An ideal government, open and free, anyone can take power, as long as they prove they can do the job, rather than the most powerful players filling all the slots. Its policies should be malleable by the consent of the many, rather than the whim of an individual, and corruption should be punished, cut out entirely, but not un-redeemable(Those who are corrupt should be given a second chance, but only the one), Foreign relations should be clear and clean, a diamond of friendship, and our military might should be coordinated and precise.
This is, however, not the case.
Due to a number of reasons, personal greed coming to mind(Since I myself am very greedy), corruption is rife in the current political system, with those with the most money or most followers leading the tide, with those with the most experience/skill serving as advisors, and all others rarely used as more than vote cows, subject to the laws that their leaders made, but often don't follow themselves.
You may think that this adds a fun, competitive element to the game but I doubt that our neighbors look upon our squabbles and think "Oh, that country is good", our allies see a country barely held together by the effort of individuals instead of the majority, who believe that they are heading towards political gain(Or a better country) but are instead just carrying the same old on the tide of the new and youthful, and as the tide loses momentum(Interest) and some of the water goes away(Citizens leaving) the same old just run back around to catch the next wave, instead of trying to keep the first one moving.
A lot has been done recently to root out corruption and keep the momentum going, but the progress is slow.
That is why I made this article, those of you with experience should already know most of this, but for those of you who are reading this, and are moved by it, I give you a message.
Join whatever party you want, whatever mu, social or moral movements you believe in, but whatever you do, carry the message of equality with you.
For I believe that we can keep on going, that progress can be made, that the country can change, that the old can accept the new.
I believe that a difference can be made.
I believe that Britain can become Great Britain again.
