Dear citizens,
Why should I become president?
A president is an elected leader that should embody “the spirit of the nation” for the nation itself and the world.
Having the role of chief public representative includes personifying the continuity and legitimacy of the state, as well as exercising the political powers, functions and duties granted to you.
What military powers does the president have?
As a leader of the military forces you can choose which countries should be treated as enemies and at what time the army should march into a region to conquer it. It is also in your power to propose and sign peace treaties as well as mutual-protection pacts.
What are the other executive powers of the president?
As the head of state you can influence citizens’ lives with your proposals and decisions. Therefore, you are the one who can propose a trading embargo when you find it fit. Also, a region's development is in your hands. It is up to you to decide which regions should benefit from better health care. A higher quality hospital will certainly bring many citizens to a region that holds it. You may also give citizens a greater sense of security by proposing the installment of a defense system in their region.
What duties does the president have?
Maybe the most important and challenging task for a president is to collaborate with Congress. That's because in V1 almost all the laws that a president can propose depend on Congress’s approval.
Besides this, as a public representative you must look after the life of your citizens. As president you have the ability to talk to the masses so that you may have easy contact with each of your citizens. When the economy needs it, it is your duty to vote for setting a new citizen fee and also a minimum wage to ensure your citizens a high quality of life. Don't forget to make sure that the country you rule always has enough money in the budget. You can do this by voting on decisions that concern changing the taxes or making donations from your country treasury.
Rule your country with intelligence and justice. If your country’s citizens start to think that you are no longer wanted as the living national symbol of the state, then they will let their congressmen know and you risk an impeachment.
What do you have to do to become president (requirements)?
In order to be a candidate for the presidential elections you need at least 200 experience points (level 14) and you also need to be nominated by one of the presidents of the top five parties in your country (of course, if you are one of these party presidents, you can nominate yourself for presidency).
How do elections take place?
On the fifth day of each month, the presidential elections take place in eRepublik. You will need to visit the voting polls in order to see the list of the five presidential candidates from your country.
It is there that you can place your vote (if your experience level is at least 6) as your mind (or heart) tells you to.

I still don't like the elections. Congressional seats need to be based on number of votes for a party as a whole, and THEN divided among the party through personal elections.

A system with just two candidates that mostly agrees can not be called a democracy. I would vote for ether Brian Moore or Cynthia McKinney.
I don't like any of the candidates, though I suppose Obama could be labeled as "the lesser evil". Ron Paul is the man the US really needs.

He is meaning about the news made by the players "Top rated" "Latest" "International". People are voting news made by admins, and those news are being seen on your own spot on the homepage.
Why is it also shown on international, because why would it have to be on 2 places at the same time, or then he mean that because the paper is located in the USA it is showing on usa Top rated when voted for most. Both of there are happening and they are not necessary for the player, we have day to read about every update you do, considering that you keep informing them daily.

Turkey isn't doing that bad. eThailand companies are being taxed out of existence while the leaders steal money to run their companies. And they didn't even get votes for the most part. 16 of the 26 TNT congressmen got zero votes. The party as a whole got 21 votes total out of 76. I requested a criminal trial at my expense but it seems we aren't allowed to seek any sort of justice for the massive rule violations being committed.
Yes that system that people with zero votes are being elected is fatal in eThailand A party with 21 votes out of 76 that gets mayority is in no way proof of a good system. That system must not be regionalized, that can worsen the situation. So please change your system and help the eThais to get a normal congress.

As a dutch person I don't know what the hell USA is doing, choosing someone who looks good is not someone who is the best president. John Edwards was the best, I think as a lot of proffesors, teachers and student of whole Europe.

Dear Admin, we want to report about ICE2008 as one of the Indonesian's president candidate. We just realize that the rules about president elections in http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Voting_System#Country_President_Elections
mentions that any candidate need to be proposed by one of the presidents of the top 5 parties in Erepublik. And ICE2008 is coming from Australian Ind. Movement party which that party is not the one of 5 big parties in Indonesia.Maybe that's because of the system, but we're sure that you will delete him as a candidate.
