Merry Christmas, eRepublik

Some people are wondering about the money I've been giving away...

This day of Advent, I was meditating a little bit on the Christmas holiday that we are awaiting. For those who believe, the gift of God's son to the world... the whole world.

There's a quote from a passage of Matthew's Gospel, "He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." It exhorts us to greet not only our brothers and give love not only to our friends, but even, also, and especially to enemies to be "perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect."



Obviously, my meager virtual gifts in a browser game don't amount to much, but I have chosen to give them to help remind me of this. I donated 1 GOLD each to 250 eCitizens residing in eGreece (regardless of cause or citizenship). I didn't have the time to write a note to each individual, although I am writing replies to whomever has written me. I hope that you may find this article by way of explanation, greeting, and wishes of a happy Christmas holiday.

As a token of appreciation for my country of eGreece and as a responsible citizen of it, I also donated 500 GOLD to the Hellenic Depository.



To whom much is given, much is expected. I have 250 GOLD more to give away before I might be able to achieve a zero balance again...

If you are an outgoing individual within the eRepublik world and are genuinely motivated to help people within the game, without regard to alliance ties or nationality, you are invited to write an article in which you explain:

(1) What you would do with a gift of GOLD in order to benefit others (and how much you think you'd need). Something that makes the eRepublik world more fun (Olympic games?), something that helps people in need (newbie tickets?), something that gets people out of a rut (gifts for those unable to fight?), something that spreads education, something that builds global community across country lines? It's your idea; make it something to which you can commit.

(2) Some bona fides of establishment within the eRepublik world and a desire to protect your own reputation. I have no wish to give these awards to deceitful or lazy individuals.



In contrast to this pic, I'm deadly serious about the awards. They will be in the amounts of 100 GOLD, 75 GOLD, 50 GOLD, and 25 GOLD... more in relation to the need of the cause than any rank of the request article quality. Truly worthy causes that demonstrate good results may be able to receive ongoing patronage.
