Prime Minister XG's 2nd Address to the Nation

Day 1,888, 23:11 Published in Australia Australia by Aus Prime Minister Office

My Fellow Australians,

It has been 15 days now since I was elected by you the people as Prime Minister of Australia. It has still been very hectic, which I am glad about; it means things are being done. There have been a few hiccups since my last communication with you, but nothing we have not been able to weather.

As many of you will be aware, my cabinet lost Ranger Bob for a brief period due to RL issues, but hopefully will be back with us soon, we understand that RL must come first. Also, your Commissioner for the DoD Review Commission has just about finished the Review and will be presenting his findings of that soon as well, again, RL issues have delayed him slightly but we look forward to seeing his recommendations.

I also lost my Chief of Staff who has since joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and surprisingly roboz, a Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs has taken on the role of Chief of Staff, keeping me well up to date with details when I need them. The information is part of the last briefing he gave me, so I have included it here for your information so you to will know what has occurred in each of the portfolios:

Department of Human Services

- We've imported all the entries from the old babyinfo website
- Read through and edited anything from the babyinfo website that is clearly out of place and should not be there
- Customised the look a bit to make it feel a bit more Australian (definitely going to improve it a bit, as long as this clears up quickly)
- Made a list of the articles in the Help and Information subforum, and what we could do with them in relation to the DHS website
- Copied across my original article about gold investments
- Written a rather lengthy article about the different forms of communications in eRepublik, for eAus (http://dhs.auserepublik.com/?p=761)
- Written another article about companies (http://dhs.auserepublik.com/?p=776)
- Written an article about the senate (http://dhs.auserepublik.com/?p=712)

Department of Centrelink

- Restarted Centrelink as an active organization for player support.
- PM'd 60 recently joined eRep players
- Made meaningful contact with 6 new players
- Restarted Centrelink news posting
- Provided supplies to new players and received donations from old.
- Began accounting for Centrelink again and seeking options for its continued funding.
- Trying to keep Welcome news article in news feed.
- Investigated options to improve DHS website

Department of Information

- the department has commenced putting out weekly articles again about what is going on in the Senate and mainly the Cabinet.
- after the Interview of myself in eIndonesia it was throught that our own eAustralian Press Club would be a great idea for interviews and other information as well, which has resulted in the new Australian Media Newspaper due to release its first printed article shortly

Department of Foreign Affairs

- Americas
Although we have a portfolio of only Americas, we have covered other MoFA's during times when they can’t be available, as they do for us also. We started the month by contacting all countries within the America's region, introducing ourselves and sharing Cabinet lists. Roboz was a huge help in this field and I truly appreciate his help.

Since the start of term we have been faced with a few challenges, and we have done our best to advise the CP, and gain the best result, which is what MoFA comes down to basically.

Currently we have been concentrating on speaking with our allies and friends, in regard to the Indo-WA situation, and keep everyone up to date, and rally support where possible. We have also been speaking with Indo when regional MoFA is not online, to try and secure the best deal with eAus as we can, and this is a true MoFA team effort.

- Euro
Greetings and our cabinet list have been sent to all European countries. Almost all of the euro countries replied to the messages. We are keeping good relations with those that replied and are in constant talks on how we can work together and help each other in the future.

- Regional
One fortunate issue was the offer to do an interview for eIndonesia by an eIndonesian reporter. It was a magnificent experience and very well handled. It also arrived at the best time for us so that we could explain our position regarding WA to the eIndonesian people personally, and was relatively well received. You can find it here if you missed it: XG Interview

As many of you are probably aware by now, Argentina has been RWing our regions that are supposed to be held by Chile under the Treaty. This was an issue after Tasmania, but Chile and CoT are aware of what is going on and we have not been held accountable for that loss.

There are discussions occurring at the present moment about what should be done. The best plan at the moment seems to be for Chile to return Victoria, hopefully to shift their capital back to the Chilean mainland, although these things need to be discussed.

There are currently 2 issues that the Cabinet is working to have resolved as quickly as possible, 1 in particular involves the $200,000 AUD given to Brazil. Brazil has had it stored in a safe Organisation and as yet it has not been returned. The Cabinet is trying to ensure this is returned to us as soon as possible.
Another issue that has arisen is that the eIndonesian CP seems frozen on exactly what to do regarding WA and has decided to hold a referendum on the subject to ensure he follows the peoples wishes. The issue with this is that it is taking so long for a decision to be made and that in itself has made it hard for us to get any more MPPs until that issue is resolved. We are still trying to get the eIndonesian Government to make a decision so we can either move forward or if it must, move to war.

Department of Finance

- The Cabinet budget was submitted on the 10th and was discussed by Senate and the put to a vote. The Budget proposal was carried 5 votes in favour, o against and was thus approved.

Comments on the Economy

During the bot buying period excess production was absorbed but in the process Plato injected huge quantities of currency into the economy - mainly held by country treasuries. In the absence of the bot both individual wage income and country tax incomes have been hit hard and countries are drawing down on their reserves.

Both the Australian and world economies are now in sharp price deflation. This is affecting all raws/food/weapons as well as wages. Because the rate of deflation is quite rapid, it is causing some consternation particularly as wages tumble every few days even though everything is cheaper to buy. The flow on is that government tax take is also declining quickly.

Tax for the first 9 days was 9,770 AUS (1,085/day) so even now it’s apparent we will struggle to achieve budget unless Plato intervenes soon.

DoD Review Commission

- Contact has been made with all the interested stakeholders. Discussions are underway in relation to the role of the ADF in Australia and also the means of allocation funding between Australian MUs. Discussion has been long and hard, and we should have a report within the next few days regarding the best option for Australia to move militarily.

Personal Note in Closing.

One of the biggest issues we have had for some time is that there has never been one location for all information, both for new and old players alike. This is slowly changing with the new National Library of Australia quickly coming together and containing various information, for both new and old alike and covering a lot of topics. With any luck it should continue to grow and accumulate historical information that can be looked back at as time goes by, provided successive Governments continue have a Department of Human Services / Information Cabinet member to look after it and keep the information flowing.

Another thing that people will see slowly building as it increases is the in game Library at the bottom of Government Org newspapers, directly all players to the Newspapers and other areas so people know where they can go for information they may be looking for.

Important news I assure you will be sent out separately and as soon as we have it.

Regards

Xavier Grifith
eAustralian Prime Minister
