I am running to represent Louisiana in congress for several reasons, not the least of which is that I will take the position seriously. You won't hear about James Pfeiffer making joke proposals, like raising the minimum wage to $1000.
I tend to favor lower taxes, but believe that we should have moderate to high import taxes on natural resources which we have domestically. Many of our allies do, allowing their country, and citizenry, to profit, while our companies are bearing extra costs. This will allow us to lower taxes in other areas, and encourage people to buy from local companies, when possible.
I don't believe we should keep spending money on securing regions abroad, but rather on building up our national defense. While it would be incredibly costly to put Q5 Hospitals in every state, we could move away from having two regions with Q5, while everyone else sits at Q1. I have had to move back and forth between Louisiana and New Jersey to fight in battles, but if we had Q3 hospital, I would probably have stayed home.
On the international front, I won't presume to understand everything about the PEACE and ATLANTIS stuff, and will seek the counsel of those better informed on any and all actions put before congress that will influence our relations with these two organizations. The imperialistic tendencies of some nations might make life more difficult for our allies, but first and foremost, we need to recognize that our job is to secure a better future for the eUSA.
I also believe that War Games are our best bet, as far as armed conflicts go. Our loss in Russia wasn't terrible, but until our average strength is higher, and we can more effectively organize our strikes on foreign soil, we shouldn't be invading other countries, thus activating their MPPs.
Additionally, I will, after every 5 congressional votes, publish my vote, and my reasoning, here, in The Court Circular. It is my intention to allow the people of Louisiana to know everything I do in my official capacity as their representative.

I have a couple questions for you.
1) If we raise import taxes, fewer nations will be selling to us and purchasing import licenses (of which the profits do not come to us in the first place). With a decrease in that activity, that would then, naturally, imply a decrease in the revenue received from those taxes. How would that then allow us to lower taxes elsewhere?
2) Are you aware that Congress has a standing order that no Hospital or DS below Q4 is to be purchased by the US Government?
3) Do you realize that average strength really reflects nothing? The eUS has the most number of citizens. The reason we are consistently the largest nation is because we have so many new people join every day at strength level 0. They cannot fight. They do not help except in raising the wall via their simple presence in a region. If we constantly have people with no strength joining the country, how are we supposed to raise the average strength when that is measured solely by the strength and not battle experience?

1. I only want to raise taxes on natural resources we have domestically. I believe it will encourage people to buy domestic. It's about putting money into the hands of our citizens first. I don't want prohibitive import taxes, but it's worth it to lose a few importers, if the overall revenue for the country goes up. Higher import tax revenue would allow for lower income taxes, meaning higher salaries.
2. Congress is born anew after each election. There is no reason why we have to agree with the choices of our predecessors. I don't see a problem with buying lower level hospitals. If you don't agree that's fine. Sure it might cost more in the long run, but it would allow us to slowly build an infrastructure.
3. Average strength reflects our average strength. I understand that we have new members joining every day, adding more 0s and 1s to the total. Sending a series of tanks didn't work in Russia. Wars of aggression might just require overwhelming numbers. I would rather 100 guys fighting at strength levels between 5 and 7, than 10 guys at level 11.
1. To actually pick up what we'd lose in lowering the income taxes, by your plan that is, the VAT taxes would need to sky rocket. The income tax is the fairest and most equal way of getting the money we need without seeming partial towards one group. Although isolationist policies tend to be favored in a country taking a neutral position in an international war, I would bet that many manufacturing companies would be more than happy to take your head off for you. The general idea is that the greater the competition on our own markets, the fairer the prices and the more a manufacturing GM can buy. No matter where he buys from (international or intranational) the government still gets the money needed via either source.
I also understand that you meant only RM that we have high regions of. But that doesn't change the fact that the foreign competition also weeds out the inexperienced GMs - whose companies would die out anyway - sooner.
2. Yes Congress is born a new, but only 1/3 of it every election is lost. As per buying lower than Q4, the numbers were crunched and it is the most cost effective decision to only buy Q4 and 5 hospitals or defensive systems, especially with the government subsidizing the purchases of RM for these companies.
3. I understand your hyperbole, but it is exactly that. If you want to see us do maximum damage, as a Congress person you can fight for more weapons to be given to our soldiers (of all strength levels) at every REAL battle. As a CO of 4th Platoon, 3rd Division (Army Rangers) we were not given weapons for FER. Yeah my bare handed fighting is about 50 per fight at 100 wellness, which is pretty good if I may say so myself, but regardless of marines or not, with a Q1 I easily do over 100. Sure Q5's are wonderful and everything but weapons in general need to be supplied. Do you support supplying our troops?
I think that any time we make an offensive move, it should only be after we have ensured that our soldiers have the weapons they need to get the job done.
Way to ignore the two points that came before that.
So I see a great approach to challenges coming to congress if you are elected James. Dodge questions and if someone calls you out on it, ignore them.

RL has taken a lot of my time the past couple of days. A friend of mine is in the state legislature, and I was helping him with some research. I wasn't 'dodging' you.
I'm not gonna debate things here, if I'm elected I might one day make a proposal along the lines of what I've stated here, but I have no plans to make any substantive proposals during my first term. I openly admit that I'm relatively new, but I'm a quick study, and I'm a hard worker.
That's all I was looking for James.
