SFH Issue 3: The Indos are Coming! Seriously...?

Day 2,110, 03:18 Published in New Zealand Australia by Ginny Tory

A Haiku to the eNew Zealand Government...

Indonesia? N.E.?
Who’s stupid idea was that?
We are now fucked. Thanks.

Indonesia, Natural Enemy

As an ex-eAustralian, a country who's people hated the eIndonesians, now finding herself in eNew Zealand that has just recently Natural Enemy-ed eIndonesia and started a war with them...feels a little like a full circling. Landing back in another "Gr, eIndonesians" place.

Great, because once an eAustralia, always hate eIndonesians. Let's kill more eIndos! ATTAAAAACK!
Bad, because I thought I wouldn't have to deal with fighting those arses again.

But game cultivated, mentally embedded culture aside...
eNew Zealand with its 4 allies vs. eIndonesia with its 17 allies?
What manner of eejits in the eNew Zealand government thought that that would be a good idea?

My response to this situations:
Great. We're fucked.

Political Activism

New Zealan😛

Active Citizens: 355

Political Party Members: 167
-Ujedinjenje ili smrt: 44
-Black Party of New Zealan😛 39
-Love and Peace: 36
-Peace 'n' Prosperity Party: 23
-Te Pori: 10
-People's Political Party: 9
-Ranguini: 6

Politically Uninvolved eKiwis: 188

That's 47% of the eKiwi population involved in politics. And, as we all know not everyone aligned with a party is really, truly active in the party. So that's less than 47% of the eKiwi population is politically active within eRepublik. Meaning over half the voices in eNew Zealand stay silent.

Can I just say,
eKiwis, GET INVOLVED!

You're missing out on a huge party of the eRepublik game play! You're not letting your voice be heard. If you want something to change, and I can safely assume everyone has something about eNZ that they'd like to change, then get up and do something about it.

And after this whole eIndonesia = Natural Enemy thing, could we please get everyone here paying attention to politics. Have everyone involved, educated, informed, and voting - responsibly and not mindlessly. Cause like it or not, involved or not, the government is going to affect you. So why be passive and take it when you can most easily do something about it. So we don't have this little group running around free to f*ck about as they please.

I always got the annoying feeling that most eNew Zealand politics leans toward an 'Old Boys' Club' feel. That feeling hasn't gone away, and this sort of shows that. Don't let them have all the fun. Get in there!

Communication and Transparency

After 'yelling' at the non-politically active eKiwis, I now turn to you, the politically active eKiwis.

You're half-ly to blame for the other half's state.

As I said, you guys most definitely have an 'Old Boys' Club' attitude.

As much as you guys talk about bringing in new players and such, with all the best intentions, you're shite at creating the right conditions for it.

Much of what occurs within the eNew Zealand government stays in the meeting room of the 'head guys'. The rest of us just see the results of the talks - i.e. NE-ing eIndonesia. It is hard for the younger people to get involved when they are not kept in the loop and informed. Sure, they should be more active and seek out information, but at the same time you in the government need to supply the information. Everybody needs to do their part and work together. Don't be lazy and put all the work on others.

The eNew Zealand media is generally dead. Plain and simple. Nothing is ever posted much and what is usually posted is frivolous material. Don't get me wrong, I like the un-related news articles that do come out. But, a country can only afford that luxury after the media is used for the right purposes, those of communication and transparency. Media is designed first and foremost to keep citizens informed, secondly to entertain.

What the eNew Zealand needs, desperately, is for the government to utilize the media to keep everyone informed of what's going on. Write weekly news articles stating what the political meetings/chats/conferences held have been about. Just as the American television system has free channels televising everything that happens within the walls of congress and senate for the citizens.

Don't just tell us what you've decided to do, we can see all that. Explain yourselves. Tell us both what and more importantly why. So we may understand. If you're too afraid to stand there and say why you did something, scared the masses will attack you, then obviously you didn't do the right thing now did you? If you're bold enough to state you screwed the enational over and are proud of it, congratulations, but now we know you to not keep you around. Bad for those in power maybe but better for the nation as a whole - people will be informed and those in power, for being honest, will need to do better. So, start talking.

It is only after the government opens up is when citizens are able to become more politically active because they are informed well enough to make decisions on what to do. The comments section of those government news articles could also serve as a direct communication between the people and the head. Not to have everything filtered through representatives.

If you don't, then it just seems like you're being un-inviting to the younger players, as though they can't get involved. Plus, young players are easily intimidated. Probably feeling like they're encroaching on someone else's territory. To have the open government would give them the impression, at least, of a government more welcoming and open to everyone's involvement.

If you really don't do, then it gives the impression you don't want well informed people to be involved so that 'Old Boys' Club' can stay and keep all the power. Also known as...corruption. Now, you wouldn't want that impression do you?

So, start communicating more. Start being open. Start being transparent.

Concluding, eNew Zealand politics needs to evolve.
