Slow but Steady! How to Prepare to Run for President

Day 1,716, 02:39 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

Many players show no interest in politics or being anything more than a nobody in a sea of faces. But for those that desire eternal glory, one path towards such status is to become Country President. As one of those aspiring hopefuls that one day wants to become the leader of our glorious nation, I've figured out ways to improve the chance of success the first time around.

If you desire to get to the top, you need friends. It's important to be able to get along with other important players, because even if they don't support your run for CP, they certainly won't try to tear you down, and the writings of an influential player can ruin campaigns. It's often suggested to go beyond the simple game mechanics themselves, such as going on the various IRC pages to chat with players in the same country, military unit, or party.

Speaking of writing, starting a newspaper is also a good chance to improve a player's status. By writing and sharing ideas and beliefs, newspaper editors can quickly gain friends and reputation around the country and sometimes internationally as well. Using the power of the press can definitely help capture the informed player's vote.

As if this wasn't obvious enough, don't rush into a candidacy. It's a very good move to wait for a year or at least several months before trying to rule a country. As this is a deceptively deep game, it's always smart to learn the ropes and take time to research the finer points before trying anything.

If simply being a spectator isn't working, consider working as a minister. By training in a particular field, such as foreign affairs or monetary policy, players can gain a spot in a more experienced player's cabinet, giving them a direct source to learn faster, as well as a group of players to both have fun with and learn from. Plus, being strong in a field means that you can focus your attention more on other areas that are less developed, while the average player would try to absorb everything at once.

If you've secured a few friends, a good reputation, and some experience under your belt, you're all set to become a potential CP! You're never expected to know everything as CP, but a good, well-versed, kindhearted player is always a good choice. That's why I'm officially announcing my candidacy for the August 5th elections! Wish me luck! (Yeah no...Maybe next time eh?)

Until next time, take care!
