SHATTERED: The Broken Legacy of Harrison Richardson

The crop fields of Kansas inspired us to sing of America's "amber waves of grain." Now those fields are scorched and barren. A coordinated assault by PEACE forces conquered the final high grain region of the United States, and with it placed a grim capstone on the U.S. President Harrison Richardson's first term.

In the final five days of his first term, Richardson cannot be happy. In the past 24 hours his young administration sacked Deputy Secretary of State and popular Congressman Chris Stanwick over a leaked peace treaty proposal, and lost Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Eugene Harlot, who resigned after America's catastrophic loss of Kansas.

Despite a heated July presidential race against Emerick, many in the United States had confidence in Harrison Richardson's leadership. A long-time Secretary of State under former President Scrabman, Richardson spent months cultivating the network of international friendships and connections necessary to propel an up-and-coming politician to the presidency. During the campaign, Richardson exuded confidence and a sharp knowledge of the issues, and few were surprised when he coasted into the White House.

Now, that White House is under siege. PEACE forces have conquered South Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky, and have recently invaded West Virginia on a march to the White House. With the forces of PEACE moving in from the South, West, and East, Richardson finds himself alone in the White House, his trusted advisers resigning or fired, and his administration leaking state secrets with abandon.

Many wonder what happened, and certainly President Richardson cannot bear all the blame for PEACE's march across America. Much of the groundwork for this invasion was laid under the Scrabman Administration. But that cannot absolve Richardson's scattershot leadership when PEACE opened multiple fronts and turned up the heat on the U.S. Military.

History will show, perhaps, that Richardson focused too heavily on defending Canada while PEACE made inroads through Alaska and South Carolina. By the time Canada was abandoned by U.S. forces, PEACE had the capability to launch three invasions per day on U.S. soil. While Kansas lay under siege, a strained Department of Defense issues orders to defend...Oklahoma? Miscommunications abounded.

Perhaps the coordinated efforts of PEACE simply overwhelmed President Richardson, for at every turn he found his administration outmaneuvered and outflanked by PEACE's tanking abilities. The stress got to Richardson's closest allies, who became snarly and accusatory towards critical members of Congress and the public. After posting a copy of Richardson's proposed treaty with PEACE on the eU.S. forum - the same treaty which Chris Stanwick was fired for revealing - veteran player NoneSuch found himself banned. With failures externally, Richardson's team turned the clampdown inwards.

In light of these setbacks, Richardson announced his plan to seek a second term as U.S. President. As the United States shrinks and its territories fall to PEACE, Americans are left wondering exactly what United States Richardson wants to lead. Chris Stanwick, once close to Richardson, announced a competing bid for the White House. More challengers are expected to surface in the next few days.

What remains of the shattered legacy of Harrison Richardson will be seen on August 5.

Unfortunately, like President Hoover with the Great Depression, Richardson is going to take the blame for what happened from most people. Never mind the fact that most of this mess was inherited and he doesn't deserve the blame.

"Many wonder what happened, and certainly President Richardson cannot bear all the blame for PEACE's march across America."

It's true. A lot was inherited, but that's no excuse for losing Kansas, because you ordered your citizens to fight in a state that is of little importance.

Nicely written. And yes, Sulvor, he was. But there's a reason such things are kept private IRL, you know... releasing it weakens the bargaining position of eUSA.

The article has many things right, but it's blaming the wrong person. It should be blaming our government infrastructure as a whole instead of just one man. The president doesn't make every decision on his own, so not every outcome can be put on his shoulders, even though that's what is convenient for us.

Emerick Is Great

HR will be known forever as a man we deserved Smart connected to friends an ability to fend off verbal attacks with the least of effort

But allas He was not a great man. He was no superman no hero for us to look up to. When PEACE came He found himself cornered, overwhelmed, and unprepared. I will always respect the Man Richard Harrison. But I cannot respect the President HR

Chris Stanwick was one of the few intelligent members of Richardson's political machine. Now the eUS will starve, unable to buy food and feed new members, while we throw ourselves at a battlefield to defend a state with a Q1 hospital and Q0 defenses. Why? Oil. I'd like full disclosure on how many politicos and their cronies own oil companies or manufacturing companies that depend on that RM. eAmerican soldiers are Richardson's pawns. I'll fight for food, gladly. I won't, however, fight for greed. Further, should Richardson gain a second term, I'll not fight at all.

HR was quite correct to defend Canada and if Ontario is threatened we should throw everything we have in there, too.

As for mismanagement and miscommunication . . . well, there's a reason the terms SNAFU and FUBAR were coined in the RL military.

Richardson is a good man.

But this fighting is getting out of hand. If it continues any further, i will stop at nothing to pull myself out of the fire and get my ass to ireland.

I love fighting just as much as the next guy. But its becoming a problem. My home is ravaged, i don't make enough money to buy weapons. So i'm issuing a total of maybe 65 damage towards the war effort daily, which is nothing compared to my potential of over 200.

I think we need to work a ceasefire with PEACE and get our asses back together. Its become evident that at this point, PEACE contains the ability to kick our ass and as it stands, we will make no headway.

But hell. I bet by the end i'll be promoted from Lieutenant.

Stanwick and his Umbrella conspirators may as well be borderline traitors, willing to bargain away our futures and liberties in exchange for what? A couple months more to live, or worse, become thralls in exchange for a few resourceless territories? This guy is an idiot and Chris Stanwick is a bigger idiot. Not voted, defo not subbed.
