Some Clarifications on the Issues

During this campaign, many GPN members have found it a good way to put the blame on me for certain events that happened in the past. While I was active in the governments from that time, I do not think it is fair to put the blame on me.
Also another issue is NoTie, who when CP had all the state funds stolen. Individuals are spreading rumors that I stole the money, which is NOT true and are complete lies.
Another issue that people have is negotiating with Poland. While I understand the sentiment, I think some clarification on that issue and my standpoint should be made clear.
Finally there is also some unlclear things about an invasion of eBelgium. I think that people again are over exaggerating there.
So that is why I am writing this article to set the facts straight and put an end to the confusion.
1) The Money Market Issue
The entire money market issue is from when gold prices were rising. The admins had set a system in place in which raw materials were sold at a fixed price. As a result there was constantly more and mopre money entering the game. During the months before we were seeing the gold price rise steadily from 1 gold = 800 NLG to at the time I proposed a bill to 1 gold = 2000 NLG. While the eNL had a lot of NLG it was becomeing worth less and less with each passing week.

In it we would transfer the NLG to gold, in order to preserve our money, as it was getting less and less valuable by the day.

As you can see it was passed with 100%. Even members of the GPN, including vS, voted in favour.
As a result we started to buy the gold for currency. The result was that within a few weeks the MM rose to a level of 1 Gold = 3000 NLG. Many people seeing the same dilemma were basically doing the same. On average the price we received during this period was 2200 nlg for 1 gold (this was due to the MM rising daily.
It was only after a few weeks when this was finished that the admins changed their product bot, an the MM collapsed to the levels we see today.
Do I feel bad that this happened?
Yes I did, because it showed the admins determination to destroy the game. In fact I was so pissed at this that I went on my leave of eRep.
Should I take the entire blame for this? No. I accept the facts that happened, because the admins are impossible to calculate what they will do next. I think the entire congress of that time feels bad for what happened, but again there was no way of knowing what would happen. Our actions were based on what the current situation dictated.
Hindsight is always great, but that does not change the facts or the reasoning. If we had known what the admins would do, we would have never exchanged the NLG. But the facts remain that at the time it was the best coarse of action, and I will defend that standpoint.
2) Notie and the missing gold.
When Notie was elected CP for a second term, there was a theft in our ingame treasury. All the gold mysteriously disappeared. During this time a number of people all had access to the DNB. Notie received all the blame for this, and as a result he was impeached. This was because he gave little or no information on the matter. I agreed on his impeachment based on the grounds that he failed to communicate to the people. That he stole the money, I still have my doubts on that and will never be sure. Part of me believes he may have, but another part believes that it was foreigners who hacked the account.
The reason I say this is because during the weeks before there were also similar thefts from other national treasuries. Notie did communicate with the admins, and said that there was no way of tracing who did it because proxy servers were used. As the admins only contact with the CPs on these issues, there was little anyone could really do.
Van Spijk even made claims that the people who ahd acess stole the money. So far as I know, I found out about the theft hours after it occurred, and Garmr and Luuklag saw that it had happened within the time span it occurred. I have known these people for so long that I have complete trust that they would never do such a thing. I think to place blame without evidence is cowardly and unfair.
In the end this is a matter that will forever remain unsolved, unless someone decides to confess on the issue.
3) Negotiations with Poland
I think people believe that I will go to Poland and make a treaty without negotiating it with congress or holding a referendum. This is wrong.
All I was stating is that as country president, it is important to have all options available. The truth of the matter is Poland outnumbers us on all fronts, and it will be impossible for us to hold a region for any prolonged period.
I would love nothing more than to fight and liberate the region, but sometimes it is for the best to put emotions aside and look at other ways. My idea was actually very basic. Just see if Poland is willing to negotiate on the return of our regions, or offer us any form of compensation for holding our high grain region. If there is a possibility, I would put it before congress and let them have the final say in the matter.
People have also said Poland cannot be trusted. This is true, but we have to remember that we too have broken agreements with Poland. So to say otherwise would be making us all be hypocrites. The moment that it is Poland’s best interest to screw us over, they will and we would do the same.
I would love to fight, but as CP you have a responsibility to examine all options, no matter how unpopular they may be. What is the worst that could happen if we don’t even examine negotiations, they would wipe us? Well right now were not even on the map, so something tells me our current plan of action isn’t working.
4) The invasion of eBelgium
My reference to ebelgium was meant as a joke. It was more referring to the last time I was CP and we invaded eBE for the fun of it. In fact I was elected on doing just that! Our plan was then to get some activity in the country and have some fun. During this time we did increase our activity, did have some fun and did help a mini baby boom in both countries.
People said we destroyed our relation with eBelgium, and possibly other countries. What people fail to realize is that eRep is just a game. The idea is to invade our neighbors, it is to have fun. If you can’t accept this, then your playing the wrong game.
It never was our intention to occupy them, like Poland occupied us. People also said that we should have done a training war… but where’s the fun and excitement in that.
As CP my first priority will be to regain our regions and hold on to them. Sometime people also need to learn that this is a game and not real life.

Well said and all the truth. Especially the eBE thing in which they were under PTO by a group of G50 as well as later Libertad lead by a player named Vincent Pain. eBE still faced the threat of Vincent Pain today. G50 is a Polish PTO unit with gov support and the war to reduce eBE down to one region so they can have a really small congress pool which they can control. eBE Goopypants was too arrogant to do anything and we acted on our best interest and theirs with the war. It was fun and pragmatic. For if the Poles PTOed eBE, ONE would have a great location to cause trouble in NL France and Germany.
As to the money issue, If GPN members are to attack Auggy for it, they should attack themselves for vS voted on the same proposal. Currency exchanges are extremely volatile due to the actions of the admins, to attack Auggy on this is really poor and low of them. It is even lower when most of their members voted on the same bill. So it is ok for GPNers to vote for the same policy but not ok if Auggy does it. Double standards are never cool and I see GPN is running a dirty campaign of slander and mud slinging. It is a shame to see such rhetoric and attacks used in their election campaign.

Really, spreading lies in eBE saying Auggy wants to invade eBE again is dishonest and really lame. It is indeed a shame that vS needs to resort to lies and mudslinging for this election.

Maybe im not paying close enough attention to things, But i do see people from GNP question things, on articles and such. But for all i know that are there personal opinions loss from being a GNP member, what i do see none stop is you attacking GNP for anything and everything. I hear you none stop saying slander and such that the GNP is doing give links where they are doing that, or else it is you doing the slander towards GNP.
As far as actions go vS set up a MU that he is funding with hes own money and eDutch citizen can join and work in communes that he funds, What i see you do and those that you support or support you is working in USA for a MU that gives tons of weapons to fight with for there fights. In short i seen Van_Spijck do allot for eDutch Citizens while i only see you being negative about vS and hes political party.
Oh ps that Financial artikale by the MoF far as i know he is from a other political party, and for as far i read it seems pretty much fact based, yes im sure rest of the government at the time is to putt blame on as well, but as CP he is the end responsible one, so to say its slender made up by GNP is complete dishonesty.
1) This was to be expected. I even advocated it at the time, as soon as the changes were applied money would have been turned back. May not have been entirely your fault, but the MoF should have taken the fall for this and should have exchanged the money back, even if this meant losses. Every first grader understands more money = higher exchange rates, less money = lower exchange rates.
2) Still shady bussiness, perhaps we will never find out, but you must understand that we look at the people whom had acces with suspicion? This is not more then natural and in my personal opinion any who had acces and is not deemed not guilty should not hold any office in eNL. You would deem the opposite neccesary when vS would have been president at that time.
3) Been there done that, nothing will help in that respect. The Dutch state is nearly broke due to the joke explained in point 1, the regions can't be rented (for 20.000CC a piece a month I believe?) you do not have the money. The only other way to get the regions is to fight for them and use externals to defeat the polish, in order to do so, you must remain friends with surrounding areas.
4) Also in official propoganda you do not, just do not refer to jokes. How about if Geert Wilders would refer to the Crusades in his official program released last week; you remember guys that one time we invaded your land because we thought it was right and maybe or maybe not you might have agreed with it. (maybe a bit over the top but still). You are putting the rest of the country on the line in order for a joke and we have enough hostility in our area with the Polaks roaming about.
4. So what if the joke is made on April first? Many ridiculous ideas pop up on that date, the very same date that Auggy published his previous article.
And yes, those ridiculous ideas are announced by official press releases.
And actually, it was already too clear that it was a joke, from the formulation. For a genuine april fools day joke it should have been stated much more seriously.
Last time I checked, those were fun jokes and not threaths to land or lives, but could be that the news I watch is a lot different from fox news or anything in that general spectrum.

You had enough chance to join a real eNL MU, butyou chose not to, knowing you'll loose these elections and want to return to the eUSA asap then.

Reinier, seeing as you use "we" (in a reply in this thread), does that mean you are speaking for everyone in GPN? Are you sure you want to do that with such a fickle statement? Despite being in an MU, you still choose your own battles. Plus, the link between being in an eUSA MU and returning to the eUSA is one based on no factual information what so ever. Can't speak on 2, 3, or 4 but I can understand the logic on 1. Obviously that gold should have been sold immediately after the market began to go down. I don't know what you ended up doing when the signs were recognized but you probably should have sold asap to mitigate losses.

Basically I find it very hard to believe the price of gold dropped so drastically in only a few hours. This is a process that would take weeks to occur and could easily be checked to mitigate losses or even turn a profit. Gold was losing it's value because the bot had stopped functioning and spitting out currency. The markets wouldn't violently react in a span of hours but gradually over a period of time.
@Aries: Don't forget that the market is now stabilized because we have offers both ways. The way it used to be was between 2000 and 3000 NLG equals 1 gold in one direction, and 1000 NLG is 1 gold in the opposite direction. The value of gold was that figure between 2000 and 3000, the other way around was virtually unused.
People creating an offer that is one NLG cheaper than the other offers would see another person creating an even cheaper offer. And potential gold buyers would wait seeing that the prices dropped.
In the end this drop WAS very sudden.
It was deffinately used Djirtsdew. Back than I used it a lot as it gave big results. Now it's much less profitable and i hardly use it anymore

I wasn't there when brown substance began to hit the fan, seems to me like it was a genuine screw up by a lot of people, intentional or not and thus I cannot and will not judge you (or anyone involved) on that matter.
On the whole eBelgium joke thing, it just sounds stupid to me.
Yes it's a game (thank god! we'd be in World War XVIII by now if it wasn't) but it has a different meaning to everyone, some see it more as a competition in which they want to bring eNL to it's 17th century glory while others see it more as a way to goof around.
The moment you chose to have a run for CP you took it upon yourself to look after the needs of both groups, and people put their trust in you to do so and voted for you. (que Uncle Ben/Spiderman quote).

Once again, my problem is not with the fact that you bought gold, just with the fact that you bought it at a price higher then 1000. Even when official prices were 3.000 you still could also buy at 1.000 which is the max price you can offer. You didn't do that but you absolutely should have. Even more; After buying you should immediately have sold again for the market price making instant profit instead of loss...

Those days noone bought NLG on the MM if it would be sold for 0.001 gold/NLG. So the choice was between leaving it as NLG or accepting an offer for 2 thousand and something NLG equals one gold.
You couldn't get profit from the MM except by correctly guessing the trend the exchange rate would have.
Initially they guessed correctly, but they didn't sell on the peak, but way too late...
In all honostly; I still find it very strange that when the state lost 2.5 million nlg by the hands of this Auggustus caracter, that same caracter made millions on that same monetary market for himself and his friends. You call that slander, I call that fishy!
