Into reclusion I go...

Day 2,007, 06:10 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Thomas765

Hey guys,

So it's been three years and a bit since I joined the game and just over one year that I've been actively involved in the upper areas of UK politics (or "elite" as people call it). My activity on this game has been dwindling for quite some time and the same can be seen with my activity this month as MoFA. I signed up for that with the expectation that my real life would not be as busy as it was. I had preprepared the first couple of articles with that in mind, however. At any rate, I am formally resigning as a Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom and hoping that the role passes on to my deputy, Kapten Johnson who has de facto taken up the role in recent days.

If you thought it totally random that I resigned as forum admin this week then you were thinking the wrong way. In order to remove yourself from the game completely, you must get rid of your responsibilities. That was my responsibility and had I not had the role as global moderator for the last couple of years, I would've been gone by now because I felt a certain obligation to that position, despite relative inactivity a few times.

So, as far as I'm concerned, this is the end of my political career in the eUnited Kingdom and I can quite happily say it wasn't forced or wasn't brought upon by opposition. It is my choice. I am thus planning on going into two-clicker mode indefinitely.

Why?

The game is awful. There was a time when being on the losing side actually gave you the spirit to keep on fighting because there was much more to lose - such as losing congress would give you open citizenship and being wiped meant losing all political parties - and as a result, there was never really the domination of one particular side that we see today, where countries can be wiped over 6 days and thoroughly thrashed. Bonuses weren't as valuable, although we can always appreciate the amazing battles that ensued when they were deemed so, such as Hello Kitty, Rhone Alps and Lion King, who each had something valuable to the opposing alliance. Now the best we can do is the every once in a blue moon exchange of Aquitaine, that seemingly rarely never makes it back into France's hands.

The MU contest shows the state of our gameplay now, where one person can tank 1 billion damage and their MU is instantaneously one of the largest MUs in the world as a result, putting an end to the hard work of a collective group of people, such as Legion or Team GB and other countries who struggle to that kind of damage on a regular basis, such as Germany - BC and FSK are lingering outside the top 50 like Legion - and France - whose Chillax MU is barely in the top 50 as well. In Version 1 and Version 2, there was this primary emphasis on teamwork and strategy that has seemed to turn into a one man band over two years. I was critical of V2 but I highly enjoyed how much strategy was involved behind the scenes in the hexagonal battlefield. The game has sadly went downhill since then.

The list could go on and on.

So what now?

I have said for quite some time that I would move back to Sweden if and when I decide to retire and I intend to do just that if they will have me. I have always admired Norway and Sweden, with my declarations a few month ago that I would never fight against them unless something was agreed between the UK and Norway - which I believe there was, which is why my top damage and first BH was in Vestlandet. Sweden has been my favourite eNation ever since I went there myself last year and became congressman within 5 days of being inside the nation. There are some amazing people there and while they aren't having such a good time lately, it would be nice to be a part of their community once again. I am a member of Nationalgardet and would happily mock MSAP once more.

Honourable Mention:

The UKRP
It has been one hell of a ride since 2011. I don't intentionally want to rub my own ego but we reached our peak of power ever in the last three years under my PP term in August 2011 when we reached 380 members and got 47/48% of congress. I was proud of that. We are still the best community that the UK has to offer and still growing a little bit. The UKRP has transformed into the party that I had dreamed it would be - a great community that does things in and outside of the game, not a divided mess, which was our legacy. Subjectively, it's the best party in the eUK.

Even while in TUP, I did miss the UKRP. At first it felt wrong joining the other side of the political divide but eh, it's quite ironic seeing UKRP and TUP allied now given the five years of hatred between the two parties.

Tatty bai for now
*h(j)ugs* and kisses (STOLEN'D FROM DISH).
