Gaius Julius’ Presidency

Today is President Gaius Julius’ last day in office. He was elected this past term by a large margin after taking former President Emerick’s place when Emerick resigned 2 months ago. During Gaius’ term as president, eUSA regained all of its states back and cemented our relationship with Canada, with Canada keeping Alaska to block Russia from invading North America. During his term, Hungary had been pushed out of North America and both Canada and USA have regained all of its territories along with Australia, who we’ve built stronger relationships with. We’ve reached out to the world and shown them that eUSA can be a great ally as we’ve grown to understand how important our connection with the rest of the world is and that no one nation in eRepublik can achieve long-term success without the cooperation of other countries. As Gaius gets ready to leave office, he has paved the way for either Jewitt or Josh Frost to take his place.

War Update

In Scandinavia, our ally Finland is currently in a battle to take back Russian-occupied Eastern Finland as well as a battle to retrieve Latvian-occupied Southern Finland.

In South Africa, a resistance war has started in Indonesian-occupied KwaZulu Natal.

In the Pacific, there is also the training war in Sabah, defending Malaysia from attack by The Philippines.

Due to the rapidly changing nature of battles which may begin at any time, all military personnel are to follow this protocol when deciding where to fight:

Military Only
1. Direct orders given by your CO via PM ECHOs (only orders issued by your chain of command are acceptable). These are the most specific and relate to the particular military unit or platoon you serve in.

2. If no direct orders are given, then follow orders in the military forums according to the specific branch of the military you serve under (Airborne, Army, Home Guard, Marines, MI, etc).

3. If updated orders are not posted, then military personnel are to follow orders posted in the joint military orders section, which is for the military in general and is not specific to individual branches.

4. If updated joint military orders are not posted, then military personnel will follow Civilian Orders.

Civilian Orders
Civilians (citizens not enrolled in the military hierarchy) should subscribe to, vote up and follow the Department of Defense Battle Orders which are updated daily and sometimes multiple times per day.

Presidential Elections

Tomorrow (Day 716) all over eRepublik is Election Day to select our new country leaders. Regardless of what anyone may promise on the campaign trails, the truth is that the President can only propose most of what he/she wants to do and it must be approved by congress. Also, there are only a few things the President can propose. The president does not have the ability to change the tax structure or alter the citizen fees or minimum wage of the country - those are the powers of congress. What the President CAN do is:

1. Propose war or peace with another nation.
2. Propose a mutual protection pact (MPP), the in-game military alliance that allows nations to come to each other’s defense from home. Out of game, the President can also propose formal treaties and alliances.
3. Propose changes to the welcome message that new citizens see when they are “born” in eUSA.
4. Propose trading embargoes.
5. Propose the purchase and placement of infrastructure (hospitals and defense systems).
6. Provide leadership and direction to the country along with influence to help his/her proposals, which must be voted on and approved by congress in order to become “law”.

Another key to the Presidency is their choice of Vice President. Unlike real life, if the President cannot run the government, the Vice President does not automatically take over. In eRepublik, if the President steps down (or gets impeached), then whoever got the next higher number of votes on Election Day would become the new President. So what purpose does the Vice President serve then? The Vice President is most valuable to the President for 1 reason - INFLUENCE. The Vice President can be a liason to congress, the military, the public and/or to other nations to help the President accomplish his/her goals. An influential Vice President helps to create a powerful presidency.

In eUSA, the first primary contender for President this election cycle is the military leader and first eUS 500k Field Marshall, Josh Frost, whose running mate is our current Economic Council Director, Woxan. The second contender also running for President is current Vice President and multi-president advisor and Cabinet member Jewitt, whose running mate is the current Chief of Staff and multi-term Cabinet member PigInZen.

Are you a citizen who is receiving orders about where to fight on your home screen? If not and you use Firefox as a web browser, subscribe to the eUSA Order Broadcast System. These battle orders will be updated several times a day for citizens who are not in the military. Military personnel, however, are to continue to follow the orders issued on the forum and through your chain of command. If you do not have Firefox, you can also see the daily citizen battle orders in the eusforum.
