PP elections in October – The winds of change

15 Day 696, 00:42 Australia

A report on the Party Presidential elections of October 2009

It's Day 696 in the eRepublik, polls have just closed and the official results of the Party Presidential elections will be available soon.

The PP elections in October brought a vast amount of changes regarding the leadership of Top 5 eAussie parties with none of the Party Presidents in power seeking re-election. Patti11 (ADSP), Newt Gingrich (ANP), H.Nelson (AI) and corny-ratbag (TBP) all deciding on not to run for re-election for various reasons. And the winds of change kept blowing with a new party reaching the Top 5; the Australian eLabor.

Let's take a closer look at this month's results with our usual statistical aspect!

First here's the latest data on the membership figures of each Top 5 party as it stood at the beginning of Day 696.

<a name="anc1"></a>ADSP

Xavier Darkmyre took 72 votes out of the total number of 122 votes resulting in a convincing win over AjdAu (33 votes).
John Dong and Conor Serong took 10 and 7 votes respectively doing quite well despite being virtually unknown to the wider public.

<a name="anc2"></a>ANP

Here we have the PP elections with possibly the most controversy regarding the heated circumstances. A comfortable win by Sir_c0nstant though (54 votes out of 92) on runner-up Barnabas Stinson (34 votes), with erkans23 taking third place (3 votes) and Tomy42 taking fourth place (1 vote).

<a name="anc3"></a>AI

We have the highest number of candidates (5 persons) running for PP at the Australian Independents this month. A comfortable triumph by Aussie Vegeta (36 votes out of 82) on Okanius (19 votes) with CookieAU, Listhp Tomptos and KORO781 coming 3rd, 4th and 5th.

<a name="anc4"></a>TBP

An easy triumph here with TheBlackAdder taking all the 44 votes cast having no challenger this time.

<a name="anc5"></a>AeL

AeL is a party recently reaching the Top 5 status. We have also the triumph with the largest margin of them all at the AeL with Paul Hamon taking 48 votes from the total number of 49 votes cast.

As for the rest of the parties, here is a summary of the Party Presidents elected and the distribution of votes:

ACP: Garven Dreis (23 votes, 82%)
AMP: zaney (30 votes, 100%)
MBP: Johnny Citizen (18 votes, 75%)
NPP: Brian O'Donnel(5 votes, 100%)
TP: thirdperson23 (9 votes, 75%)

It's also interesting to see the turnout rate at each Top5 party, an indicator for the level of their members' activity and maybe an important potential when it comes to Senate elections.

We can clearly see that the level of activity at the smallest Top 5 party (AeL) is significantly better than at the larger ones. The AeL seems to be the most active party right now with 63% of party members casting their ballots. This can be due to their recent success of reaching Top 5; something the newly elected PP have to work a lot to preserve. Independent voters have shown a better-than-average activity again, which is more and more characteristic of them recently.
