PQ's Weekly Congressional Report #2

Well, it' now just about 10 days into my first congressional term, so it's time for another update.

My proudest achievement so far has had nothing to do with Congress per se. Rather, at long last I've finally convinced a couple of r/l friends to check out eRepublik. Yay! So I'm helping to mentor them through that nasty first two weeks of the game.

In the spirit of not only promoting a"baby boom", but helping babies grow into active players, I'll once again start out by listing resources for young players...

Awesome Assistance for Young Citizens of the eUSA

The Welcoming Committee thread on the eUSA forum has good info on getting started on eRepublik. There are helpful guides and it is also a place where you can ask questions. I'd also like to take this opportunity to shout out a huge THANKS, DUDES! to the Welcoming Committee for their awesome work in supporting the recent "Arm the People" weapons hand-out.

Check out the nascent eUS Citizens InfoHub, especially the sections on Helpful Organizations and Helpful Resources.

Shameless Plugs for Some of My Favorite Folks

Most of the US political parties also have programs to help newer players, provide mentoring assistance, explain basic game mechanics and so on.

My homies over at the SFP sponsor the awesome Young Socialist program, which is directed by that absolutely awesome camarada who is quickly becoming a favorite of many around the e-halls of Congress, Rainy Sunday.

Those awesome folks at the Federalist Party have a whole section of eRepublik Tutorials as part of the Federalist Party Academy.

Many eRep newspapers publish excellent (OK... awesome) guides to various aspects of the game from time to time. A couple that are very much worth checking out include:

* Michael IIII's How to Fight Efficiently
* Jack Flufferton's Media Mogul 101 and
* Aeros' How to play eRepublik: An Introduction for the new citizen.

Congressional Voting Record

My votes since the last Report have been as follows..

* Joining EDEN: Voted YES (measure passed)

* Six donations to the Congressional Budget Office: Vote YES on all of them (all passed)
** The CBO is how Congress funds the federal budget.

* Alliances with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Australia and Finlan😛 Voted YES on all of them (all passed)

* Committee streamling: Vote YES (measure passed)

* Alliance with India: Voted YES (measure was voted down)
** This last one probably needs a little bit of explanation. India is a country based on principles of Respect. As a great fan and supporter of e-India, when I saw this MPP request pop up, my immediate reaction was to support it. I was a bit quick on the trigger-finger, as it were. Somewhat to my chagrin, I soon saw that President Frost had asked Congress to vote it down at this time. It's not that the US doesn't support Indian independence -- it certainly does. The problem, according to the White House, was the manner in which the proposal was advanced. The fact that almost half of Congress voted YES on this one made me feel a little bit better.

Senatorial Schmooze

Serendipitous was elected Speaker of the House and Congressional committees have been streamlined. I'm a member of the Domestic/Internal Committee, which has just elected the always-awesome Jude Connors as its Chair.

And to my official constituents in the wasteland of North Dakota, I strongly urge you to re-locate to Florida or California so you can use a Q5 hospital after fighting. If you need help moving, contact the Flying Unicorn Squad right away.
