Latvia, Egypt, is it fair to sabotage?

Greetings!

Before I start explaing the issue, please let me remind you about the event we are participating in. Resource Wars is an event where 74 countries compete for resources with their own needs and their own situations. The rules are also set that countries COMPETE for their resources – this is not „only after you” gentlemen event. Heck, this event can theoretically even change political/alliance landscape.

Today Latvia was going for Deer resource, where our timing was slightly off, which led us to messing with Egyptian battle, which of course led to some major dissatisfaction from Egyptian side. It is quite common practice, some may say it`s wrong, some may say it`s ok. I`m on the „it`s ok” side. Why?

Every single country these 30 days is running by this mindset:

The goals of my country > goals of your country

You take resource when you feel like you have the opportunity to take it, because the opportunity might not come around again. You mess your opponent up if needed because you are FIGHTING for your resources, you are COMPETING. If someone can take the resource from you away, then you do not deserve it in the first place. Latvia has lost opportunities to take resource on numerous occasions due to sabotage from other nations(including friendly ones) during these and previous Resource Wars.

So things between Latvia and Egypt have escalated quite a bit, mostly on Egyptian side. Ruthless Warrior has proposed an AirStrike on Latvia already. This is the same guy who from his previous account proposed an AirStrike on Urugay because a guy from that country stole his BH, which just further makes me believe that admins should implement a mandatory IQ test before allowing someone to become CP/Dictator.

So is it fair to sabotage others?

So first of all, planning for attemt at resource for many countries takes half a day, where battles and domination points are planned etc. That means that half a day is a period where the sabotage can be done – either in the beginning or in the end. I can assure you, knowing that Egypt has many D3 tanks, that they have unintentionally messed up domination point gathering for other countries. You know, you hit in one battle not knowing what their battle plan is, hit a bit too much, the round gets extended by 15 minutes. That is 20 minute error on plan right there. That is as much of a sabotage as it is to intentionally fight against someone in the last hour – the only difference is that noone keeps track of all the battles for 12 hours straight, you know, because RL is a thing and noone really cares about this game.

Second of all, once again, the event is called Resource WARS. If you can`t take the resource, you don`t deserve it – it applies to the smallest nations as well as to the largest ones. If you want to play ice hockey without contact plays, then try figure skating. I would much rather lose a resource on an intence attempt to get it than getting it without any fight. Why should everyone else step aside? If you have a chance, then go for it. You know when Egypt could call us unfair(as they called us numerous times)? If we would mess their battle coordination constantly, when we would specifically target them to take them out of their attempts for resources.

When two countries are fighting each other with full awareness of the situation in the last hour, it`s a fair battle.

This time none of us got the resource, and since Estonia got Deer, we will not be able to set it in our cores. But it was fun, and this „fun” resource is 10x rarer than Neodymium is in this game, so I think it was worth it.
