Reeling In the Years
Ian Arb
Evening Ireland!
I’m going to introduce you to the eIrish Reeling In the Years series. First up in the series is the famous Irish Republican Socialist Party (ISRP) vs Irish Union Party political rivalry. It was regarded as one of the biggest partisan politics in our history and a bloody one too!
The IRSP was founded by Brian Boru and Padraig Pearse. It was established from The Labour Party and placed itself as center-left. IRSP was a controversial figure in eIrish politics, calling for radical change to the government organisational structure and it meant competing with the Irish Union Party to establish an efficient Socialist system. They always stuck by their values and determined to reshape the daily running of the nation.
On December 7th, 2010 the party was dissolved when Ireland was completely taken over by the UK. As a result Ireland lost all of her parties. Since then, new parties have been created. Honourable mentions to members of IRSP; Aran Tal, Brian Boru, Padraig Pearse, Sean Power, Starks Hayter, TopGun, Nogin and many others I’ve forgotten.
The IUP was founded by Patton. They have been dominant on the political scene for a good number of years until they faced stiff competition from the IRSP. However both sides still had honourable respect for each other and had Ireland’s interests at heart. IUP firmly believed in the middle ground of politics and acknowledged the strength of some of the tools employed by the left side.
The exact date of when it dissolved is unknown but was succeeded by the Left Hand. Honourable mentions to members of IUP; Vyse, Gordongekko, Patton, Uthaine, Nithraldur, Castaneda and many others
The Famous Starks vs Nith battle
Starks Hayter stood for IRSP as CP candidate and competed against Nithraldur of IUP in the highest ever casted votes for Country President on Day 563 (can’t remember the exact date). Although despite Starks receiving one of the highest votes he still lost to the Nithraldur. Starks Hayter started off well but around midday Nithraldur took the lead. Credit to Starks and Aran Tal who put a formidable challenge who managed 45.48% of the votes compared to Nithraldur’s 51.29%.
Election stats:
1. Nithraldur - 159 votes - 51.29%
Irish Union Party
2. Starks Hayter - 141 votes - 45.48%
Irish Socialist Republican Party
This was probably one of the fiercest elections in my time playing this game and there was non-stop political in-fighting from both sides. Both sides wanted the best for eIreland but refused to co-operate together due to differences and divisiveness.
Until then Starks Hayter got his chance at the big seat after a huge support from a number of parties and defeated Nithraldur with ease. However Starks term never got off to a good start. He apparently went AWOL and caused the downfall of the IRSP. It wasn’t too long before Nith was back in his seat with his pants off, of course.
😉
The rivalry between IUP and IRSP didn’t help our internal politics and also hindered our foreign policy. Both sides learned to work together and build bridges to establish a sufficient community and state. It was a pretty hostile environment at the time and the standards for CP was extremely high compared to this present day. If you couldn’t handle criticism you would be shot down immediately and god I miss those days.
Cheers for reading and stay tuned for next week!

pics or it didn't happen 😛
Csn the admins go to a back up made 3-4 years ago?
Good stuff Ian. Keep 'em coming!
will read this later.
thems were the days 😛
I was part of the IUP for most of my e-life.
Did he just say that my standards are low? Haha
make a o7 move back slowly before one corners you and tells you about their past.
Wasn't directed at you Kordak. It's true that the standard of CP is very different to what it was 3-4 years ago.
Don't worry hehe 😛
I was an ISRP man myself 😛
Oh the IRC plans 🙂
Indeed they were and the IRC was mighty craic back then.
All its missing is the background music like the TV show!
Great article though
I guess I put it in the next article so!
Jesus stuff before me, before labour you old bastards
Those definitely were the days! 🙂
We should just go back to shit throwing, blood-lust, propaganda and scandals. Those are the things that allowed our natural Irishness to shine through, qualities that made us a far more interesting and colourful nation. CP elections used to be a proper battle where we tore into each other. Now they're as boring as hell. It's like trying to watch a game of cricket after last Sunday's hurling match.
comment.... comment for me on http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/peace1-2442731/1/20
I don't do Plato spamming missions 😉
From my memory the IRSP was disolved after a scandal by one of there founders. That member was MoF and lost the whole treasury. Patton had to borrow money from the English to feed our babies. The name of that party was tarnashedthey lost members, and they had to rebrand. Apple and Dub were members of IRSP but not the MoF at that time.
Diffrent time in the game Ian, keep the articles coming.
