Party Presidents Unite over NAP
Hey Australia,
I address you all today, as the Party President of ERA, and as the representative of the top 7 parties in Australia (ADSP/Rebel Alliance, PaPP, ANP, AI, TBP, ACP and ERA) to show support for Cerri, in regards to the signing of the Non Aggression Pact with Indonesia.
After discussions with Cerri, the Party Presidents have unanimously agreed that the NAP as negotiated is in the best interests of our nation. As you know I have expressed many concerns regarding this, but they have since been addressed. I would encourage those who have concerns to read the NAP and discussion threads in our forum and approach Cerri or myself if you have any other questions.
Why the Flip
I'm sure many of you are puzzled at the fact that it was only a week ago when I denounced the NAP, as poor for Australia's long term future. I am man enough to admit however, that my previous interpretation of the contract was pretty misguided, and here is why.
When looking at the contract from a critical view, there is really nothing that is unfair to Australia. Australia cannot attack Indonesia and Indonesia cannot attack Australia. There is no penalty if we are unable to purchase the companies in Western Australia so if our economy or population cannot sustain them, the companies can be acquired at a later date. However most importantly, the NAP does not tie us down to Indonesia, it gives us the freedom to do whatever we wish on the world stage, whether that be working with Indonesia or otherwise.
Why the joint statement
There has been a lot of negative press in the last week regarding the NAP. This is of course fine to express your opinion in regards to the NAP, but we have felt that some of the discussion has turned into something less than civilised. Now we are not asking you to follow the Cerri blindly and respect her and the senate's decision 100%, but it has been made and all of us 7 PPs do support it. Again, this is not saying you are not allowed to show dissent to the decision, but just a reminder that we are all working towards a common goal of bettering Australia, although the paths many of us want to take a different.
Lastly, all of us are in agreement with the NAP as we recognise the need for mutual respect between two neighbouring countries.
We congratulate Cerri and Wonder Forward in signing the NAP,

Thank you Patti11 I appreciate your article.
You are most respected in our community.
C'est la vie.
I would've liked to have seen a bolder more defiant eAustralia, but then I do not live there.
At least your country is whole now, and I'm glad I had the chance to fight in WA... that early morning.
Yay patti11
good stuff
Thank you, Patti.
Pattimaxxx!
Sorry in advance for the wall of text....
I tried consulting with a couple of the people involved in the discussions in CrowdedHouse's articles to have my own concerns allayed.
While I wasn't convinced of the wisdom of the NAP long term, I was very much convinced of the different perspectives involved, and found a level of respect for the people involved in the process that I know I didn't have when I first heard about the NAP.
And at least ONE of the three major concerns I had have been addressed - that being our ability to protect our allies as per our treaty obligations. I'm yet to be convinced about concern number two which was any economic or political consequences for not being able to pay for the companies, and concern number three regarding a perceived appeasement is irreconciliable but at least I can respect where the eIndonesian point of view is on that, and I had a good chat with Wonder Forward on it.
Time will tell if the decision was the right one for eAustralia, but at least some foriegn policy direction was taken - a decision was made. I'm sure if a PP went to this election with a "scrap the NAP" platform in big fluro pink letters the people would either shun that PP or vote for that PP in droves. Or alternatively the PPs involved would be deserted en masse by their parties.
I don't see any wholesale rioting occurring to either of those hypotheticals... it would seem the people of eAustralia either have spoken, or will do so in the immediate future.
Regardless, a show of solidarity given the divisive politics of late is a good sign. Voting this Article Up for Great Justice.
Thanks Patti11 (and all the PPs) for showing the parties of eAus CAN work together for the betterment of our nation! Hoping to see more of this kind of collaboration in the future!
My fears for the economy have been reasonably allayed, my other miss givings have not. I respect that the politicians of this country are doing what they feel is in our best interest.
I don't agree with them... I have previously stated why, and I will exercise my democratic right in that respect.
voted
Voted, and full support from me.
Admirable!
Sweetness
god damn it i wrote a long and eloquent comment and the stupid game logged me out ffs.
Anyway to summarise what i wanted to write
1. I don't like this deal it stops us blocking indonesia whenever we want to. Which is vital in support of our allies.
2. Our policy to indonesia should be to isolate them till they understand we don't take their shit.
3. Why are we neglecting America and Eden when they are the people who got WA back not Indonesia.
4. Generally stuff Indonesia they don't deserve our time.
Umaster, ill try to answer your questions
1. Yes, that is a downside
2 and 4. Unfortunately, its doesn't work like that. We are next to them and will are neighbours, the least we can show is mutual respect.
3. There is nothing in the contract that prevents has from allying and helping America, Canada and EDEN
a)I very much doubt the 7 PP's accurately reflect the positions of the entire parties they represent.
b) “There is no penalty if we are unable to purchase the companies in Western Australia so if our economy or population cannot sustain them; the companies can be acquired at a later date”
We should we need to buy any companies at all?
If there is no penalty then why have the statement if it does not intend to be enforced?
It's good to see you all kissed and made up that's great honestly I mean it but it still doesn't make up for the fact that we bent over and copped it up the butt off eIndo yet again.
Rational heads prevail.
i agree with alex and umaster, why do we even have to buy these companys, who cares about indo. if theres no penalty then lets not do it.
at last a sense of peace in the politics of Australia.
Good article however i agree with ALEX AUSTRALIS in the fact that it probably doesnt reflect everyones true feelings. Did the partys consulte there members and come to an agreement that way or did the leaders just decide it all??
Yep, eAustralia is not the place for me.
I will keep my citizenship in the hopes I will return when you decide to stand up for yourselves. Until then have a nice elife guys.
Nice to read the comments and see who has actually read the contract- If you are going to speak up, at least educate youself first.
@AA- I am happy to discuss that with you
WHAT ABOUT THE NORSEFIRE PARTY I WANT TO HEAR FROM THEM!!!!!!
Hate to tell you, but must, Rakkeyal as the PP of AI has no voice or power in this respect. No vote was taken by the AI membership and therefore the PP of the AI can not speak or accept anything.
This is nonsense. Tell me, patti, with how many silver coins were you bought?
Well, doesn't matter. That joke of a treaty will never become legal. If the next, hopefully sane, President and Congress won't feel like honoring it, then nothing happens. You-cannot-make-the-contract-valid.
I spent some time to think this over and the only up side i can think of is that in 5 months we will have a new economic and war module to deal with. I guess that gives us, and unfortunately Indonesia, time to settle in.
In light of our Sol brothers refusing to launch an attack on the Indonesian home islands, I must agree that the NAP is in the best interests of our country claiming not to be cowards. I wouldn't say that attacking Indonesia is not in our best interests. In the long run, I think it will be. But if we attack, we would be alone in that. That would make attacking eIndonesia about as stupid as the eU.K. attacking the eUSA. Oops, they did that. Let us not be Failmaxxxx like the eU.K.
Regarding the requirement to buy eIndonesian companies located in WA, my listing of the RM Companies of eAustralia ( http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/aust[..]ments ) demonstrates that this is not only not sustainable with all the companies trying to compete in our economy, those companies are also a big rip off! They're priced too high for the quality level. They're charging for an export license to eIndonesia that is totally useless. And a lot of them don't even have a license to sell on the eAustralian market. I would only recommend buying one of these companies if you have too much Gold and you would like to help an eIndonesian citizen to go tank some innocent country. It must also be noted that many eIndonesian citizens have abandoned Indonesia to join up with eHungary or eSerbia. So many companies that I have tracked back to Hungarian or Serbian ownership actually belong to an ex-Indonesian. I wonder if those companies are included in the conditions of the NAP?
pattimax? lol Pattilicious
