Military Units and Political Parties

Day 1,844, 15:50 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Elisa Vorimberg

As I've been playing along here, I have noticed an interesting trend. Lots of political parties have a military unit associated with them. This doesn't make too much sense to me.

It seems to me that fighting should not be motivated by internal county politics, but by the needs and desires of the country as a whole and the ruling party. If one political party disapproves of a war would their military unit actually fight against their country? This turns fighting into a very political thing.

Additionally we end up with awkward situations. For instance after analyzing the economic system, I've determined that being part of a commune and getting some of the products is the best way to play. There is a military unit that does this quite well, and I wish to be part of their fighting group. However, they are associated with a party that I have some doubts about, consequently I've joined a different political party. Evidently this is highly unusual, and people have noticed and informed me I should join a different military unit.

I don't want to though. I think this military unit makes most sense to me, and that political party makes most sense to me.

While I am relatively new to the political system here, and only tentatively picked a party, I don't think I should be pressured into changing my military unit or my party. They should be entirely separate, just like church and state in real life, and for that matter political parties and armies in real life!

Also the blatant bribery some parties use to gain new members is incredible, and disturbing. The last time I saw such behavior was because the party was funded by a foreign government as a political take over. I believe these practices to be a result of associating politics with fighting.

Then again maybe I'm just crazy.
