Scrabman’s 100 Days

Day 486 was when scrabman became President. Today is day 585, marking scrabman’s 100th day of presidency of eUSA. Let’s take time to reflect on where we’ve came from to give perspective on how far we’ve come and where we are going.

We’ll now go back to day 486 and see what our world looked like…

We were part of the ATLANTIS alliance and many of our newer citizens (as well as the many PEACE GC trolls who infiltrated our media) were complaining that eUSA was not sufficiently benefitting from the alliance and was only supporting eRomania’s imperialistic goals. Our former president, Uncle Sam, had broken an ATLANTIS treaty by not notifying our allies before declaring war on a country. Uncle Sam tried to do something for eUSA instead of for eRomania and declared war on eMexico “for the lulz”. Our ATLANTIS allies had voted on the agreed upon penalty of paying 100 gold to each allied nation for breaking this rule. Most of our citizens had no knowledge of this rule and were outraged that our allies would levy such a fine. Uncle Sam agreed to pay it anyway in good faith and this outraged many citizens even more. The ATLANTIS nations repaid the gold back to us, but this was the beginning of many citizens envisioning a different kind of alliance for our nation.

Our former president, Uncle Sam, had just become the first eUS president to be impeached, due to alleged mismanagement of congressionally appropriated funds. Uncle Sam had for the first time promised to bring war games to the public and this had been the precursor to what became known as “Operation Taco Bell” with war declared against Mexico. After a near total military takeover of Mexico under Uncle Sam and a poorly executed strategy, Portugal and the other PEACE GC nations had pushed us all the way back to our border and our diplomatic relationship with Mexico as well as our allies was irrevocably changed for the worse. After this defeat, morale was down in the country.

Except in the beginning days against a militarily inferior Mexico, most of our citizens had not seen any significant military victories in recent memory. Many people were bored and simply “two-clicking” (pressing the “work” and “train” buttons and logging off) for their 5 minutes each day. We were hovering at just under 10,000 in population and were ranked No. 4 in the world in total experience points. Our dollar value was fluctuating up and down and at that time was peaking at around 1 USD = 0.018 gold. As was evident in Operation Taco Bell, our military lacked organization and proper communication and many soldiers would often fight in the wrong battles or on the wrong side of a resistance war.

In summary, when President scrabman first took office, he had come to the helm of a country with low morale, an unstable economy, strained diplomatic relations with countries all over the world including our ATLANTIS allies as well as adversaries in PEACE GC and the general public sentiment of uncertainty about our role in the world and the future of eUSA. That was then. This is what has been put in place since then:

White House Press Secretary

Before President scrabman, the primary communication between the executive branch of the government and the public was the president’s personal newspaper and whatever comments the president would respond to in the media. Uncle Sam began to improve on this by having a vice president, Joe DaSmoe, who was very popular and communicated well with the public. But more had to be done to keep the public informed on a timely basis and as a counter to PEACE GC propaganda that was infiltrating our media.

President scrabman introduced the new Cabinet position of White House Press Secretary and an organization was created to host The Briefing Room for Official White House Press Releases. The first WHPS, Claire Littleton, set the standard for relaying information to the public and subscriptions quickly climbed to over 900 subscribers. She encouraged subscribing and voting up the articles so that they would reach the Top 5 and be seen by all of our citizens and she did a great job in making The Briefing Room one of the most successful government-to-public communication mediums in the history of eUSA. She faithfully served for a full term of scrabman’s presidency before she stepped down.

At that time, one of the fastest growing papers in eUSA, Freedom & Responsibility, was getting good reviews and president scrabman had picked its editor, mjdiv, to fill Claire’s shoes and he has served as the WHPS for the next 2 terms of scrabman’s presidency. Subscriptions climbed to over 1000 and The Briefing Room became the primary source of information our citizens would have regarding potential threats to the country, wars and war games, and the promotion of the various programs and departments of our government.

War Games

While the first “war games” had been started by Uncle Sam, they were the result of a real war that was forced upon another nation and did not benefit the other nation. On the heels of strained diplomatic relations, president scrabman had seen the value of war games and had negotiated with Mexico a peaceful return of their territory of Baja in exchange for gold and a hospital if we could continue to use the territory for eUS war games for another month before returning it. Mexico agreed and war games had commenced, becoming an economic boon with increasing wellness of our citizens, increasing consumption of products to drive our businesses and increasing military rank for everyone and especially to our lower levels to create much higher damage in future combat operations. War games would be held 2 to 3 times every week except during real military operations requiring our citizens to go to battle.

After Baja was returned, peace was declared with Mexico and a front was closed, allowing us to focus on other activities. New war games were started which would involve not only eUSA, but also our allies and president scrabman brought a neutral country, eIreland, to the games and greatly improved the relations between our 2 countries. Now the war games were benefitting eUSA and our allies alike, with the ability to either fight in a war game or in a real war virtually every single day. Many nations wanted a part of these war games and several countries agreed to pay us for their participation in the games, many times offering to pay our half of the 30 gold cost of each of the mutual protection pacts (MPPs) that make participation in the games possible without having to move their citizens out of their countries. This became not only a military success, but a diplomatic one as well. Happy with the games, many people began to do less “2-clicking” and started to become more active citizens.

Along with the war games, our military also started to see much better organization and better communication. Command became more centralized with a new military forum and a structure that was taken from the successful Marines branch of our military and applied to all of the different branches. We also developed specialized units such as Mobile Infantry and Airborne. To combat the organization of PEACE voters who mobilized for political takeovers (PTOs) around the world, the eUS Air Force was created as a branch of the military because a military structure would be needed to quickly mobilize the amounts of voters that would be necessary to prevent PTOs.

Department of Citizen Affairs

To further address the issue of great inactivity among our citizens, the Department of Citizen Affairs was created. Programs existed, but would do no good if our citizens did not know they existed. The DoCA would direct our citizens to the various programs and departments we have to educate and assist our citizens, both old and new, on how to become the most productive, effective, healthy and successful that they can become.

Alliance of the Future

President scrabman had only intended on serving 2 terms. However, with the collapse of ATLANTIS, he decided to run for one last term, having re-established good diplomatic relations with many nations. Utilizing many of the brightest minds in eUSA from all different political parties, ideological beliefs and individual talents, eUSA would be critical to the development of a new alliance. We would be sure not to create a second ATLANTIS, but an alliance with a different purpose. A new alliance that would respect and benefit each alliance member rather than just a “main” member. A new alliance that would go beyond simple military MPPs and would be strengthened by a trade alliance to bond the nations together in common purpose for economic benefit as well as military protection. A new alliance that would be different than the alliances that have failed in the past and would be an example to the world of cooperation among nations for mutual benefit. This is president scrabman’s last term in office and, should this occur while he is in office, this will be the crowning achievement of his legacy.

Just as any president who has served 3 terms would get, president scrabman has found his share of critics. Whether he is the president you like or the president you don’t, when we think of president scrabman, we must look at where we came from, where he has brought us and where we are going. During Operation Taco Bell, the eUS military barely squeaked over 300,000 damage to a wall and we were happy about that. In our most recent battles, we’ve been able to do nearly triple that amount in 3 months’ time. Without a doubt, our nation has become stronger, both militarily and economically. We have regained respect among allies and adversaries and are ready to finally make our mark on the world. Congratulations, President scrabman, on your 100th day in office.
