Introducing…

The Transnational Endowment for the Arts & Athletics!

The Transnational Endowment for the Arts & Athletics (otherwise known as TEA & A) is an organization committed to bringing art created by you and sharing it with the rest of the eWorld as well as serving as a referee and scorekeeper for the various “sports” that you good folks will be playing very soon.

Now, I’m sure you guys and gals have questions, so allow me to answer some of them for you with a FAQ:

Why did you create TEA & A?
When I first came to the eRepublik, I was pretty amazed by the number of things it replicated virtually--war, politics, work, etc.---but I was saddened to find that two of the major pillars in society (arts and sports) weren’t covered! The eWorld had it all, but it didn’t have any culture--the one thing unites us instead of divides us (excluding math and science, but that’s a lot more difficult to replicate virtually).

---Art

How do I get my art showcased?
First, register at this website. Then, upload the art you’ve created to DeviantART. After that, send TEA & A a message with a link to the art and what category (see below) your art is in. TEA & A will then message you on DeviantART to find out if you’re the artist in question. Then, if your art isn’t horrible and it doesn’t violate eRepublik’s rules, we’ll showcase it in the soon-to-be created TEA & A newspaper “Arts And Sports”!

For cinematic artwork, you can upload it to Newgrounds, Youtube or DeviantART. The same rules will be applied.

What does TEA & A define as horrible?
It’s hard to say, but my standards are pretty lax.

What are the Art categories?
Since the organization has JUST been started, we’re only offering the following categories: serious art (for art that isn‘t meant to be funny), comical art (for art that‘s meant to make one lol), photography, and cinematic art (for anything animated in Flash and/or recorded with a camera).

HELP!! My country has blocked those websites you mentioned!
Message TEA & A immediately! If you know of a similar website that your nation-state hasn’t blocked, please send us a link!

Will there be art competitions?
Maybe! I don’t know yet. We’re definitely going to need more gold before that happens, though.

---Athletics

Athletics?! How will that work?
Simple. Instead of doing real sports, we’ll simply use video and computer games! :3

Details! I NEED DETAILS!
Alright. There’s two kinds of games you’ll be playing. The first one is the standard ‘high score’ kind of game, where your objective is to.. Um.. Get the high score. The second one is a multiplayer game, where you must defeat one or more players. To keep things fair, you must play games in which someone either directly watch you or watch a video of you doing it.

Tell me more about the ‘high score’ game.
Simple! Upload a video of you getting the high score to Youtube. You can either use whatever emulator you’re using to record you getting the high score or you can simply just record your monitor with a camera. Then, send TEA & A a link. We’ll then message you on your Youtube account for a conformation. After which, your high score will then be posted in our soon-to-exist newspaper, “Arts and Sports”! If you can’t beat the default high score, you won’t be featured.

Tell me more about the multiplayer game.
Message TEA & A with the game you’d like to compete in, as well as the number of players you require and if you already have people willing to be your teammates and/or competitors. If you don’t have enough players, you’ll be posted in our soon-to-exist newspaper “Arts and Sports” under the ‘looking for players’ section. If you do have enough players, a referee will watch the game to witness who wins. The winner(s) then get a shout-out in the newspaper.

What if you or any of the referees don’t own/can’t download/can’t watch the game we want to compete in?
Do the exact same thing you would for a high score game, ie; record it!

HELP! My country has blocked Youtube! (For high score and referee-less games)
Message TEA & A immediately! If you know of a similar website that your nation-state hasn’t blocked, please send us a link!

Will there be tournaments? (For multiplayer games.)
Maybe. First, we have to see what games people are playing. Then, we’ll have to acquire enough gold to make the tourney worthwhile. I’m hoping that we’ll get enough donations so that a registration fee isn’t mandatory, but if we don’t get enough gold…

----Others

Are you accepting donations?
YES! YES! A MILLION TIMES YES!!! I can assure you that your donated gold won’t be spent on frivolous things. The only thing TEA & A will use gold for is to create the newspaper, to offer it as prize money and (if there‘s enough gold) to pay referees. TEA & A won’t even use the gold to create/buy companies. You can also donate in your nation’s currency, which will either be converted into gold or used as prize money.

How can we trust TEA & A with our money/gold?
Because I want this to succeed. If I steal your money, that means this project will fail and I don’t want it to fail. I want culture! I want people to be competitive! More importantly, I want the political and national boundaries that keep us apart to blur a little bit more. What better way than through art and games? :3

May I be a referee?
Yes. Just send me a message. Keep in mind that I can’t pay you right away, but once the gold starts to come in--either through donations and/or that registration fee--you will be paid. Not enough to quit your job and move to eHawaii, but still.

How often will the newspaper be updated?
At the very latest, Bi-Weekly.. Probably weekly.

You are aware that the Turks invented eFIFA, right?
Yeah. Still.. Not enough sports for me. Plus, I’m an American IRL, so I don’t like futbol by default. (In all fairness, the only sports I like IRL is boxing, ice hockey and skateboarding.)

HELP! My socks are on fire!!!
….

If you have any questions, please message Nathan L. Rothmyer, TEA & A or leave a comment! If you’re interested in this project as much as I am, please vote this article up, shout it out, post it on your message board and tell all your friends.
