New Citizen Education: An Unwritten History

Day 1,047, 18:11 Published in USA USA by Department of Citizen Affairs

Hello, my name is rainy sunday and I am an eRepublik addict.

Today, I write to extend a warm welcome to our newest citizens to offer my perspective on life in eRepublik and lay the foundation for the opportunities before you. Apart from being a self-professed eRep junkie, I am the current Director of the eUS Department of Education, currently serving my 11th consecutive term in US Congress and beginning my 5th consecutive term as Congressional Whip. In addition to those responsibilities, I am the newest Grand Vizier of S.E.E.S., a position granted me by our Dear Leader and supported by those I hold in highest regard, many I consider the greatest masters and students of The Game. As an eRepublikan and proud Americkaan Dioist, I have ultimately chosen the path of Ultra-nationalist, (despite any rumors you may hear otherwise or any contradictory real life political views I may or may not hold.)

The Game, in and of itself, is far from perfection. Like life, it is in a constant state of change and deeply flawed. The beauty of eRepublik, like life, is what one can accomplish utilizing the available tools, exercising your own natural talents and acquired skills and taking initiative to explore greater possibilities to create something more than just another mundane daily routine.

Your future successes are dependent on creativity and collaboration, building relationships and exchanging ideas with the people you choose to surround yourself with. Hence the social-strategy descriptor.

As you begin your journey in this New World, you will encounter many helpful characters giving direction, offering advice and asking for your help in return. You will also meet tricksters and unscrupulous characters, be wary but unafraid. My advice to you is to pace yourself, get to know the community and explore the various features of The Game.

Let’s begin with some super simple Do’s, a few Don’ts plus a side of extra Bacon.

Do’s
- Do know your citizen and user rights
- Do upload an avatar. Be creative and show us some personality.
- Do get a job. See: Market tab, then see: Job Market
- Do work. For best results do this daily.
- Do train. See above. Did I mention daily?
- Do learn your way around the site’s various features and functions. (This is where most guides include screenshots and how-to’s that are inevitably overlooked, ignored or outdated due to game changes. I’m telling you to be adventurous, explore and discover these things for yourself.)
- Do read the New Citizen Welcome Message. Yes, You’ve got mail! Your President and Congressmen spent their lifetimes laboring over it, show some respect and read it.
- Do sign up for some free help using the eUS Department of Interior’s New Citizen Assistance Request form (Please be patient, response time may vary. There are real people responding to your request. If your wait time exceeds 48 hours, I suggest you spam the inbox of the Country President. Repeatedly.)
- Do explore wiki. See: Community tab, then see: Wiki
- Do read and participate in the media. Frequently.
- Do read the eRepublik Insider to keep apprised of pending game changes, admin updates and announcements.
- Do join eUS forums and introduce yourself in the Welcoming Committee area. Visit often. Explore. You’ll find a load of game information, unsolicited advice and historical insight, discussion of current events, active experienced citizens on standby to lend a hand not to mention areas for real life discussion, debate and general randomness to entertain yourself for hours. Don’t feed the trolls, unless you’re into that sort of self-abuse.
- Do add some high ranking citizens and government affiliated organizations as friends Listen to their shouts with a discerning ear. Use your own shouts wisely.

Don’ts
- Don’t waste too much time in eRepublik chat. See instea😛Internet Relay Chat
- Don’t waste too much time in eRepublik forums. See instea😛 eus forums
- Don’t allow yourself to fall into a rut. If you find yourself dissatisfied with a particular group or activity, find something else to do.
- Don’t hesitate to ask questions. Be persistent, the worst that could happen is someone may confuse you for some other guy. RIP Dan Wang.
- Don’t waste your Gold. Gold is a precious commodity in eRepublik. I urge you to spend it sparingly early on and learn how to best put it to use. In the event you choose to abandon The Game, please donate any remaining Gold and/or currencies to the Congressional Budget Office or an organization or citizen of your choice.

as promised, your extra Bacon

The strongest arguments prove nothing so long as the conclusions are not verified by experience. Experimental science is the queen of sciences and the goal of all speculation. ~Roger Bacon

Read not to contradict and confute, nor to believe and take for granted... but to weigh and consider. ~Francis Bacon

Now for the Very Short List of recommended US newspaper subscriptions:

- Department of Defense Orders As a young citizen soldier, this should be your first stop before heading out to battle. Vote these daily and check back for updates before engaging in any battles.
- The Briefing Room Publishes Official White House Press Reports
- The Pony Express’ The Express Delivery Provides links to recommended reading and preselected articles approved by the eUS Government. By voting up the recommended articles, you increase their visibility in the media place. By reading the recommended articles, you arm yourself with knowledge.

Is this thing on or do I need to turn it up?
Your history is yours to write; play smart, have fun and write it well.

Kindest regards,
rainy sunday
