consider the extra resource bonuses that Canada offers to be worth the slowly diminishing relations between Spain and CoT. Spain, unlike some of its allies, ideally wishes to avoid conflict, holding relatively stable bonuses but unable to expand much more without absolute collapse. As a result, they have been carefully playing both sides, staying friendly with some CoT nations, while keeping their loyalties with TWO strong. However, the crisis over the fate of Canada will eventually force the issue. Which path will Spain choose? The path with Poland, or the path of CoT? Or somewhere in the middle? Their fate hangs in the balance.

Bering Westward

The only major battle going on right now, Russia has been attacked by countless nations. Despite the efforts of the likes of Finland and Sweden, Russia was absolutely overrun by Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, and even Ukraine after its deal with the Hungarians. Its Asgard allies in the west have also struggled, Sweden mostly being eliminated and Finland being sized up for an invasion. Norway also has issues, having to deal with Belarus's unwanted company that they flew all the way over to meet. With Russia occupied, it looked down for the count. Then came USA.

Brothers for ages, the Americans decided to attack Hungary to help save their Russian allies. However, two things failed to go their way. First, Serbia took the opportunity to go through Midi-Pyrenees and set up their NE. Second, Hungary diverted the first attack by RWing Far Eastern Russia and blocking off the border. When the coast was clear (literally), Hungary retook the region and has now started their own NE proposal. Can Hungary and friends handle Russia's RWs while battling USA?

Here Comes a New Challenger

It's an absolutely chaotic war in South America. Argentina is battling everyone, even having some TWO nations such as Spain support their enemy, and ironically so, seeing as Argentina has buddied up with Serbia and some other TWO nations as of late. Peru has been off trying to hold down Colombia with Mexico's help, along with occupying the remnants of Bolivia. Chile, meanwhile, has been bogged down in Australia, struggling to maintain its bonuses in the area whilst also battling back Argentina. However, Brazil has arrived, on CoT's side.

With Brazil, all the attention has turned to Argentina. Never mind the Colombians and Bolivians, who have fought with furious fervor to free their folks from…occupation (couldn't think of another word ;_😉. Now, all the CoT nations, Peru, Paraguay, and Chile, alongside Brazil, have all focused on Argentina, mighty by themselves but perhaps may struggle against multiple fronts. With Paraguayan home regions occupied by Argentina, it ends up being yet another front for the Argentinians to have to deal with. Early on, it seems that Brazil's involvement has severely crippled Argentina's military capabilities. All four nations have pounced on Argentina. Colombia, Bolivia, and Uruguay may combine to help battle back their ally's invaders, but it remains to be seen.

New Locale, Same Bloodshed

The Middle East sure doesn’t disappoint, now does it? With NAP talks tried and failed, the Turks and Macedonians have once again gone to war. A massive series of battles early on have the two nations locked in mortal combat, and it's quite an entertaining sight to see. In two close clashes, the Macedonians have come out on top so far, but only just, with a ridiculously close photo finish in Sharjah all but depicting the war in a nutshell. Expect many great battles in this war, especially now that Indonesia has come to play.

Indonesia used its airstrike very wittingly, striking the formerly Pakistani region of Balochistan, which through trade made its way into Iranian hands. Now, they're setup in the east to march westward and support their Macedonian allies. In the northwest, Bulgaria is battling in its home regions to compensate for its losses in the Middle East, where Greece is pounding away at Egypt and the fringes of Saudi Arabia. Can Greece actually wipe the Bulgarians, or will the defenders outmaneuver their attackers? And will Indonesia's support help save Macedonia's thin grasp in Saudi Arabia?

NaN Additions

The tiny alliance grows again! Picking up nations that have a variety of backgrounds and various enemies, NaN has added Egypt and the Philippines to their fray. Though many of its members are still under occupation, the minor alliance for minor countries continues to expand. What's interesting are the nations added and what they bring to the table. Egypt has been in obscurity for ages, occupied in bursts by Greece and Bulgaria. Mostly reduced to being a feeder state, it'll be interesting to see what the Egyptians can muster up with friends. Philippines, under constant PTO, has been an interesting case. China is quite friendly with many NaN nations, yet fully occupies the Filipinos. How that develops will be key to how Philippines fits in to their new home.

Flashes in the East

Remember that treaty that USA fought months to get? Where Taiwan would move out of half of South Korea, and pay rent for the rest? Well, with USA being invaded on unprecedented levels, Taiwan has broken its treaty with the South Koreans, quickly trying to eliminate a threat before possibly going after the Americans as well. Citing supporting their allies, the Taiwanese annulled the treaty granting them regions in exchange for rent, hoping to catch the weaker South Koreans by surprise. And it seems to have worked. South Korea has had no answer, simply letting the Taiwanese attack. Perhaps they like their chances better in the resistance wars, but so far, there's been little resistance, as Taiwan marches its way through South Korea with no issues at all.

Misshapen Circle

Switzerland left the alliance before, to prevent the PTOers from abusing their power in CoT. However, they duly returned after the restoration of the throne. This time, though, it was truly the will of the people, as the New Zealanders, frustrated over the last several months of inadequate support and whatnot, have left CoT, led by a presidential address. Whether this is a local issue due to the Australian drama over the months of CoT occupation or if it's a sign of greater CoT instability remains to be seen. What could be cited, however, is New Zealand's large Serb community, which was happy to be in CoT during CoTWO, but not anymore, as the two alliances now butt heads. What is also a factor is the controversy over the Australians and how the regions have been partitioned, including deals and issues in the occupation.

No matter what the factors, CoT is now short a member. What will happen with the Australian occupation, now that Indonesia is busy, Chile is battling for its life, and New Zealand has left the alliance?

Until next time, take care!
