Level 37 - Little fish surviving in Division 4

Day 1,762, 08:24 Published in Ireland Ireland by Death and Taxes

So, back in the good old days in Division 3, the rules were fairly easy to understand when it came to battles. The rule of the thumb (currently) was that about 1.5m was the standard minimum to earn a BH in a non-contentious battle.

So if you wanted to earn a BH, you had better be sure to put a marker down at that level with another 500k on tap at least in order to secure it. Contentious battlefields would usually be a good deal higher, 5m+ in a humdinger was not unusual.

Of course, if your priorities are like mine, then the BH came down the list after country - friends - alliances - me. But the 1.5m was also a very good marker on influence. If you were putting in 1.5m in a non-contentious battle, it's certainly going to be a major factor in the winning and losing of it.

So where do these figures come from? Well, for level 36 assuming you are on top of your game with 3/4 training grounds maxed out, you'll be around World Class Force+ with about 10k strength. You'll also have 1300 health max and have two rockets available to you.

This will give you about 1.2m in basic hits and another 1m in rockets if required. Topped off with natural replenishment of about 80k, this means that without resorting to candy bars and bazookas you can comfortably do 2.3m every two days. You'd have to be pretty unlucky to get a BH, but that kind of damage is very welcome in the campaigns we need to win.

There are always exceptions to the rule, but in essence this is a good average.

Big Tanks in D4

But in Division 4 the rulebook gets thrown out the window completely. Those of us who remember when there were no divisions will get that pathetic feeling of being a little pop-gun again.

In D4 the minimum BH achievement is 4m. So coming into this as a shiny WCF** with 10k hit, 1300 health and 2 rockets, we are looking at a max 3.4m including refreshed health.

This is still a nice bit of damage in an individual battle, but frankly it's only there as a supplement compared to where you were in D3. We also have to take into account that from this point there is now a very limited amount of +5% ranks on hand, 6 to GoW in fact, so your advancement in damage is going to be slow and mostly strength related.

My recommendation? Don't bother with the 1m rocket option upgrade until your maxi hit is 14000 if you're after BH's. Otherwise, if you are country-friends-alliances-me orientated, take the option on the next cheap upgrade.

But get used to the fact that you are just a mere grunt again.

This article once again is to highlight that this country cannot become a mediocre power with a close-knit military structure where people fight for each other. I commend Seanan's Ireland Fight Night as a step in the right direction.

Constructive criticism appreciated.
