Official PUP Communiqué: party presidency candidate Q & A

8 Day 449, 18:39 Thailand
We currently have two candidates for the Pattana Unity Party presidency, Albert Neurath and Gentyle. They have requested someone host a "townhall debate" where any curious party members could pick their brains. As current party president, I shall oblige them in this respect.

So, without further ado, have at ye!

(For the record, I favor neither candidate, both because I'm impartial like that, and because both seem perfectly competent (the job's not that hard; pretty much the only requirement is being able to do some organization and seek consensus for candidate nominations). Above all, both have that most critical of prerequisites: they're willing suc-, erm, eager volunteers who are Not Me.

Id be more than happy with either one. A friendly debate would be nice as long as we emphasize friendly as we're all on the same team.

Yes of course Friendly was what I had in mind. This is just sort of a way for people to get to know us. I'm thinking we don't even direct anything towards each other. Just answer questions.

I agree with Gentyle. This represents a golden opportunity for the people of Thailand and the PUP to get to know one of their new top party leaders.

Why do you want to be party president? (for both, please answer succinctly but substantively)

What is your strategy in enlarging our congressional positions, party membership, and of course in the bigger scheme of things, thailand population?

Thank you for your question Mew Tong.

I desire to be PUP President because of what I have received from this party and Country. I want to give back by using my time and what I have learned from my colleagues here to continue the good work this party and it's former manifestations have done.

My plan as leader of the party would be to ensure that we maintain an active base as well as recruit new members into the fold. This will be done through providing interactivity and open government allowing for citizens of all kinds to have a voice in this Country.

I would maintain our image of unity and keep us in the media so our name is always in the minds of new and old citizens alike. Our message of free markets and transparency in Government will be held strong so no other group can come in and destroy what many have worked very hard to build.

It will be with this image that we attract new members and maintain a strong foothold in Congress. We will offer an opportunity to Citizens of all kinds to be able to put in and take out of this great Country as much as they want to work for. There is no better way to attract more people than with proof of a good environment.

Considering Party President cannot make policies I can only say as leader I will make sure our members in power do not let their guard down.

At last, a question!

I decided to run for party president because I feel that I have much to give back to Thailand for all that it has given me. Thailand is one of the few countries where one's voice can be heard almost instantly, and I feel that it is my civic duty to try and repay the people of Thailand in kind.

My plans for leadership are based off of three items. These things are:
1: Ensuring that we have a strong, active voter base for elections.
2: Recruitment of new citizens of Thailand into the PUP to enlarge and expand the voter base.
3: Establishment of strategic alliances with the smaller parties of Thailand to ensure the continuance of good government for the nation.

Congressionally, I would encourage as many of our citizens as possible to try and run for congressional seats. I personally was deeply disturbed by the fact that we had only 31 official candidates last election, as such a lack of people means that we are stuck with the ones that decided to run. In the wake of such useless and frankly dangerous proposals as the minimum wage increase bill proposed a few days ago, I intent to see that we can be sure of the continued integrity and honesty of our Congressmen.

As for the enlargement of the Thai population, it is my personal goal to try and get an active population of 450 people. Although a Party President has no say in foreign policy, I would pressure whomever the current President of Thailand was to make sure that they kept our national population recruitment programs as the top of their priorities.

Good answers to you both! Now why are there no other questions?!
