Oh Canada

I realize people are probably getting pretty tired of hearing opinions about US-Canadians relations, but as its something that I have as of yet not had the time to write about, but interests me greatly, so I figured I would jot down my thoughts. Why does it interest me greatly? It all dates back to when I joined this game, October 14th 2009. At the time we were in the closing stages of World War III, the United States had been invaded by a high number of enemy nations at once, but had slowly been kicking them out over time. Yet one remained, Hungary. They still held several colonies in North America, among them were Washington(the state) and the Canadian regions of Saskatchewan(wow, I spelled that right the first try), Nunavut, and Manitoba. Due to the shared experience of being occupied the same enemies and helping each other to free our regions we grew quite close, eventually creating a bond so strong that we became known as the brolliance. Having been eborn during this time the brolliance was something that what was quite important to me, in fact it was one of the first things I ever wrote about in this paper.

In that article I mentioned the fact that the brolliance was dead, and that it was too bad, unfortunately as recent events have made clear the brolliance is far past dead now. It is dead, buried, and decomposed beyond recognition. I want to state now that I believe BOTH sides hold some share of the responsibility for the demise of US-Canadian relations. The "elites" of the Unites States don't like Canada, quite frankly they actually can't stand those snow worshiping heathens. Regularly having the upper echelons of our government controlled by people that do not like your country isn't going to be conducive to good relations. However as Kemal pointed out in a recent article when you have a stronger nation directly bordering you, whether you like them or not it is best to try an maintain reasonable relations. Despite what many Canadians would claim YOU CAN BE REASONABLE without bending over. Kemal uses Cyprus as an example allow me to use the a different country, the United States.

The United States is currently in Sirius with numerous nations that it was once at war with(quite recently actually), the United Kingdom, Poland, and Spain. Despite this, through the level headed diplomatic efforts on both sides we are now in an alliance together, working together, fighting together, and having fun together. Contrary(damn I was totally trying to think of this word for earlier in the article, but now I can't remember where I wanted to put it) to the United States efforts with the UK, Poland, and Spain, Canada has oscillated between halfhearted attempts to play nice, and being outright antagonistic. Lets look at some examples of Canadian behavior that helped push the US away.

1. Classified and sensitive logs pertaining to United States foreign policy were leaked by Canada in a deliberate attempt to weaken our foreign affairs. To put it bluntly Canada f**ked our foreign relations in the a$$ and flushed a lot of hard work down the drain.

2. Canada got itself wiped by Spain, then d***ed around for 8 months instead of joining CoT. Then they joined CoT at the end once it was already a sinking ship and tried to leverage that too little too late decision into a position in the pro-sirius bloc. They then got quite angry when no one really cared. I find it funny that they got themselves wiped in the course of trying to be a "good" ally. Note to Canada, you are of no help to your allies when you are wiped and have to spend most of your efforts trying to liberate your own regions.

3. As derphoof has pointed out Canada is a loose cannon. They only seem to think there are two options in this game, do nothing(while tearing yourself apart domestically), or attack a foe much larger than yourself without proper planning and risk getting wiped.

4. They consistently elect leadership that is just as antagonistic towards the United States as some of our leadership is towards them. They have elected this guy five times. Nuff said.

5. They really enjoy trolling us. There have been quite a few articles of the same nature by Canadians recently, fair enough I enjoy some good trolling. However this goes back to the issue of trying to maintain level headed discussions, which based off their media, they don't seem too keen on doing.

Canada is a far worse enemy of Canada than we could ever hope to be.
