Spring Contest Underway
seeker1
As all of you should know that the Spring contest started on April 8th, 2014 (last tuesday). So I’d like to teach something useful by doing a mathematical proof.
Lets prove that 60 = 30
I hope you all enjoyed this silliness, and I’m counting on some feedback for this proof. As extra credit, the first one to send me a message on the FORUMS with the error in this proof will earn their platoon some extra credit
Looks like the Fighting Cocks and the Kungfu Ninjas are leading based on partial results from the first 2 days of the contest. The Fire Killers and The Pitmasters still have shot this early in the contest. GET ON IRC
😛
Here is a joke for you from Merlecorey:
How do you lift an elephant? Have him sit on an acorn and wait twenty years.

Hmmmm.... why would I want to read your article, it is like spending time divided between nullity and zero... reading this article made me think of zilch, yet ... this proof is infinitely curious. thanks
Wrong forums, not Airborne, but answer submitted anyway. 😛
/me doesn't do algebra. Kungfu Ninjas do you know the problem with the algebra problem?
there is no reason to do any of that because A=B is already in the simplest form. also the only way for A=B and A+B=B is for A and B to = 0
you have pointed out the trivial fact that there must be something wrong with the proof. The puzzle is to find the error in the proof. That is the reason to do these kind of puzzles: exercise in finding errors in what appear to be good proofs. It is also good exercise for elaborating the meaning of proofs such as the proof that the sum of an infinite number of positive integers is -1/12. Bottom line, math can be fun.

If you divide both sides by (A-😎, and A=B is a given, then you are dividing by zero. That is why this is invalid. It can be used to prove the equivalency of any two numbers if one is double the other.
Do I get college credit for this?
uhhh...I can count to potato?
IRC...Come on ppl...It only takes a few minutes of your day to complete the tasks at the VERY least...Show some friggin SUPPORT here...
