Old Bird Runs for Congress, Kiwis Rejoice

PQ for Congress from Otago

Phoenix Quinn: tilting at windmills since Day 581.

My main election promise is this: If you elect me to Congress, I will show up.

I've been in two Congresses before, once in the US and once in the Czech Republic. In both cases I served the entire term and participated in all votes.

For what it's worth, here are my views on various programmatic issues:

* Left-of-center pragmatist on economic questions. Grand theories usually don't produce results as well as finding the right balance to meet the immediate situation. When in doubt, go for the solution that will benefit the most players.

* Supporter of armed neutrality on foreign policy. National defense is the top priority, followed by finding battles citizens can participate in.

* Happy-go-lucky internationalist on social questions. I have friends from all over the world and enjoy the diversity of the NZ population quite a lot. I have a hard time getting psyched about EDEN vs. Phoenix stuff. I find that there's usually a good bit to learn from the experiences and perspectives of people from different national backgrounds.

* Dispassionate towards gaming questions. eRep Labs is pretty much gonna do whatever they want to do, whether I like it or not.

* Supporter of a lively and diverse media. NZ has quite a few great writers, many of whom have connections and subscribers from around the world. Would be cool to take advantage of this and promote Kiwi media as the "light of the New World" or some such.

Well, that's it.

Oh, right. I am currently a member of the Kiwi People's Party and, as far as I know, the only player in the history of the New Woirld to have successfully transitioned from being an ostrich to being an e-human, as explained in Part One of my auto-biography: Portrait of the Citizen as a Young Ostrich.

Cheers and best wishes to all,
P. Quinn
