Small MU's are Flavour of the Month

Day 2,199, 09:43 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Mr Woldy

So long, Legion

For a long time Legion was the eUK’s largest and strongest MU, and with the announcement of its dissolution many MU’s, including my own have seen their ranks swell. For a brief time I was a member of legion, before joining funky. I then went on to try my own hand at running a light hearted MU and enjoy very much the banter and fun the WW’s likes to have. However, what I really want to talk about is the fine example that Legion, funky and others set in operating party neutral MU’s.

Legion would often top the rankings, something which over the past months MU’s such as TUP Family or British Army have often done, though Legion did so without politicising their power or influence. If we turn back the blocks to before MU’s and to the time when we ran a national military, we in the Navy (pacific fleet o/) and even further back those running the Royal Guard (Horice o/) when through great lengths to ensure that leadership wasn’t exploited to influence the voting of soldiers. The military was not a political entity and individuals who aimed to use rank or status to influence the voting of troopers through military channels were chastised.

Today, with the existence of Party Political MU’s we ought to be sensitive to their actions in other ways. Without a national military and with smaller, independent military units being the taste of the month their is clear scope for people with shared views to band together and fight as friends. However when these groups grow we ought to be conscious of the extent to which military might and political opinion crossover. Political divides can create problems and it is very important that that military power is used, or rather withheld, in order to make a statement. One party may not agree with those in charge, but to not fight for the eUK based on which party holds the executive is to blackmail the state and we must always ensure that we all fight together against our common enemies, and that we all respect the voters and the decisions they make on the 5th.

This is an issue related to our Congress, I can’t say I recall any MU ever acting in such a way (the readers may prove me wrong) but we must also remember that it is not up to fighters to make statements, MU’s may exist to support players and offer an added sense of community to party members, but they shouldn’t act as a means of influencing politics. If there is a legitimate issue with the executive then it is congress’s responsibility to act on that issue and to keep the Prime Minister in check.

So what I’m getting at here is that we can all follow the example Legion has left us, we don’t need a political spin to be great MU’s and those MU’s who operate under a party’s gaze have to remember that MU’s exist to fight for our country, not to force through the views of a party. I am glad to see that the rankings show more and more smaller, party neutral MU’s breaking into the top 10 (WW’s is currently eleventh, oh the pain) and providing the infrastructure of those MU’s is top notch we will begin to see how many smaller MU’s all fighting together may be more reliable than a fewer volatile MU’s fighting for themselves. And then there is of course the fact that variety is the spice of life. You can now afford to swap MU’s and experience different flavours to a greater extent than ever before. Hurrah.

The Average MU Commander

Small MU’s are the taste of the month

With the rankings being dominated by MU’s with no more than 40 members, it is fair to say that the age of the smaller MU is hitting the eUK, and as outlined I feel that this is a positive. So positive, that WW’s is offering a competition for all small MU members. To enter is easy, the only requirement is that you have eUK citizenship and are in a MU with less than 50 members.

And what do you have to do? Well nothing beats a good old fashioned caption competition:

Simply post your caption in the comments section and the winning player will receive ten Q7 guns, and 1,000 GBP will be sent to their MU.
