Scheisskopf for Congress

Day 1,035, 16:03 Published in USA USA by Lieutenant Scheisskopf

Apologies to my foreign subscribers, but this is my political stumping…
It is clear that the eUS is in need of solid leadership. Combine this with my performance in the past month in Congress, and the willingness of the USWP to host me as a candidate, I am announcing my intention seek reelection as representative of Michigan for the coming month. A brief bio and my platform are included, and I would be honored to receive your support in the elections on Day 1070.

I came into eRepublik over a year ago, starting on Day 578 in June 2009. During my time in the game, I have been a stalwart member of the eUS military, serving as an officer in the Mobile Infantry (August-December 2009), the Airborne (January-June 2010), and now with the Cavalry. In peripheral assignments, I have had the honor of serving as a party adviser (for The Bull Moose Party in 2009); a professor (of Journalism, at North American University); Secretary of Media for President Josh Frost; and a Presidential adviser for two more Presidents. I have demonstrated a hard work ethic, willingness to accept responsibility, and the ability to lead a group of eUS citizens, and hope to undertake similar leadership roles in Congress.

My newspaper, which you are now reading, is my biggest claim to fame. I have been a prolific writer throughout my eLife with one of the world's largest privately-owned newspapers, and hope that my collection of articles shows the thoughtful and unbiased manner in which I approach eRep affairs. To be sure, I will take this same pragmatic thinking to the Capitol, and hope to work with the other representatives in enacting some much-needed reforms.

Platform Issues
On immigration: Citizen migration within eRepublik is generally for negative purposes, unless a new player was born into a region without realizing (or initially caring) that the region was occupied by another country. I fully support the idea of a waiting period before granting citizenship, and think that any citizen request needs to be “quality controlled” by at least two other individuals whose loyalty is not in question, before a request is approved. The country is under constant political takeover (PTO) threat, and it can be averted only through due diligence.

On retention: eRep populations are stagnating as we lose gamers and fail to retain those who newly join. As I’ve written before, the key is community. I believe it is incumbent on us to promote communities for all interests in the eUSA so that we may maintain our population. The eUS government should take a proactive role in reaching out to new citizens and in showing them all their options (government, politics, military, business, etc.). Building community creates more talent for the eUSA to draw upon, and more interest in the game creates a virtuous cycle which would only help our country's success and our personal interest.

On military/government cooperation: I am especially hopeful that as a military citizen myself, I can help bridge the gap between the civilian government and the military. Especially now, when the eUS population is dwindling, we need unity between the two largest groups of active citizens. The animosity and mutual distrust which has plagued civilian-military cooperation in the past is unacceptable and must be stopped. The key here is to create a mutual understanding and respect for each other, different though the two branches may be. By working together, the country can overcome inactivity and stagnation, make the threat of PTO a non-issue, and can return the eUSA to its most successful days.

Above all, I want to see the eUSA move forward and thrive in the coming month. I bring a wealth of eRep experience, common sense, and the ability to draw on these two assets to make well-informed decisions. I promise that voting for me will keep at least one pragmatic citizen in Congress who will be willing to work with my fellow representatives, to serve the eUS citizens who elected us.
