Irish Phrases (Part 3)
Dia dhuit a cairde! (... friends.). Conas ata tu?
This weeks article will continue along the theme I have set for myself of conversational phrases. I hope some of you who have forgotten your Gaeilge are re-learning it and I hope everybody that never knew any has learnt a bit and will learn some more.
This weeks phrases are:
Conas ata tú?
Pronounced: cunn-us ah-taw to
It means: 'How are you?'
Táim go maith
Pronounced: tah-imm guh mawt
It means: 'I am well'
agus tú fein?
Pronounced: og-us to fane
It means: 'and yourself' or 'and you'
This phrase will be tagged on to the end of the previous phrase so you will get Táim go maith agus tú fein? Meaning: I am well and you?
Táim tinn
Pronounced: tah-imm teen
It means: 'I am sick'
Go raibh maith agat a leamh.
