RL safety concern for players in Queensland
Lord TJ
Due to the breakup of former Tropical Cyclone Oswald, Queensland has been inundated with rainfall and heavy storms in most parts of the state from Central Queensland south to the New South Wales border.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued several advisories and the many State Members of Parliament, City Councillors from Logan, Brisbane, Ipswich, Gold Coast and Moreton Bay I have been in contact with directly are reporting over 14,000 homes affected by power loss in the greater Brisbane alone.
Weather modelling from an old school mate of mine at BOM says a number of areas will be hit by flash flooding. Official reports coming through are also saying Ipswich will be flooded at Goodna with the possibility, although not certainly, January 2011 flood levels.
Now for the bad news - Brisbane City has been confirmed that it will flood again. The good side is that it's anticipated to be 5 metres < 2011 levels. While anything is bad, those who were there in the aftermath of 2011 will agree with the comparison.
We have several players in the mix of this and I know some who may not have transport if they get stuck, broke down or need assistance. If yas need a hand - shout out. Some players have my cell phone number - call if you need day or night.
Cheers
TJ

It won't be as bad a 2011, but it'll still be pretty bad. Take care guys.
Sad but not true in all cases Arf. Ipswich flooding at Laidley is expected at-level with 2011. Ipswich Cr for Goodna is already posting affected properties and Colleges Crossing, Savages Crossing, Kholo Bridge and Burtons Bridge on the Bremer River are closed. Depending on the areas, some are the same, some are not as bad, while some are already worse - and there's still a solid week of rain left to go.
I hope everyone stays safe! Please keep us posted Mick.
We need the rain so I ain't complaining.
Take care everyone. Stay safe.
@infin not so much worried about the rain rather what it's doing to roads and properties on river banks. Plus my local coffee shop was without power yesterday when I needed it.
RL message activate😛
Take care, auzzies. Just seen the news... hopefully the damages will be limited and no real harming coming up to lives. Just seen the news.
All the best over from here, other generally and regularily natural disaster punished people...
Cheers Manrod o/
so i see you do have a nice side 😛 voted
Don't confuse e and RL. This was RL because I don't have all of my RL Queensland friends who play on social media. In role play I fight like the Irish!
Cheers TJ. I'm one of the lucky ones that has power still, only lost it for a few minutes a couple of times last night. I havent blown away yet, but was awake all night monitoring the winds and the property. As you know, I only moved here the week before Christmas, so I am unfamiliar with the house and what it can withstand.
Now the next concern is the creek that is at my rear boundary, Norris Creek, it has come up 2m since yesterday, and has quite a rapid flow to it now. The inundation map from Logan council shows that only half my back yard should flood, I hope it doesnt come any higher than that, but the house should be safe anyway. My neighbour may be a little worse off, as his house a a few meters lower than mine. I just put a video on my facebook of the creek, Ill be monitoring that very closely now over the next 24hrs or so.
Lost power last night at around 8pm, came back on this morning at about 8 and now its gone again..... Siiiick.
Power has been out down the road here for almost a full day. Marchooydore Plaza looks like going under too.... I'm a few k's away and uphill so I get to watch the idiots on TV trying to drive through it.... morons.
Oh Bundy (way further up the coast) is 8.7mtr's under water O.o The price of Rum just went up people.
safety first

Haven't lost power here in Toowong at all, but it looks like there's going to be a bit of minor flooding around.

"Oh Bundy (way further up the coast) is 8.7mtr's under water The price of Rum just went up people."
Good to see everyones concerns are in check....... -.-"
Apparently my school is half flooded like it was in 2011, I guess i get a extra day off.
The sunshine coast (ironic name at the moment I know) looks to be out of the worst though our coast now has a major salt foam problem. Stay safe anyone down south now!
The Ocean does seem a little pissed on the Sunshine Coast Lion....
Floods up there and bushfires down here... We could use some of that water down in Victoria, please push it this way.
Anyone in effected areas, please keep safe.
lol who would drink bundy rum. i would rather drink sump run off.
The aforementioned foaming problem we're having: http://tinyurl.com/a47ju6v
This is about 10 minutes away from me, which while entertaining isn't really dangerous (unless you drive through it >_>)
Power back on in Logan, feel like I'm part of something again 🙂
Hope our QLD Buddies keep safe, don't do anything silly and just make sure you get out early if you have to. Don't want to hear about any injuries or deaths. Stay Safe all of you.
Dear god that looks horrid Lion
Good luck to everyone out there! Stay safe!
Fk after what I saw today I needed this from 2011. QUEENSLANDERS ALL!

@Teijiro: Got around to getting a report today. Our good Mayor is onto it. Times like this is good to have friends in high places to get things done.
