Once in a Generation

I don’t do this. I really don’t. Or at least, I haven’t. Not for a very long time. Not since the days I was a blind party scribe, pushing the candidacy of Morrigan Alexandros. If you even know who that is, congratulations, you’re old AF.

I don’t believe that the endorsement article holds much weight. For the most part, I feel like people and parties will vote for whomever they want, articles be damned. If you’re active enough to be involved in a primary, you’re probably active enough to pick your own Presidential candidate. There are other things that have far more influence than the endorsement article.

But yet… here I am. A few fingers of gin starting their warm glow through my extremities.
I honestly thought that I was done with these sorts of articles. Most of my friends have the Country President medal (gratz Mel). Most of the people that deserve it, either got it or died trying. No middle ground for them.

And then there’s Yui.

In sports, there is something called Generational Talent. People that come along once in a generation and are the best at what they do. Think Lebron James, Wayne Gretzky, Mike Trout, Tom Brady, Pedro Martinez, Peyton Manning, Sidney Crosby, Michael Jordan.
The absolute greatests of their time.

Yui is one of them.

Yui was my NSC Chairman a few months ago. I didn’t have a particularly high opinion of him when I was campaigning. He was someone that had done the job, and seemed to enjoy it. More importantly, he was someone that wanted the job. Which in my experience, is half the battle.
There were people out there that rolled their eyes, or tried to get me to switch my pick. They were somewhat successful, in that I pursued various other options as Co-NSC. Turns out that those people weren’t available.

Turns out, I never needed them in the first place.

I had Yui. And that was all that I needed.
He was a fantastic NSC Chair for me. Being all the things that a NSC Chair from the days of yesteryear should be; equal parts Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense and master strategist.

There weren’t a lot of battles in my term. At least not ones where Yui could prove his worth. But he was always available, and when I needed him the most, not only was he there for me, but he came through in the biggest way possible.

In a lot of ways, he was Vanek. Not in all ways, of course. But his ability to blend strategy with diplomacy meant that he was more than someone just watching battles. He was leading them.

And he was willing to fight for what he believed in. We didn’t always agree. In fact, we had a few heated arguments. But that backbone earned him my respect, and his instincts for battles earned him my gratitude.

What Yui has done during the Resource Wars competition is nothing short of extraordinary. He deserves every line of praise that is being piled on him. He has grown from someone that many viewed as not worthy of holding the NSC Chair position, to someone that has come to define what it means to be the NSC Chair. Yui will be held up as the standard for excellence in NSC Chairmanship for the next 12 months, if not longer.

Many years ago, Vanek essentially created the NSC position. It was formed out of his own ability to watch battles, direct damage, and accurately predict what would happen. Four years later, Yui is recreating it.

And he deserves to be President.

He is someone that has shown an ability to grow. To be serious when he needs to be, and jovial at all other times. He can move seamlessly from policy to strategy to posting like Tenshibo. He can hold command over a room like the CJCS of old.
[JimmyCincinnati[D2]] Can someone update priorities?
[Yui1] prio's are listen to me

He is active now. He is involved now. He is asking to be your President now. Not in a few months when the politics are better, but right now. After the most difficult month of not only his time, but arguably any time.

Many years ago, we made Vanek wait to be President. He wasn’t political enough. He wasn’t willing to do the political things necessary to become President. He had put in his time, and had a better resume than most, but the position would elude him for another 12+ months.

Let’s not make the same mistake again.

Yui for President

We won’t get a better candidate, nor a better time.
