Fear is easy to understand. It is primordial and easily stimulated as response for self-preservation. The biggest trick is to know when to turn the fear of the enemy into an enlightened respect for the enemy. Enligthenment will come when the battles of Psyche (Superego-Ego-Id) are shed and the true self is revealed. eCanada you must shed your Ego, lose your Fear, and Revere the greatest con you have ever seen. Only then will you be ready to end your bickering, your political polarization between CEP and CSD/DAL, the pride in your parties and your disdain for the others. The Congressional Elections can bring an Anti-Crisis that will unite eCanada and prepare us to battle the real enemies outside our walls, not inside.
Augustus Baldwin should be revered for the following reasons:
A) AB has made eRepublik the Smartest Game. He has presented himself as both predator and prey. He pursues us as we pursue him. (yes, this is a lame play on words with “The Most Dangerous Game” – so kill me)
He has enlivened eCanada, amused us, and even taught us a thing or two about ourselves.
C) He has ended the bitter rivalry between CEP and CSD/DAL. All flame wars directed at current political leaders have been disregarded as we came to face a common enemy.
D) He has triggered the scapegoat mechanism that pacifies the hellish turmoil of a nation and sets it on the right path towards paradise. “This is the point where one person is singled out as the cause of the trouble and is expelled or killed by the group. This person is the scapegoat. Social order is restored as people are contented that they have solved the cause of their problems by removing the scapegoated individual, and the cycle begins again.” AB will be investigated by CSIS. AB will be tried before the Supreme Court. AB will face punishment and we will be set free.
Yet the biggest puzzle remains: “Why did AB present himself as the predator so that he would become the prey?” He did not need to reveal his identity as the leader of COBRA Organization. An Org. can function anonymously and he could have delivered all his demands behind a real Cobra Commander mask, not just an amusing comic book avatar. The Comedian’s joke is the irony that the people to whom he is cruel are the ones from whom he derives his license for cruelty. Despite fighting crime, he thrives on Chaos and destruction. He ignores all social conventions in an all-encompassing expression of total philosophical nihilism.”
Augustus Baldwin/Comedian/Cobra is a significant pairing and triangle of the psychology of repression, destruction, and redemption. Indeed, we have ABC and D (for Doomsday). Doomsday? 2)Augustus Baldwin has willingly laid himself bare before the Supreme Court.
He placed himself in contempt of court in his trial of “Dean22 vs Augustus Baldwin.” He did it in such a blatant way that he had to know he would be caught. Consider the charges: “Augustus Baldwin attempted to interfere with the orderly administration of justice and to impair the authority or dignity of the Court and the act took place before a sitting justice of the court.”
He allowed himself to be caught because he wants to test the legitimacy of the Supreme Court and prove its ineffectuality. Though he will be stamped down upon by the boot of justice, he will wriggle underfoot like the snake he is and present all manners of argument. I have to agree, but really, Plugson great article. My opinion and main concern, after reading this article, is AB the real man behind COBRA or just a puppet earning his mask. You make well and good points on his recent actions. I've known AB for some time now, going on 2 years. And what I've have learned about him is he does nothing alone. There is always a mastermind whether it be AB or the true devil but also he does nothing unless he feels that he will be satisfied with whatever outcome. What I learned from him is that he chooses his allies well but he chooses his enemies for entertainment.
Look at those he has chosen to bring down, he himself many times has told me it was fun, and Ill do it again.
