Mahmoud for North West of England Congress!
Hello citizens of the North West of England!
I'm Mahmoud Ibn Abdullah and I'm running for Congressman representing your region. I'd like to take a minute to ask for your vote in the coming election.
About Myself
I've been playing erepublik for a little over a year now, with all but my first week spent in the eUnited Kingdom. For the last year I've been a member of the UK armed forces almost continuously, and I've just recently done enough damage to become a Field Marshal. I've served in Congress once before, almost a year ago, but put politics aside to focus on serving in the military.

Spectrum
I decided to run for Congress because there's a new Party in town, Spectrum. While it may have risen from the ashes of the Radical Freethinkers Alliance, Spectrum is a brand new party with new leadership and a lot of new, active members as well as some experienced citizens providing guidance. As some of you might know, the political scene in the eUK has been the left-wing Unity Party quarreling with the conservative UK Reform party, with all the other parties allying to one or the other. Spectrum seeks to change that by essentially allowing candidates to run on their individual merits rather than a party platform. At the moment, we're more like a platform of independent candidates than any of the Establishment parties. We want to create a new politics in the eUK, one that isn't dominated by TUP, UKRP, or their allies.

Look at that handsome fellow! You should totally vote for him!
Policies
As for policies, all I can honestly offer you is to sincerely represent your interests in Congress and to be responsive to your concerns. If elected, I WILL make sure any citizen of the North West will be able to come to me and make suggestions. Other candidates promise you free food, or offer to draft laws on our national forums that cannot be enforced in the game. I think this is a waste of time. Many players don't use the offsite forums, so what goes on there really doesn't affect them. (Though I HIGHLY recommend you join the forums @ erepublik.co.uk if you haven't already done so; its a load of fun!) Instead, players are concerned about maintaining a wise tax policy, making sure goods are available and cheap in the marketplace, and ensuring our national defense. I shall oppose any measure that threatens these core values. I am a strong beleiver in individual responsibility and oppose any moves to develop a welfare state. Why? Erepublik is a game people play for fun, and when you accomplish something, whether it be founding a new business or leveling up, it feels good. I don't want to threaten that sense of accomplishment by having the government hand out everything we need- where's the challenge in that? Besides, government and party hand outs threaten small business, and EVERBODY in erepublik is a potential small business owner.
Which brings me to my final belief, which is that we need to do everything we can to make this game fun. Too many people, especially in parties like the TUP, take this game altogether too serious and are constantly trying to come up with complex social and economic schemes to mess with the economy in this or that way, or to try to get more people to join the eUK. This is boring and not fun. The only thing that makes people join the game is fun, not partisan rancor splitting hairs about some economic policy or another, and I can promise you that if elected I will support any measure that I think makes the game more fun for all involved, and I will always be open to suggestions from my constituents on how to improve gameplay in the eUK.
TL;DR I will be a fun, centrist candidate who will focus on ingame issues, not the drama on the eUK forums.
I hope I get your vote, but more importantly I hope you have a fabulous day!

And fighting of course.
Best of luck to you, Mahmoud. Voted.
"all but my first week spent in the eUnited Kingdom."
What about your first week, where were ya?
Iran. I was a noob and didn't realize that other countries were populated by non-English speakers. I stayed until I had enough money for a moving ticket then moved here.
^That's me. I was logged into my org at the time.
