You profited big time by this, in both trying to keep Serbia weak, and trying to re-conquer Vojvodina thanks to the missing MPPs.

Croatia had lots and lots of chances to make peace. The answer was asking Americans to defend Vojvodina through the active MPP, declaring war to Serbia. Even after the TO, with no harm done yet, Croatia decided to tank against the Serbian attacks.

The chance to make peace is there now as well. Of course the price is much higher, since Croatia has nothing besides money to offer.

@malosanmaka: if Romania would have returned the Hungarian regions when it had the chance too, probably know their empire would stratch from the Ukraine to India.
