Small Nations Exist, State Dept. Gives Away Money and the Proteus Bump!

We at GBM would like to propose a toast to one week of relevance for the Discovery Channel

This episode of Goodbye Blue Monday will be in three parts,

A Quick Essay on Small Nations
Oh Hey, The Ambassador Lottery Happened Again
And the Potus elections are happening

So first,
Small Nations, What are They?

Small nations have it rough in this game. As a former president of one of the smaller nations in erep (eSwitzerland) I would know. Most people from big nations don’t understand the mentality a small nation goes through, theres a lot less emphasis on pride and a lot more on survival…so first to clear up a few misconceptions.



Let’s call him Austria the Grouch 😛

1)When a small nation MPPs someone or a group of people from an enemy alliance they are that nations pawns and will fight with them to the death

Usually Smaller Nations can’t afford to MPP on friendship alone, and if they are MPPing ONE nations it doesn’t mean their populace likes ONE it means if they don’t MPP them they won’t have a country. I hear the argument “We should try to MPP X Small nation to gain their friendship” a lot, well that’s nice and all but when country X MPPs your mortal enemy don’t be surprised, they are just trying to survive.

2) Small countries have any inherent value

They really don’t as allies, they are weak small and can be occupied for their resources

3) There’s less bickering and more unity

People still fight about arbitrary issues just as frequently, it’s just more frustrating to watch >.>

4) Living in a smaller country sucks

Some of the best players I have ever known were in Switzerland, and while the community is certainly smaller then let’s the in the US it is very tight amongst friends. Even if game mechanics are against you, was the game ever about the game? I rest my case.

So now on to some examples of sucky things that happen in small countries so maybe you will one day learn to understand them 😁

The Switzerland Strategy



In other words, Switzerland went without a war for over a year because tbh nobody cared about Switzerland nor knew it existed. It was still many months after the introduction of Cattle resources in Switzerland before someone noticed and conquered.

Interference



Well given how weak small nations are a few tanks from some other countries can make huge differences in battles. A while ago Austria and Switzerland were fighting a training war when suddenly some foreign powers (I can’t remember which) decided they wanted Austria to conquer Switzerland. This was narrowly avoided thanks to the hard work of many Austrians

Lack of War

Small nations are too weak to take part in wars of signifigance so occasionally people want to have some fun and attack other small nations, great idea right? No…remember what I said about interference?

Who gets the Proteus Bump?




I haven’t done this for a while, but the candidate I support for president gets a Proteus Bump or endorsement

Anyway, from what I’ve seen so far, this month isn’t very hard for me to decide,

I’m not even sure who all the candidates are >.>
For some odd reason I’m on the Lib Primaries, luckily Jelly and I made sure that a legitimate candidate won

but out of all of this I have seen one strong candidate and one strong campaign,

so along with what appears to be the USWP, USLP and Fed nominations,

I give the Proteus bump to Cerb
