Ireland Needs You. Read to the bottom (youtube) and you'll see why.
Irish Department of Defence
This month has been a momentous one for the Irish state, the recent "Shannon Exercise" masterminded by President Nithraldur triggered intense military activity and split our brave nation into two camps of highly motivated and outspoken views. The wealth of data collected on military operational readiness has been mammoth in proportion, and eye-popping in it's serious nature. Never before in the history of this state have we had so much intelligence at hand as to the real state of our preparedness for war.
This is not the place for further debate. This is a serious call to action.
A translation from the Latin. "Therefore, he who wishes peace, should prepare war; he who desires victory, should carefully train his soldiers; he who wants favorable results, should fight relying on skill, not on chance."
Whilst we continue to debate internal politics, the e-World is at war. Continuous fighting across nations, from take-overs to resistance wars, governments and armies in exile, the landscape is changing rapidly. Now is not the time for complacency. Focus is needed. Now.
First, I want to highly commend the brave soldiers of our IDF.
They have taken all of the command changes and mobilisation events firmly in their stride.
Training has continued. New recruits arrive daily. Previously inexperienced citizens have taken to the battle-fields and given their all. C.O.s have busted their collective guts to rally their troops. Men are out on voluntary foreign missions tracking events overseas.
From bare-fisted fighters, to privates with q1 guns, right through the ranks our men, diplomats, congresspeople and fierce celtic women have dragged themselves up by their boot-straps and collectively sounded the battle-cry. WE ARE IRISH ! WILL PREVAIL !
I have proudly served alongside them. I have watched battles from beginning to end, analysed fighting styles, tracked foreign mercenaries and battle heroes, and head-hunted high ranking soldiers to join our army. I have benchmarked our performance against other states. We have much still to do.
I invite every last one of you to join the IDF now.
Our natural state of "saints and scholars" can only continue to flourish if we can first defend our homeland to the best of our ability. Every citizen has a part to play.
Join now. I guarantee you, no-one will be turned away.
Noobs can be mentored in a reserve division, where they will be taught to fight well, and increase their wellness.
Experienced soldiers can learn from others, and get more opportunities to serve both at home and abroad. Rank up quickly, and in style.
Positions are open for those who want to stretch themselves into become a commanding officer. Contact me, I'm listening.
Camaraderie and the sharing of intelligence amongst soliders is a rare and precious gift. Barrack rooms can be the scene of a much enriched e-life with your comrades.
But, as they say, it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.
I hope to e-God you have read this far. Because here's the kicker. If there is a single one of you wondering why this is important, then watch this now. Do it. Really. This is what a real e-army looks like. (please paste the link into a search, the format will not allow a hyperlink. It is the main point of this article. Don't ignore it. Please!)

It's not too late.
Those still waiting assignment to a division, I assure you , you have not been overlooked. This will happen within days.
Finally, it is CP election time again. Whatever the outcome, this is not a political issue. Trust me. It is a matter of national and state security. Politicians may come and go, at the vote of a democratic electorate, but the defence of our nation, and preservation of our way of life is paramount. Never, ever forget that.
I would die for my country, but I would not let my country die for me.
Dismissed. *salutes*
Grainne, deputy Minister of Defence.
**** The traditional closing message to my troops alone. *mwah*. I love every last stinking one of you fine Irish brutes. Without your dedication and bravery, we are NOTHING! ******
Comments
Oh Grainne you will get fine soliders from recruitments 😉
ahemm..... British army propoganda posters? tut tut! lol ... Nice article
That was very well put together, Grainne. Recognized your handiwork all over it even before I read the author's name!
I've enlisted, but for obvious reasons would like to remain within the country for now.
@Sean, in WW1 1914, Ireland was still under british rule. *grr*
As I said, "Politicians may come and go...but the defence of our nation, and preservation of our way of life is paramount. Never, ever forget that."
@ LR. good point about mobilisation, may I assure all serving congresspeople considering joining, that you will be placed in a special division for national defence and will remain on home soil.
Great work Grainne! Well how can they resist?
When your signing up put division 8 as the one you want to go to 😉
Sweet Jesus that hungarian video is daunting...
Im going enlisting Grainne..
Grainne, All I can say, is thank god you were not the warden in Dublin Castle....I have a feeling that I would have ended up polishing shells
@Bryan, thank e-god someone actually watched it...a sobering thought, huh? You will be welcome, Sergeant.
@Tayto - better to be with me, than against me, solider...ask any of my troops. ;0)
Grainne, ....What the hell do you eat for breakfast....is it dead before your jaws close!!!!!...I'm now tempted to report upon the IDF, perhaps you would let me and my personal photographer participate in a field exercise.
love it ! if dat doesnt get the ranks swelling i dont know wot will... voted and passed on
to others
@castaneda, I also should acknowledge the outstanding work you have done recently Lieutenant. The public will be unaware of it, but your bravery, energy and commitment to understanding the nature of international warfare helped motivate me to write this article.
At ease, soldier.
@ Tayto, report to my office tomorrow morning, 6.30am. I will consider your request in the interests of wider publicity.
Could get no better CO... 🙂
Great Job Grainne. You should be MoD!
@Grainne, A sobering thought indeed, and I am not usually sober...But thats after making me enlist. And if anyone watches that video, and doesnt enlist, their not true irish.
Good rallying call, but the actual experience of enlisting in the IDF is however pretty underwhelming.
I joined a few weeks ago in the hope that I would get help with training weapons to make me a better soldier for Ireland whenever I would be called upon. Sadly there was none forthcoming and no real contact either.
With whatever money I got to buy weapons, I had to import them as they were cheaper abroad. With all the weapons the Irish state companies make there are none available to help train up new Irish soldiers - thats a pretty sad state of affairs.
Sorry to rain on the parade here but there needs to be at least an organised way of welcoming and training up new citizens if eIreland are to stand up and take its place as a fully independent and strong eNation.
@Rollo, good to see one of my own, BRAVE DIV 3 ! We never sleep!
MoD? nah, then I'd have to stay at home. How could I expect men to serve abroad unless I could lead them? But hey, you know that, you and me got up to some trouble out east, hey? But remember our code of secrets and honour!!! No tellin' Captain.
Division 8 Grainne please...!! 😛
@Bernie. I thought I'd made it clear there was still work to be done.
Whilst you may have had a disappointing experience, work is underway to improve the overall running of the force. Much has been achieved already.
The IDF is not a free-guns club. Whenever possible in recent times, weapons have been distributed. Any active soldier can confirm this, and there are many.
However, I don't wish to dissuade anyone, including yourself. I will take on board your comments, and will work with you directly Sergeant, to help you reach your military ambitions, if you wish to remain in the force.
Talking up the Shannon farce isn't wise...
Just one question - Why do the fun and games have to stop because someone loses an eye?
Because,we are all Cyclops of course!
Voted.
Good Work Grainne
Have you ever read Sun Tzu's "The Art of War"?
^ Very intelligent piece of writing.
Semper Fidelis Division 2!
@ Tiberius. What do you think??? LOL
art o war and the prince ..... two valuable reads
Good on ya 😉
"C.O.s are busting their collective guts..."
That's the strangest thing I have ever read! lol
enlisted
good jesus there animals!!!!
@Grainne, who said anything about a free guns club - just a mechanism for trainees to get weapons at a competitive price, keeping the Irish weapons companies working and making sure we have a strong military, the engineer in me thinks that the government should be making optimum use of game mechanics for national development.
Apologies if this was the wrong forum to bring the point up on.
No apologies necessary, feel free to contribute, Lady Sergeant.
The engineer in you is now speaking directly to the engineer in me!
There is an economic efficiency issue about all state companies that is too lengthy to debate here.
Fancy going for a girly (but still tough) cocktail with me? I'll PM you and we can take it offline.
Hmmm seems like every country is stepping up its you-tube recruitment- heres the polish one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_n1cwLJJ-Fo." target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_n1cwLJJ-[..]J-Fo. Maybe we should get into the act?
@Uncle Dave. I'm having no joy with that link, Private. Would you mind reposting it?
@addman619, "good jesus there animals!!!! "
the hungarians? or us? LOL
Politics aside it was a sweet video
Gráinne Your prowess on the battlefield is well matched by your skill in journalism.@Everybody else. Gráinne is the best CO a Grunt could ask for. I know that division 3 would follow her through hell and back again because Rollo left his hat behind
@ my own brave Flynn, *mwah* baby! I love you too. Div 3 rules!
Rollo's always doin' that hey? Usually on a bleedin' bedpost somewhere out east. You, my man, are yet to reach your much anticipated peak, Captain. Fight on solider!

ehm... I'll buy a beret, I'd say
@Grainne congratulations on your new heroic status amongst your fellow Irishmen. For the link i gave earlier here's an updated means of viewing. Search Erepublik.com - Wojsko Polskie on you-tube. By the way, I enlisted earlier (nothing to do with the article, but I AM a sucker for militaristic propaganda) when will i be assigned a division?
Uncle Dave, thank you for congrats and link.
My enlist hall is crowded right now, so I will be with you all asap. Appreciate your patience everyone, I am overwhelmed by the generosity of the response, enlistement and general good wishes. Fine Irish Patriots all.
Can't wait to get square-bashing you all and seein' you sweat for the motherland LOL. Yum.
I watched the video and crikey i would not want to get on the wrong side of the hungarians
I have enlisted but i was wondering how long it would take to be prosseced and stuff
You know, I moved from Texas to help Ireland, and it's about time I get offered the chance to shoot someone. 😛
Corporal Phelps and Lieutenant Faradar, good to see you gentlemen.
If you enlist today, I expect to have most new recruits assigned this weekend.
Grainne.
hey, thanks for advertising my video! 🙂
@sanya, my pleasure
I'm watching you guys this long time. as all foreign military leaders should.
