ENGLISH VERSION

First of all I wish to clarify that I do not belong to the Government of eArgentina, nor do I believe to be the voice of the people of eArgentina, in fact, it’s possible that most eArgentineans disagree with me. I’m just a normal citizen making a comment.

Current status and background

Throughout its eLife, eArgentina has been in a bunch of alliances, namely Atlantis, PEACE, Phoenix, TERRA and now EDEN. In its beginnings, due to its condition as a medium to small country, eArgentina joined alliances as a need for survival in this eWorld, and the changes from one alliance to the next happened because of the alliance’s break up, forcing us to follow countries with whom we had good relations.

The transition from Atlantis towards PEACE occured during the context of a two way invasion from Brasil and Indonesia, were we felt abandoned by our alliance, so we left as a retaliations and as a desperate move to not disappaear. The transition from PEACE into Phoenix happened after the break up of PEACE, and the formation of an alliance (Phoenix) with a core of strong countries, that included one of our best allies at the time, Indonesia. The relations with Brasil where not good, and without an alliance, the chances of getting wiped by Brasil where notoriously real, so the entrance into Phoenix was also in part due to survival.

Once inside Phoenix, Brasil and Argentina created a strong bond and friendship still strong today that served as foundation of an ad-hoc alliance between Brasil, Indonesia, Argentina and Turkey called BIAT. Those bonds within BIAT weren’t formed just out of goodwill, they also proved to be strategically important, allowing each country to accomplish their military and economic goals easily, since the necesities where well focused, and being only 4 countries, the individual interest of one became the priority of the whole.

With the breakup of Phoenix due to a conflict between Brasil and Hungary, we stood with Brazil and, even with some reserves regarding the composition of the alliance (mainly Indonesia’s absence), we decided to join Brasil’s project with the USA and entered PANAM, later called TERRA. I always was personally against joining TERRA if Indonesia didn’t also joined.

Predictably, it didn’t took long until TERRA started to present us with conflicts of interest. Turkey left the alliance after an open treason of some of its members, and the conflict between Indonesia and USA didn’t took long to restart again. Fighting for both Indonesia and Turkey frequently collided with the interests of the alliance, so we decided to officially leave TERRA, although keeping close ties with its members due to our loyalty to Brasil.

The unofficial stanceof being pro-TERRA not only helped us to keep good MPPs with all TERRA, EDEN and countries that (at the time) where not alligned but close to us like Turkey, but it also allowed us a freedom of action that until then we had never enjoyed, something that, weird enough, made us more focused and useful to the objectives of TEDEN than what we ever where while officialy being in TERRA.

Unexplicably a process to officialy enter EDEN began, all under the weak argument of “we need an alliance in order to survive”. The counter-argument that being in the alliance would create conflict with countries we consider brothers and where not in it, like Brazil to mention one, was answered with “everything’s good with Brasil, we’ll always give Brasil priority”. Then after Turkey entered EDEN that became the “strong point” and Argentina officialy entered EDEN. Just like with TERRA, I was and still am against our entrance to that alliance.

The indentity crisis

The eArgentina of today is not the same eArgentina of two years ago. However, the only ones who appear to not realize this are the eArgentineans.

eArgentina still today feels it’s absolutely necesary to be in an alliance to survive. The eArgentineans still see eArgentina like the medium to small country that had to spend it all to take a region from Bolivia. I feel we’re very, very wrong.

Little more than a year ago eArgentina was 3 times smaller in military strenght and population than countries like Indonesia, Brasil and Spain, countries that have always been considered important in the eWorld. Little more than a year ago, eArgentina was a second rate country.

The eArgentina of today has a bigger active population than Indonesia, Brasil and Spain, and has a military power that’s almost equal to that of Brasil, and higher than Spain and Indonesia. Of course, we’re still far from being like the United States, Serbia, Bulgaria or Poland, but we’re very far from being the country that could only entertain itself by a attacking Bolivia, like two years ago.

Today Brazil and Spain are two important legs in the table that is CTRL along with the US and Poland. We? We still feel it’s necesary to be formally in old alliances, without caring about the conflicts they may bring to us, just because “we need to survive”.

The conflict

Even before being officially in the TEDEN block, eArgentina has been building close ties with countries like Croatia, USA, Romania, Ukraine, Ireland and Greece. And it’s important to say that to us directly they’ve been awesome allies. But still today, Brasil and Turkey remain our closest, more identifiable and older allies we have.

Being in EDEN is preventing us from taking a stronger and desicive stance against the romanian TO in Brazil… something that eArgentina should assume almost as hostile as the brazileans percieve it, being that if Brazil becomes unstable in its congress it will directly hurt argentinean interests, not just our brotherhood with Brazil (bonuses and military strategy), it’s just as bad as us getting TOed ourselves.

Of course, an open conflict with Romania to the point where it currently stands in Brazil is not necesary or desirable for Argentina. Romania has been a great ally to us and it’s a pleasure to fight with them, but as long as its government looks the other way while an MU of its country is making a TO on an important ally, it understimates the damage it does to EDEN as an alliance, and specifically to eArgentina, who is close in ties and geographically to Brazil. Being in EDEN is closing us the chance to go out and defend Brazil like we should, that limitation is unacceptable.

Now the USA, another ally to Argentina, is being subject of a TO organized by several EDEN countries. That action seen by many as an act of the whole alliance, damages Argentina, and pushes the United States and Brazil to look for allies that could be potential enemies of us.

eArgentina is being gratitiously affected by the actions of some countries within EDEN. Due to the geographical location of both Brasil and the United States, and specially, due to the huge benefits that our brotherhood with Brasil provides for our nations, eArgentina is the country that stands the most to lose in the mid to long term because of all of this. And we’re being suicidally silent.

Wake up eArgentina

Personally I’m tired of eArgentina always being bullied into “choosing sides” because of stupid conflicts generated by other countries.

We’re not the same country from 1 year ago that must accept the route that its international relations force them to. Our military and economic capacity places us on the same level as important countries in this game, and right now eArgentina stands at the distance of one click of not only getting stronger, but to rise itself into the Top 5 or, who knows, maybe even reach the absolute top of military strenght of countries in this game, within just a few months.

Today eArgentina can create its own path just like Brasil and Spain do. The times of “daddy Brazil”, “mommy Spain”, “mommy Indo” or ”daddy EDEN” for wich we’ve been known throughout the times are over, and the only people who apparently can’t tell this, it’s ourselves.

The friendships and alliances ARE necesary in this game, sadly not all countries can choose their friends and allies… that was our past reality. Today is different, eArgentina can choose without fearing for its survival.

The conflicts of EDEN against our allies, specially Brazil, must end now. If leaving EDEN is what it’s gonna take to get the message across so be it. Generally to us, EDEN has been an excellent ally, there’s even countries like Croatia with whom we have a friendship that feels like a brotherhood and for whom I’m sure eArgentina will give everything on the battlefield for. But EDEN, as an alliance, must understand that they have to stop messing around with Brasil… seriously, it’s enough.

Once again there are winds of change blowing over the alliances in eRepublik… I think it’s time for eArgentina for the first time in its history to define it’s place for itself, next to those that have been our friends and brothers for so long… even if that means leaving a good alliance like EDEN… I’m sure that by being with those that have been there for so long, we’ll have a better future.
