My Flight's Leaving

Dear citizens of the eNetherlands,

It surely hasn't been gone unnoticed to many of you. The country is currently in a state of shut-down due to a disagreement between ''me'' and the forum-Congress. The disagreement entails the fact I happened to be both Dictator and President at the same time (being elected President kinda by 'accident') which is not allowed by the laws on our forum. The toxic environment of the forum has made any solution to this impossible, procedures and votes being censored and moderated by certain people who in-game wouldn't even win an election due to their tarnished reputation and improper methods. After the 2nd in the last Presidential Elections and many with him suggested an exception this month (a motion I proposed to allow an exception to be made only this month was censored and never allowed to be voted on again) I decided to stand my ground against this ill institute that dictates the game instead of being a mere and helpful addition to it.

But alas, the holy meta-gaming has claimed yet another 'victory' this month. No government keys were handed out to the appropriate persons, voting rights were taken away on the forum, the administration took heavy use of censoring to direct debates in their direction. To conclude, the country has been hijacked - and it's not by me. Meanwhile, all those 'debaters' rather let the country go to hell than to dedicate themselves to the actual country in-game (hello forum-Congress, there is an event going on).


Over the last couple of days I have been thinking of what I can actually still achieve for the eNetherlands. Sure, I have been given carte blanches and praises and every mandate when my material help were put to good use, back when we could defeat superpower Croatia off just last year. But every other dedicated free hour to the eCountry is being blockaded, bickered over and only results in frustration instead of progress. I can do nothing else than conclude that this country is terminally ill due to meta-gaming, and that I alone am not strong enough to ever change that.

Therefore I have decided to give it all up. I'm not being appreciated (but I'm used to that), but I'm also not able to steer the eNetherlands into progress anymore. Considering that I've gotten some other RL activities these days as well, my interest was already lower than once before. I was still willing to put up with the eNetherlands, but after the last month even that is gone. One side of me wants to see the fancy people with 'principles' or the corrupted forum benchers talking about 'law' rule and ruin the country, one the other hand I would pity those that are not supportive of the current system as well.

Anyways, I'll resign all my current posts and will stay out of them for the foreseeable future. I sincerely hope the remainder of the eNetherlands can pull itself together with such a controversial figure as me out of the spotlight. I have essentially governed the country all on my own the last 2 years, starting with the last German invasion (in which some already accepted the fate of being wiped for years again) until now. I have been working together with several figures over these months, people like Jordic and Shawtyl0w, one of the few people who were concerned with the country and also showed an extreme dedication in time and effort in it as well. Those people have become sparse recently, nevertheless I hope such bright lights are given the go to keep steering our country in the right way without being as obstructed as I am.
