Possible changes to the economy
nathaner
In today's article i will discuss possible changes Plato could make to improve the economy ( any constructive criticism would be appreciated )
Work as manager
I think WAM should be changed so that people can only work in there own companies between 10-20 times . This is because if it was completely removed it would be impossible to produce enough Raw Materials to build Q7's but it is ridiculous that some people can easily work in a 100 + companies . I think this would create a smaller supply of Q7's and force people to use lower quality weapons and increase the profitability of lower quality factories .
Moving tickets
They should make it possible to make moving tickets again so that money isn't pulled out of the economy every time somebody wants to move region . This will also add a third product that could diversify the market and provide more opportunities for enterprise .
Defence system's
It would be interesting economically and strategically to bring back a version of the defence system . Economically because it would add yet another market to get involved in . Strategically because it would lead to easier defence of regions so that stronger nations would have to work to win battles .
Finally , I know its not really an economic change but i think they should change declare war so that the war doesn't end until the aggressor's congress decides to end it . For example ; UK declares war on Ireland and wipes them , then Ireland RW a region free but the UK can instantly attack again because the war never ended . This would be expensive but not entirely useless as it is now .

pretty much

Just tell that old man's game as the economy existed before. In a way comprato his vision, more products means more business and more money movement. Ideas can be many, the big question is whether "Plato" is interested in modifying the Economic Module. -

we need money to leave the economy, part of the problem today is that too much money is created out of nothing whereas before governments had control over currency issuing so the moving tickets idea is stupid.
If defence systems were brought back it wouldn't change the economy much as governments used to make their own, it would only change government spending.
Changing wam would be the most interesting idea as wam is responsible for the voerproduction we currently have.
I like some of the ideas but it does strike me that whilst the introduction of new uses for wrm would provide some relief but as soon as it became profitable more wrm producers would crop up and force the prices back down.
The limit for companies worked would be the best approach to my mind at least for the new players and would make companies more profitable, the volatility would be huge though and would create more anger than the broken economy I would wager.
The cynic inside me would perhaps question erepubliks incentive to bring this about, as it stands to reach the position where players can sustain themselves they must spend a large sum of gold ( purchasing or inviting both meet erepubliks needs) and to resurrect the economy the company would be harming its revenue streams. In addition to this point I remember reading that any economic changes would not be a fix but an intermediate or stop gap solution. For the record I don't take issue with erepublik making money more an assessment than a critique.
For the record I rather liked v1 economy the usefulness of the production skill and locale of resources I always felt had more depth than the current system.
I think that most of these ideas are good ones...I believe that erepublik should focus on quality of wares rather than mass production so that newer players have more of a chance and so that the larger companies cant rule the market.
a quality scale on products might also open new job opportunities which compliment other businesses such as high quality raw product producing companies (it would increase the quality of food created with it)
