My Shipwreck
Thedillpickl
Hi kids!
Growing up around water I've always liked boating and was USCGAUX for some time. The lake I live on in Missouri is large as man made lakes go and I've been caught in some rough weather. While it is life threatening to be in a storm with high winds on any water, I cannot fully understand being miles from shore in 35 foot breakers that can rip your ship apart.
SS Edmund Fitzgerald went down in Lake Superior on November 10th, 1975.
All 29 crewmen were lost.
My Shipwreck
While incomparable to the above tragedy, I'm experiencing my own shipwreck of sorts. It's undetermined whether I've merely ran aground on a sand bar or went down with all hands. Regardless, my time has come to back off. I'm not planning to leave completely but there will be no more major gold purchases to fund my romps through the battlefield.
I suppose reaching "Diamond" means I win or I loose depending upon your POV.
Admin has seen fit to take the last little bit of fun from the game while continuing to offer even more reasons to buy his fake gold. It is possible I may buy some pack or stash if I keep piddling around here but my hay day is over. Sorry Plato, you loose in the end.
What To Expect
Discussion is underway with my commune workers and MU. Early responses favor me "cashing in" and going out with a bang. It feels kind of odd destroying what took years to build in a matter of days. I suppose it's like building sand castles all day and then watching the tide come in to wipe 'em out.
One thing I am considering is being [Canadian] 'Emperor for the day'. Rylde has had his turn, now I want to see if my ass fits the chair. Don't worry, I have no intention of disappearing if this happens. As always I will look out for Canada's interests. I wouldn't want to ruin it for anyone that's still having fun.
It is still possible that I may just become a recluse and do some work helping n00blets get a good start. Kind of seems pointless though as my dim view of things would probably shine through. Not to mention that I've possibly forgot more than most people know about eRep. That's bad because the part I've forgotten is the part that the n00bs need.
No Farewell's
I'm not leaving just yet so there'll be no big list of names or fond memories. So stick your damned hanky back in yer pocket and quit looking so long in the face. Besides, do you remember the last guy/gal you boohoo'ed about as they left? I didn't think so.
Final Note
I do want to note one positive thing. I had a pretty good time writing this article and finding appropriate pics. Way back when, the media was one of my favorite parts of the game. I'd like to thank Admin for updates to the "Write Article" page, it works great! (...And it only took 4 years to fix it!!)
To US Friends
I remember my start here. Lots of fun learning politics the American way. Love it or hate it, the training I received serving in the US Congress was an invaluable education. Possibly the best part was my many times as Whip.
I found many friends and made a few enemies. Even though I left the US my friends remain. (I made new enemies elsewhere so I left those here alone. lol) I hope those that remember me have good memories.

You've always been one of my favorite people, dill. 😉 You will continue to be remembered fondly by me not matter when or how you leave. Whatever you do, let it be fun for you.
My rule #2: Do whatever you find that is fun to do. 🙂
Tons of good memories, buddy.
And you know, as someone who never spent one red cent on eRep, this perspective seems different to me. I'm only here for the community now and because I want to see what happens next. If the game is no longer worth your financial investment, I can definitely understand that, but I'm inclined to think that it's got further to go before it stops being worth the time investment.
Anyway, sometimes taking a step back is the right thing to do. It's like washing your face in the sink in the morning: sometimes you just need to take a minute to reorient yourself.
That's my point exactly. Plato has ruined my fun of throwing my weight around, now let's see if grassroots can be worthwhile for me.
You were easily the 2nd Greatest Whip of all time. ^_~
I hope you continue to find enjoyment in media.
Rainy and Cromy were my favorite Speakers. Those were good times.
