My Congressional Voting Record (week 26/10/12 - 2/11/12)
Comrade Lovely
A summary of the votes I have participated in during my current tenure in Congress.
Friday 26th October
Minimum Wage - proposed by Mick St John (Saoirse).
Minimum wage change from 0.1 IEP to 100 IEP
Voted 'No'. Reasoning: I recognise the valuable contribution communes makes to eIreland's economic life. Whilst most communes are based elsewhere, raising the minimum wage to 100 IEP would make any new communes based here uneconomic. The challenge for government is to expand the commune system, not kill it off.
Saturday 27th October
Alliance - proposed by Skorpion1984
President of Ukraine proposed a mutual protection pact with Ireland
Voted 'Yes'. Reasoning: Ukraine is a member of EDEN and so we are obligated by treaty to MPP.
Sunday 28th October
Natural Enemy UK - proposed by Unteroffizier Rolf Steiner (Saoirse).
Voted 'No'. Reasoning: another mental proposal from Saoirse. We not only have treaty obligations with the UK (somewhat unilaterally amended with the cancellation of the region swap) but we need to get our own house in order before picking a fight with our neighbour. We can barely feed bootcamp and the treasury is bare. I'm all for the benefits of NEing the UK in the future, but now is not the time.
Monday 29th October
President Impeachment - proposed by MrConway (tfyla)
Voted 'No'. Reasoning: third impeachment vote of the current CP's term. It's getting boring.
Tuesday 30th October
Alliance - proposed by Zek Punga
President of Argentina proposed a mutual protection pact with Ireland
Vote😛
'Yes'.
Thursday 1st November
Natural Enemy Poland - proposed by MrConway (tfyla)
Vote😛
'No'. We would have been wiped with no guarantee that Poland would have kept this to a TW.
Alliance - proposed by Xenocryst, 3 days ago
President of Republic of China (Taiwan) proposed a mutual protection pact with Ireland.
Vote😛
'Yes'.
Friday 2nd November
Natural Enemy UK - proposed by Unteroffizier Rolf Steiner (Saoirse)
Vote😛
'No'. Another rogue proposal by this Saoirse congressman at a time when a TW is being organised with Canada.
Sunday 4th November
Natural Enemy Canada - proposed by Seamus Kellie (ILP)
Vote😛
'Yes'. Finally a sensible NE proposal where we've actually worked it out with Canada.
VAT & Import Taxes: Weapons - proposed by Mossy Hayes (tfyla)
Taxes New Old
Value added tax (VAT) 1% 5%
Import Tax 99% 99%
Vote😛
'No'. Another mental proposal from tfyla. We need to rebuild our treasury atm so relatively high taxes must remain.
Comments
Good vote.
eIrish wages are always high above the minimum wage of 0.1cur. Legislation to raise minimum wage only compromises our ability to run military communes.
However the question that should be raised, is that given this accommodation for communes, should business have to pay income tax? Communes are effectively tax evasion, so should we even the playing field for our shrinking demographic of capitalists?
It's certainly hard running a business in Ireland at the moment. I've not sold any weapons for a while as the price is so poor and few are buying, hence I donated 50 Q5 to Boot Camp, rather than have them lying in storage.
On the note that you make about not been able to sell your Q5 weaps Liam, mainly the issue is people want to use the best type of weapons possible.
My solution to the GM's having problems selling Q5 and Q6 weapons could be if the free supply system is set back up that the state buy them Quality weapons only and give them out as the free weapons.
This will help GM's who are struggling to sell due to lack of demand or price been so low that they are losing money by selling at current prices.
Damn post limits.
If this was agreed there could be no possible reason for people who are getting weapons to complain because they are getting them for free, if they complain then my response will be supply yourself. You are getting free weapons so you havent a leg to stand on if you are looking for basically hand outs.
Good point Marcus. I never like using anything worse than a Q7 these days, which might explain why it's now so hard to sell lower Q weapons.

Now we have a NE from United Kingdom.
^ FYI: I voted 'No'.
Actually Marcus that's a good idea
