So you're angry about being occupied

Day 1,545, 06:07 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Elle Roslin

Recently I have been seeing a lot of (understandably) passionate articles about our present state of occupation. Here I hope to open some dialogue on what are good/bad ideas for assisting the UK in getting back on the map! This information is especially directed at newer players, who are less familiar with game mechanics and Erepublik e-history.

So here is my attempt at a simple, Letterman-esque list of best practices and things to avoi😛

1. Invest in yourself - use gold only to buy companies. Your first priority should be obtaining food self sufficiency by building a few food companies and the necessary raw resources. After that you can build more raw materials companies so that you can begin to generate income and buy tanks.

Money, that's what I want

2. Fight smart (or not at all) - when you are new it can be tempting to spend your money and gold in a glorious crusade against our opponents. Don't do this! Remember that this game is 3+ years old, and there are people here who can do more in one hit than you can with your entire daily health. Save up, train daily, and then begin to fight once you can self-supply. Other guides have been written about fighting intelligently, but a quick tip - don't fight if we are currently winning a battle by 55% or more.

I couldn't miss an opportunity to throw in some Pitt

3. Get involved - learn from older players, they are a great resource. Many are also generous and will lend a hand with either information or free supplies! You can also sign up on the forums to get free grants for companies and town hall upgrades, and free food from many political parties. Joining irc is also a great way to meet new people and become part of the social network here.

Let's get together, and feel alright

4. Tell your friends! - Erep is a game of numbers. If we have more citizens, our power grows. So if you have friends who would be interested in this game, tell them about it!

Remember to turn the sound on

5. Ignore the trolls - there are a lot of them. Don't feed them.

6. Save up some bazookas - If you are young this is especially useful. You can do 30K per bazooka, much higher than you can accomplish on your own. If you have up a few dozen bazookas, all of a sudden you have a significant amount of damage that you can pump into a critical UK battle! Now imagine there are 100 other people just like you doing the exact same thing. Once again the power of numbers becomes apparent in this game!

7. Suggest ideas, not complaints - It's easy to fling dirt, but not so easy to make decisions. Do you have a legitimate gripe with the way things are being run? Think you have an idea that will really help? Think you can do the job better yourself? Well then let the rest of us know! It is very useful to have new ideas, but articles that just complain really do not do us any good.

8. Collaborate - talk with each other! We're stronger as a collective group than we are divided. The various MU's and political parties we are all in should boost our social experience of the game, but should not limit us in our ability to work together.

9. Be active - train and work as many days in a row as you can. This can be as easy as 5 minutes per day!

Don't forget to stretch

10. Have fun! - remember that this is just a game, and you should come here for enjoyment. The real world has enough problems, we don't need to be stressed out here too!

Hey, have fun out there!

So there you have it, some brief thoughts on what we can all do to work together more effectively. If anyone has any other suggestions or amendments, feel free to post in the comments and I will update!

As always, from Roz!
